Divinity: OS - EE |OT| No one has as many friends as the man with many cheeses!

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Summons are very helpful early game. Make use of those scrolls, and give pots to everyone.

You can pre summon (one per character) before engaging a fight but you lose a bit of durationduration. Some area spells like rain can also be precast.

Tactics for early game:

Two tanks, two spellcasters, with at least one geomancer for the summons. Hydro is good for the CC, which is important earlier on. Marksmen were bad in vanilla but I'm not sure that's true now.

Oil can be ignited, poison explodes when in contact with fire. Water conducts lighting spells or can be turned into ice, which makes people slip. Enemies who are wet can be frozen easier. A lot of the earlier fights have these interactions for you to take advantage of. Experiment with Telekinesis if you have the Aero guys, it helps for set up.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Oh man, I totally missed that tips link in the OP that lists what vendors have what skillbooks. I ended up making my main character a sort of Death Knight/Shaman - Man at arms, witchcraft, and geomancy- but couldn't find the geomancer vendor after putting my first point into it at level 3.

I'm having a weird issue with this game.

I keep wanting to start over. I didn't really read up much before I created my characters, but once I discovered a system in game and looked up how to use it and what it does I want to re-do my characters so they have a more optimized build.

Also, I keep hearing wands suck late game. Do they actually suck? Or are they simply not the best. Having a mage that focuses on using wands sounds very fun, but if I'll have late game hurtles because of it then I might not do it.

Man I don't know what's up but I just can't do shit in this fucking game. I have a level 4 party and I'm out west of town working my way to
Evelyn's lair
and there's a skeleton fight I just can't beat. I've never had this sort of trouble with pretty much any type of RPG before, and it's really frustrating. It's like 6 of the fuckers and they all heal/rez each other. Add the fact that there's no fast, reliable way of healing out of combat and I'm just really quickly losing any desire to play the game. It just feels so cheap and punishing.

I'm honestly at the point where if I was less than 2 hours played I would steam refund, and it fucking sucks because I thought I would love this game.

You need to level up, you don't want to be heading to that lair until level 7, pref 8. If that particular mob is kicking you, either look elsewhere (should be lots to do if you're only lvl4) or think of a really cheesy way to fuck them up before engagement.

You can heal out of combat with a bunch of stuff, such as sleeping in beds(although that's location specific), eating food and drinking potions. But the most common and useful one is healing spells.

As a general advice for any new player, you will want a mage in your party, and that mage will want to have 1pt in every school of magic for basic spells. 1pt hydro gives you a heal specifically. And rain and a good CC spell with freeze. Every school of magic has 2 to 3 amazing starting spells which is why you want 1pt in everything at least.

Now you might have a mage but don't have the points to get hydro, no big deal. Drop one of your companions, and get the mage companion, he starts with water/air at 2 and the heal plus a bunch of stuff. Or recruit a henchman with healing. Do this until you level on your mage, and put that point in hydro then you can switch back to whatever you want. While you're at it, put 1pt in geo for the spider pet too.

Also stuff doesn't resurect on their own. If something's getting resurected, it's because there's a something priest in the mobs. Kill the priests asap, they heal/rez other stuff, typical rpg stuff. There's also some stuff that summons adds, if that's the mini boss fight you're on right now on the beach, it follows the same principle, kill the summoner first(or kill a bunch of the stuff he summons but not everything, then kill him since he won't resummon until you clear the stuff). Or avoid the fight, but I feel you're more on the early parts of the skeletons rather than this fight.

What the others said. Also make sure that you have recruited two more characters. Madora is crazy good with two handed swords and will deal awesome damage.

weird in this current playthrough by time i got to Silverglen i didn't have a single unused blood stone when the last 3 times i had at least 2 so i can't realistically do that escort quest in the level range and i'm shocked

I have a conundrum GAF.

I found out about this game only very recently. I'm not sure how I managed to ignore it, as I had heard about it, just never looked into it. Anyway I picked it up on PC a couple of days ago and can't wait to get started. Pool of Radiance and subsequent followups were the 1st games to have an impact on me when I was younger, and this looks like a modern day take on that formula. My issue is, I just started a playthrough of Wasteland 2 (which is very, very cool) a few days before, which was what sort of led me to finding out about this.

