You'd hope a good journalist could differentiate between the two.
Ah, yeah, I think I get what you mean. Some souls fans might take the critic in a wrong way and direct their anger at the site. Colonial marines had no fans.well yeah, but i think as an explanation as to WHY no one is jumping on fromsoft it's pretty good. it was easy to jump on aliens because they game sucked
So glad people like Brad and ENB are ignoring this GAF craziness. It's fine to be annoyed by texture/lighting quality or whatever, but some of these "From must PAY for what they've done to the GAMING COMMUNITY!!!!" comments are seriously pathetic.
Also, people need to look up what bait and switch actually means. I've yet to see it be used correctly in this thread.
I hope you don't just all spam Brad now, I kind of regret posting it.
But I think he also went to a DS2 preview event, so he would be the one to know at Giant Bomb.
There's no reason to spam him. He's either arrogantly ignorant or full of bullshit, nothing good will come from that.I hope you don't just all spam Brad now, I kind of regret posting it.

I pointed that out in the GB thread when he first tweeted it and no one really cared or did anything so I doubt much will happen.I hope you don't just all spam Brad now, I kind of regret posting it.

I just want to know, did you have any problems with Aliens: Colonial Marines? Because this is similar, and I'd personally say worse, than that and everyone's up in arms.So glad people like Brad and ENB are ignoring this GAF craziness. The fact that the castles are entirely different models throws the whole thing into chaos for me. Something major has happened here, and the only thing that makes sense is that the original footage is of a vertical slice made to prototype and demo the game.
Why else would they go through the game, changing textures, enemy placements, and entire levels? It makes no sense.
I would say the press should be among those who'd warn consumers about the fact that the product doesn't look near as good as it did in almost all media, up to like a month from release (including a playable beta).
Seeing them being so dismissive, as usual, it's annoying.
If a downgrade had to happen for the game to be playable, then so be it, i'm sure nobody at FROM enjoyed having to gut all their fantastic art direction, however the consumers should be made well aware of it, instead of having to navigate fucking neogaf for some clarity.
So yeah, seeing journalists being dismissive is annoying, again.
You'd hope a good journalist could differentiate between the two.
I mean you can still give the game good score while also acknowledging that the game looks worse than the previously shown footage
StopSomeone should ask ENB stf happend
Someone should ask ENB stf happend, he played the game for a couple of months now, in his latest video he says the torch/darkness system has not made it into the game like supposed.

ENB responded to someone on youtube:
I thought it was Dark Souls paradise, it was development hell
Here's a whole freakin video O_O
The drastic differences start at the 12 second mark and continue until the end...
One possiblity (which seems reasonable considering the differences in assets\geometry in so many screenshots\videos):
One of them is the full game. The other is a vertical slice built by a completely different team.
I just want to know, did you have any problems with Aliens: Colonial Marines? Because this is similar, and I'd personally say worse, than that and everyone's up in arms.

edit: also, i think a lot of you complaining about shit like "OMG DIFFERENT CASTLES" are coming off as ignorant. the changes in lighting etc are one thing. but different geometry is not inherently a downgrade. shit changes during development all the time. why is one of those castles better than the other? you're muddying up your points about the actual downgrades with stupid shit like "the walls look different in the demo"
Looking at it now, we should have caught on to the bullshit. Seconds 25- 30 in the video show GOD RAYS on the original version... there is no fucking way that would run on a PS3. Modern $$$ graphics cards take a huge performance hit from God Rays.
They don't have to licence phyreengine from Sony.

Dragon's Dogma has godrays, Uncharted 3 too.
I'm sure plenty other games have them, too.

Dude... I am very skeptical about that. Screenshots?

PS. I beat Dragon's Dogma on 360 and don't recall any god rays.
Dark Souls 2 has god rays, though they seem to be lower resolution than what's in that video. Have you actually played the game?

Here is what that guy said:
All you GAFers who say you'll wait for the PC version, you're actually going to leave us console players in the dust? We need your support as well, please don't leave us to die. Not like this.
I think he does just mean PC
"on last gen systems" does this mean there is a nextgen version, i don't think he means the PC version.

I just think he's describing what those systems are. Last gen. Doesn't mean anything about the current gen systems.
Beaten.

Yeah i get your point and agree with it.Sure, but as annoying as it can be, "the graphics don't look as good as the reveal" isn't really surprising. In Watch_Dogs' case it's notable because it's so extreme, but it's still not really a massive news flash.
What's important about these Dark Souls changes is that they fundamentally break a core touted mechanic we'd been told about repeatedly until release. Imagine if Halo 2 had shipped with dual wielding stripped out, but still showed icons for picking up guns in your off hand. That's the kind of weird rushed removal we're seeing.
Yeah I've played it for about 8 hours now. I don't see anything resembling that video.
Oh yeah, also wanted to mention Dragon's Dogma was letterboxed. Everything is a trade-off with this aging hardware. It's a simple fact that people in this thread don't seem to want to understand. ENB's two-sentence comment should be enough to put this issue to rest.
