lol fucking awesome
9.8 % over Pro.
Ryzen at 3 Ghz is 50 % more in Ghz + 70 % IPC, So more than double when Ryzen comes to console.....and all will change again as devs will have options like a PC, at the moment with Jaguar the main option with more power is resolution.
I dont think Its worth changing over Pro until we get Ryzen consoles is my opinion, but its worth upgrading an OG Ps4 and definitely an Xb1S for sure.
Ryzen will be a generational leap and allow game options we cant have with Jaguar today.
Why would you just go through it 1 time? I got through it 4 times and was like "OMG, that was awesome!" and hasn't been able to forget about it even up to this day. I also had the season pass for it because I loved the game so much and I went back to do the awesome Baba Yaga content 4 times too.Why would you go through it 4 times? I got through it once and was like "Welp, that was a thing" and forgot about it by the next day. I even had the season pass for it because I got it super cheap and I never even went back to do that Baba Yaga content.
Honestly I see this more as an upgrade for existing Xbox One owners than something to attract new customers.
And lol at both sides in this thread.
In two years when PS5 is out the pendulum will swing again. And of course Xbox One X games will look better than Pro games - it's $500, came out midway through the generation, and it has the advantage of more system resources. Why does it have to be a big deal? It doesn't devalue your purchase. If anything, existing Xbox One owners should be the ones outraged, they had to spend the beginning of this generation with lackluster multiplatform titles (in terms of IQ anyways).
I think sane people realize that it isn't a generational leap over the Pro. However, if the 40% more power OG PS4 had over OG Xbox One shabang is any indication of what's to come, I think the difference between Pro and X will be significant. Out of the park significant? No. However, after owning a PS4, OG XB1, XB1 S, it will be VERY significant for me.
sure. but you need a console that does not exist to have 21:9 or 32:9 Tomb Raider
Nice! Last years model right? I have no idea what to get at the moment but I hope it's possible to find one around 1500. I saw a 2017 Samsung QLED which looked awesome but then someone here talked about it and explained how it sometimes dropped the connection and just showed a black screen with 4K60hz content from his Pro. So nope, not touching that. LG seems great though, everyone seem to love them.LG B6D (Germany). Great TV. Great esthetics. And that thing is H U G E !!

Digital Foundry threads are going to be a dumpster fire for the next 18 months.
Cool thanks for the tipif you have limited money go for a 2016 B6, if you have more budget look out for a 2017 C7. Btw both models have the best reviews on rtings.com
It was stated the PS4 Pro couldn't handle games with the texture quality of this Tomb Raider version. I picked a game that I think can and that I think is fairly similar.
They are both action adventures, they are both technically/graphically similarly demanding, being fairly linear but with also a couple of open environments and they both run in 30fps (the 4k mode on Xbox One X does). Come on, they are similar types of games. I wasn't going to compare Tomb Raider with Horizon Zero Dawn or Tekken 7.
I by the way didn't compare it with the PS4 Pro version of Tomb Raider, because that is an old version, as is the PC version. As we can clearly see the Xbox One X version is graphically even improved over the best PC settings. I doubt it is because the Xbox One X is more powerful than a top of the line gaming PC, but because they obviously went back to the game and polished it up significantly. They even said so in the trailer of the Xbox One X version.
There, that was my reasoning for bringing up TLL.
I'm also not in any way doubting that the Xbox One X is more powerful and can run games at a higher resolution, higher graphical settings or higher framerates than the less poweful PS4 Pro.
Don't get used to it folks. Most devs aren't going to add upgraded textures for Xbonx ports, and we'll most likely see just resolution bumps using the same assets as the main upgrades between the two, very similar to the ps4/Xbone differences, going into the future.
PC will almost always have the best visuals and iq for third party games going forward.
Sorry to pee in your cheerios tho.
No biggie it happens.
It could also be a matter of not having the time to port their implementation on PS4 pro, with the hardware specific features, to the Xbox one X.
And that leads to the lingering question I have. Is getting high quality checkerboarding results on the Xbox one X (or PC for that matter) more complicated than the Pro? I don't know. That uncertainty is why I think it's too soon to make a statement like "all 3rd party games will look better on the X". I expect most will, especially in terms of shadow quality, texture filtering, and LOD distances, but in terms of image quality for games that rely on checkboarding, who knows. I don't think it's as black and white as Microsoft simply having the beefier box. Anyways, this may not matter much at all if the majority of games can hit native 4k.
98% of the game's scenes are real-time including the pictured scenes. Game has amazing cutscenes.
This thread is a mirror image of the DF threads at the beginning of this generation.
The coolest part for One X owners is that these are early upgrades.
Games being built with One X in mind from scratch will really show what it's capable of.

Unless I missed it, no one claimed the PS4 or Pro can't handle games with great texture quality. I said that it's doubtful that the Pro could receive all the same higher resolution textures seen in the 1X version. It's been discussed and mentioned multiple times from people who analyze games for a living that the Pro will be less likely to receive higher resolution textures (or 4K textures) seen in many PC ports. This is what I was talking about and still stand by it regardless of how good some textures look in any specific game.
They're actually hilarious, if they all follow this same trend.
These discussions are starting to feel weirdly political in nature lately. There'a lot of distrust, misinformation, and whataboutism going on here.
Cognitive dissonance refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. This produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance etc.
For example, when people smoke (behavior) and they know that smoking causes cancer (cognition).
It's not the same because back then you had people still parroting the lies of Microsoft spokesman about there not being a 30% power difference in favor of the console that cost $100 less. It was an abnormal situation fueled by officially sanctioned fud.
A console that comes out a year later and costs at least $100 more being 40% more powerful is normal.
Why are they intentionally degrading PC graphics so that XBox One X looks better?
There's no way a GTX 1080Ti looks worse than XBXX
It looks really good on the X1X but why did they get rid of DoF?
You can see more of the textures in screenshots but the actual game suffers...
At least they kept the 3 different options.
The question going forward tho will be just how much work devs will put towards it. Pro's Rise also had a bunch of work on it but look at how mixed it is now.

Imagine Red Dead Redemption 2 on this console...
I guess this is my problem with these incremental consoles, not JUST X1X. This is the only time I can really tell the difference, in motion. They HAVE to be side by side, or else I would never know "it could be better."
Xbox exclusive textures. Hopefully the PC version gets a patch too.Why are they intentionally degrading PC graphics so that XBox One X looks better?

Just one example screenshot including PC:
An absolute definitive version if I ever seen one.

For Xbox this is all super interesting, theyve clearly got a really robust solution that allows the hardware to be changed without causes huge compatibility issues.
Optimization is my uneducated guess.
ND are exclusive. They have more time to play around with the hardware.
Crystal Dynamics (or whichever developer handles TR) have more memory and better hardware readily available with the X for these improvements, and not enough time to play around with the Pro to get results.
