Not a single republican candidate today would create a single job, let alone help the economy. But I guarantee you, ever single one of them wouldn't mind seeing Caitlyn Jenner and every other LGBTQ person out there burned at the stake.

And by the way, FDR used socialism and got this country out of the Great Depression and through WWII. Capitalism got us to that point and also gave us the Great Recession.

She's not wrong...

I'm one to take things too literally but even I understood her subtext. She's saying you can't put social issues ahead of economic/survival issues. She should be attacked for assuming Obama has been increasing debt when in reality under his presidency the deficit was reversed in 6 years just as much as it did during Bill Clinton's reign in 4 years.

It's Bush's and to specific extent Clinton's fault that the deficit Obama inherited was so large he didn't end up with a surplus before his presidency ends.

And I'm absolutely going to attack her for assuming the GOP is the party of "fiscal responsibility", and that they have the economic interests of the country as a whole, and not just the super rich, at heart. Ignorant stance to take.

Come on, she doesn't care about any of that beyond protecting her own coffers.

Well social issues is a bit of a misnomer. You're actually dealing with human rights that are legitimately a matter of survival for trans individuals. Regardless of whether the economy is strong or not, Cruz and people like him create and defend laws that can deny trans people services, jobs, the ability to rent. Without the support of a proper healthcare system and laws protecting trans rights, there are many who deal with constant danger and many others that often think of or commit suicide due to the situations they're unable to escape.

I know you're saying she's doing what she thinks is right out of ignorance but she's so frustratingly out of touch that its damaging.

This shouldn't be surprising. She was on Ellen a while back and came out against gay marriage.

But the most bizarre thing about this is that for some reason she (and other Republicans) seem to forget that we had the biggest economic crash since the Great Depression on a Republican president's watch.

You would think this would be an important detail...

Reality has a clear liberal bias

Transgender woman who has liberal stances on issues that directly affect her, but is against gay marriage and sides with hyper-evangelical Ted Cruz who believes sex should be only in the missionary position for the express purpose of procreation and wants to deport millions of his fellow Latinos

Jenner was never a good person, man or woman. Just goes to show how far people will go to defend their wallets.

They know they'll all be dead before shit starts hitting the fan enough to affect them personally.

So basically another version of "Fuck you, got mine" where future generations are sacrificed to the great and powerful crony capitalist god.

She should be honest, it is her personal taxes. That is the reason most of those rich persons are backing the republicans, even if it means fucking themselves over on the social issues.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I'm having a really hard time thinking of something that makes less sense than a trans person having any positive feelings about a person like Ted Cruz.

Well, to be fair, I have a hard time imagining anybody having positive feelings about Ted Cruz.

What a stupid person.

What are the mental gymnastics you would have to go through to support someone that literally hates you? While simultaneously being a spokesperson for said issue.

Pretty sure Cruz ain't going to want her help at all.

He'll probably scream for an exorcist if she came around with how his mind works.

She's not a spokesperson for trans people. Her conservatism, homophobia & internalized transphobia prove as much. She doesn't care about trans people at all.

She's a spokesperson for herself and her brand. Nothing more.

Yes let's support the guy who actively supports the man who called for all LGBT people to be killed.
It's genius. I just got her logic.

If we don't have a country then we don't have trans issues.
If you support a guy that supports a guy that wants you dead, the you won't have issues.
Can't have issues if you are dead.

Nah. That can't be right.

Jenner was a terrible human being, and a pathetic example to put on a pedistal.
There are so many more deserving in the trans community who could have done so much more with just a sliver of the attention given.
This comes as no surprise.

That's the kind of logic I see with people supporting Trump saying he'll naturally walk everything he said back and become an absolute moderate who supports all kinds of social issues. Sure and one day I'll shit gold.

Eventually the fire will go out and we can rebuild, right?
Just gotta wait for the ceiling to cave in guys!

Ugh. Meanwhile, how about the real world, where us Transpeople without money are forced to choose between transition and school. Struggling to afford hormones and therapy, let alone anything else. Those struggling to tell their families or those that have been abandoned by them.

Trying to keep our heads above water so maybe just maybe one day our transition will be complete, before we kill ourselves or get murdered being found out in a bathroom.

At least with the Democrats in place there's a chance for hope. Laws to protect us, not push us back into hiding. Healthcare that could help with those expensive surgeries and counseling sessions, once you get through that it's really maintenance and more manageable, even at a lower income. Education assistance so you can get a degree. Then you can cover more of your own transition expense and find that career, instead of resorting to adult films or crime.

Combine all that and we all, not just the rich, have a chance to become complete. Pass like we never were XX or XY. No more suicides. No more murders. We become something. Productive members of society who will reinvest in that system tenfold through stability and work.

Sure as hell won't happen with Ted Cruz.

Phenomenal post.

Even if this is a purely economic issue to her, how is the LGBT community able to find jobs under Cruz if anti-discrimination laws are stripped, and business's are allowed to turn them away for religious or personal reasons. Because you know that's what Cruz will try and maybe even succeed at doing. Besides that Social issues are extremely important because of the high rates of violence to trans people, which would probably only increase under an administration that looks upon them as lower than dirt. Even if She is rich she would probably see some of the ramifications herself on a purely social level if not some economic level.

With $19 trillion in debt and it keeps going up, we’re spending money we don’t have.
I'm not surprised someone who thinks of the economy this way is supporting Ted Cruz.

I'm struggling to fathom the Olympic-level mental gymnastics that must be necessary for you to endorse someone who believes your existence to be an abomination.

Ugh, the trans community really deserves better than Caitlyn Jenner.

This already happens a lot anyways, except you just get mysteriously turned away for every single job you get an interview for by either hearing "there was somebody else" or just not hearing back at all. It's one reason why things are so fucked up for trans people.

Trans homelessness rates are staggering. When your family disowns you and kicks you out and all of your friends cut contact and nobody will hire you because you're visibly trans, there is often literally nothing you can do to pull yourself back up. Other than detransition, stay homeless, or commit suicide.

It annoys me so much that she is the most prominent trans person by an order of magnitude, but is such a shitty person

“Wouldn’t it be great, let’s say he goes on to be president,” she tells me in relating a conversation on the tour bus. “And I have all my girls on a trans issues board to advise him on making decisions when it comes to trans issues. Isn’t that a good idea?”

I really feel sorry for her. If it was up to a lot of Republicans she'd be locked up in some mental institute or some "conversion camp" until she played ball and was a man for the rest of her life. Only recently have they come around the whole LGBT issue and that is because *ding ding ding* it was a losing political issue for them. If TOMORROW it became a winning political issue again, they'd be right on that horse again gay bashing like there was no tomorrow.

Caitlyn Jenner is a very ignorant person. Jobs don't mean anything to trans people in a society that thinks that an employer should be allowed to fire you for being trans.

Well. That's pretty backwards.

My brain hurts. I mean, the mere fact that anyone supports Ted Cruz at all makes my brain hurt.