Now, I'm a good 20-30 hours into Wasteland and really enjoying it and want to see it through. I decided I'd fire up D:OS a couple of nights ago to have a quick look, as I had barely even seen the game running. Got to the 1st fight and was being bombarded by tips and hints and advice and systems and whatever else. My poor brain had only just gotten around Wastelands systems (I think....) and I'm not sure it would be able to cope learning 2 CRPGs at once. So I switched it off midway through the 1st fight, VERY impressed with what I saw, but more then a little intimidated.

So the conundrum is I REALLY want to get stuck into this, but I think I should beat Wasteland 1st. But I keep thinking about this game in the meantime, even though I really enjoy wasteland. I used to be all about playing ALL the games at once, but in recent years I've found I like to focus on 1 at a time that I can really sink my teeth into.

Anyhoo, no real question here (yet....), just a little bored at work and thought I'd air a 1st world problem.

Edit: nvm found someone.

I just got this in the mail late last week after scoring a sweet deal on an Xbone copy from Amazon. I had last night off and a coworker had today off so last night we started up a couch co-op game. We had quite a bit of fun despite not being able to figure out a lot of stuff for what seemed like way too long. I rolled a cleric and was healing quite a bit and I did read a lot of this thread, enough to know about crafting for HP, so we didn't have any problems on that front.

One thing I was wondering about was a patch a while back that I read about ITT but can't find much info about. It mentioned something being done to loot drops. The country we are in at the moment has absolutely shitty Internet and I keep my Xbone offline 99% of the time so we are playing the game completely unpatched. I was doing some reading earlier elsewhere on the net and saw that two of the patches (not the ones that made whatever loot changes) had what seemed like really good tweeks and alterations, especially some of the menu/interface changes in the inventory and crafting, etc. So it had me wanting to patch the game but then I remembered that I read something somewhere ITT about the patch that made changes to the loot drop and chest contents and thought maybe whatever I read was pretty negative and down on the changes.

So what did they change in regards to loot? Was it a good change or not? If it was something bad, do the other things they have patched outweigh the loot changes?

Helped me!

So, I'm really frustrated at the moment with the Withered Gardens section in Cyseal, and I would greatly appreciate any help. I'm playing on Tactician, and it's annoying enough that for some reason I can't even move barrels and the like to make a pathway or to cover traps, because it immediately explodes everything. I worked my way to the second lava room, and there are 4 keys on the shelves that periodically glow. I cast winged feet and walk up to the shelves, but I cannot grab any keys. I can't teleport the keys either.

This whole area seems like Larian is just trolling me. I love solving puzzles and getting by traps, but I'm either missing something very obvious, my game is bugged, or they just did a terrible job with this house.

Please, please help me GAF because I feel defeated.

I found using one lone adventurer with
both Pyramids pretty manageable. I think I equipped one on the hotbar and threw the other with drag/drop.
A second adventurer made a point of
moving certain chests outside into the clearing before opening

8 hours in and I can safely say this game is incredible. I'm playing split screen on PC and it works so well for such a complex game and the controller support is great.

If this quality keeps up it will be one of the best rpgs ever. How did this not win every GOTY award going?

40 hours in and now I've just entered the Source Temple. I'm still enjoying it, but the game has too many issues for me to be as positive about it as I was above.

The problems I have with it are:

  • Many of the puzzles are obtuse / frustrating.
  • The story has really gone downhill and is the lazy "you are the ultimate saviours of the universe" sthick.
  • The game doesn't make it obvious how to proceed along the main path at times.
  • There are badly designed sections that I never would have passed without consulting a guide.
I'll look back at the game positively, but the aspects above mean I'll never replay the game.

I'm hoping the second game will fix these issues, and I also hope the last stretch of the game I'm about to do is strong so it goes out on a high.

Anyone know an EE accurate crafting guide that actually shows stats?
Love the power scaling in this game, but crafting a rabbit amulet which gives 1spd + .4ish movement and then crafting a rabbit ring resulting in +lucky charm instead is dumb.

