Conduit 2 for Wii.

So...what? I guess for you, you'll need to sneak into their offices late at night and play the unfinished builds while they sleep?

Ooooooor, I'll wait until I can see direct-feed media and hands-on impressions from a variety of sources.

I read it.

Words are cheap. Some bigger outdoors levels, more scripted events, bad guys with randomized armor, and a developer saying "oh we could have done better so we will," isn't inspiring.

Just saw the scans, looks like an FPS. The outdoor shot and that boss look most promising.

But then you see shots of strangely coloured, super boring lab areas and it's all meh again.

Just seen the pics the new stuff they have added looks good with nice and different out door environments and some good looking aliens, it seems to be all the old stuff that is dragging it down like the already mention lab bits.

I will pass unless it utilizes Motion Plus, Wii Speak and/or Vitality Sensor.

I don't care about the game's graphics, just make the gameplay fun and innovative. That's the most important aspect of any game.

I'm going to keep my eye out on it though.
Why the hell would a shooter use motion plus?

Motion Plus comes with Ir+. A high-tech multi-chip that doubles the Wiiremote's infrared camera resolution for maximum accuracy.

From what i cant tell they toned down the overuse of effects the bigger areas look more intresdting. The bas side is tht most of the stuff from the first game really sticks out like the labs an the labguy model but the other new soldiers look alright.

Looking forward to the game, but I probably won't be putting the backlog aside to get to it like was done with the first one. Hopefully this one is better/gets better reviews to give it better legs, since it's very likely it'll open lower than the first one.

Why Sega is backing this shit and ignoring their own japanese studio's produce is just bizarre. High Voltage must have some photo's of their execs them wanking to Sonic porn or something :lol

So bomb massively no matter the advertisement or quality? :lol

Do you have any actual interest in this game or are you just here for inane trolling?

The first one was heavily inspired by Perfect Dark and this looks to be more like Perfect Dark, Metroid Prime and Halo, well I guess we'll have to wait and see how this one turns out.

Actually, the M+ does help the aiming in Red Steel 2.

Well, not exactly the aiming itself, but it helps to keep control and turning speed when you are aiming offscreen.

So its due out this year, are they really going to have a sequel before the Grinder is released?

Maybe give it a budget release in Oct

I could root for a game like that.

I saw that mentioned, but it's not in the bulleted list from NP. Does it give a release date in the NP article?
Its listed as "Fall 2010" in the bottom right corner under the full page artwork at the start of the article.

This timeframe makes some sense to the Grinders delay to 2011.

Thanks! That means we have

Call of Duty 7: Vietnam
The Conduit 2
Zelda Wii

for Fall 2010 on Wii, so far.

Epic Mickey
And Disney's Guilty Party (not going to lie that looks like it has the potential to be awesome with friends/when drunk)

If there's one improvement HVS need to do to Quantom 3, outside of general optimisation for a smoother framerate, its get more baked shadows going on.

I quite like the engine but waaay too much of The Conduit looked like it was streaming straight from a world building. Everything universally lit. The shaders were up and running, but there was no sense of tone or shadow depth across environments.

It doesnt need to be real time shadow casting for the environment either. I still think stuff on Source looks good when used correctly, and most of that is just baked.

Bake some shadows HVS! Get some proper shadow casting across areas of maps to give them some tone depth.

The NP preview said the lighting was much improved, but I couldn't see any real evidence of that in the small scans.

I think that's why we need a trailer to really see what's going on.

hearing how the first was "ok", I think they can do some improvement. the problem is, I enjoy more realistic shooters. what I mean is, not fighting aliens or shit. I prefer to kill human or human-like creatures.

Then obviously a game involving an Alien invasion isn't for you. Though considering most the Aliens were bipeds, really don't know how much more human-like you want to get.

Of all the reasons people can come up with to not buy The Conduit 2, this is by far the least logical.

I should have been more clear, no Day1 if it doesnt support it.
I do own the first one, and will buy the sequel too, just not new ;)

Wii Motion + melee would be pretty difficult to do because it would have to be pretty much like adding a whole new game (like Red Steel 2) as a feature or risk being a cheap gimmick without the depth. Also it's a bit interesting seeing that HVS is starting to get into more mythological stuff. First with Gladiator A.D. -> Tournament of Legends and now The Conduit -> The Conduit 2.

edit: I just had a hilarious image in my head of
Kevin Sorbo's character being like Cortana but instead of a full body it would be Kevin Sorbo's smiling head floating while projecting out of the ASE.
:lol

To be fair, The Conduit had a melee weapon planned for use with the Motion Plus, but they scrapped the idea because they were too far along in development. I'd be very surprised if a Motion Plus enabled melee weapon didn't make an appearance this time around.

Motion+ support could also be good for grenade throwing. Instead of always tossing it in the same direction and with the same force, being able to like, toss it to the side, behind you, underhand, etc. could change the gameplay.

I really don't know.

There's something about their screens, I don't know what you call it, but it has this weird glow to it, always kind of turns me off to their games.

The Wiimote should never be used for aiming and waggle. That's why there's a nunchuk. Less accurate, but it doesn't mess up your aim.

It can be done, but the Z or C button on the Nunchuk should be used to lock the screen beforehand. That way you're not turning while waggling.

Let's hope it's either vastly better or vastly worse just for the lulz

I don't side much with Amirox but everything he ever said about the Conduit is true

For faster turning when the IR is off screen.

And I'm sure they can come up with other creative uses for M+ like melee attacks or solving puzzles.

I hope we see a bit more life this time around. The first seemed like a compiliation of generic FPS conventions and there was literally no inspiration.

From the details, looks like there just expanding on that concept. Lets see some orignality HVS.