How is the story and characters in this game? I'm looking for something similar to Dragon Age Origins and hoping this would be a good fit? I really enjoyed conversations with my party in DAO and hope its the same with this?

just started the game myself of ps4. Left the city for the first time now, off to the west...

Have 4 players in party
(jahan and some roogue who starts with a B)
. there's so many quest logs to keep track of dang I completely for get about which i've done and which aren't completed yet... any way to tell?

so far worst part about the game is the UI/interface. just awful. everything else is awesome though

Just a quick question regarding crafting - should i be keeping/picking up everything??

mushrooms...vials...empty scroll...carrots...etc or in the long run is it really not worth it?

Thanks in advance

I started the game recently and find myself getting destroyed as soon as I leave the starting town to look for the healer's apprentice in some cave. Any general tips for this part of the game?

maybe build up your party? move slowly and play battles safely? not really sure how else to help as it sounds like we are in a similar point of the game, but I may have spent 5 hours in the town where you only spent 2...

I'm currently at a battle out of the west gate with like 6 undead and am too pussy to face them to see if I can take them or not. haha!

How is the story and characters in this game? I'm looking for something similar to Dragon Age Origins and hoping this would be a good fit? I really enjoyed conversations with my party in DAO and hope its the same with this?

If I really enjoyed Dragon Age Origins, would I enjoy this?

i think you'd like it. lots of conversation between your characters. in fact one of the games that popped into my head as i was plaaying the first few hours was that it's an isometric Dragon Age Origins...essentially...

This game has insane value and props to Larian for the continued support.

Best RPG in years really, but I understand why some people might not like it. It's pretty hard and does not hold your hand at all.

Ok, so down mostly everything. Playing this time with a friend on ps4. We are at the
Source Temple
.. So am I losing my mind?? There was no
series of boss battles leading up, door puzzles now.. No Death Lord outside the entrance.. Instead it was one of the four previous fights.. The fire demon. Wtf, did they remove all the large fights leading up to the entrance??

Is that really different in the EE??

I heard the EE end game was nerfed.

I'm playing the EE on tactitan mode and it isn't as hard as I imagined. Maybe it's because I already know what to expect having played the vanilla version.

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
I never played this game but I'll end up buying it just out of respect for Larian Studio. What an amazing support they give.
I just need to finish Witcher 3 first.

I just started a offliine coop playthrough with a friend (PS4). We would like to continue to play the savegame online and offline in coop together, but thats not possible, right?

He has PS+ as well, but the savegame is stored just on my account :/ With Diablo 3 it works like a charm playing on and offline coop (each player has a separate file).

I think this patch fucked up my inventory...

Whenever i try to equip the backpack that comes up doesnt display the icons properly.. Some are invisible others show up but arent named accordingly. Making equipping a fckin hassle more than t is already.

I'm not seeing any shared gold either.

As for game help -
am i doing something wrong for the burial mound quest? I "throw" the pendants onto their respective pedestals but the blue gates dont open up. Is their a switch or something im missing?

Edit: couldnt find any solution i think the bug is from the patch- made and accnt and told the forum rep. Saw a few others mention the issue so its def known about now. Oh well... Luckily im strong enough to move north and try other quests...

I've started this, level four but feeling overwhelmed.

Put it on the easiest difficulty but finding it ridiculously hard :(

I'm kind of lost no idea how to progress
a sheep was buried instead of the man, I need to find the body

Any tips :(
Also the beast woman is trapped in a fight she can't win so just left her in the market with the whole town against her :(

lol

Anyways, i've finally found the time and progressed much further. Facing braccus rex, but his openers killed me, I was level 8 too.

I'm level 9 now and will try some different strategies to negate his OP starting move.

Starting to get really frustrated with this game again. I'm level 16.5 and under-levelled to take on the
death knights around the Source Temple
and progress the main story. My quest log, as usual, is a vague list of unhelpfullness and I can't see how on earth I'm going to level up to ~19 to get through this bit.

I'm stubbornly trying to play guide free but at well over 100hrs, it's starting to outstay its welcome.

lol

Just come back to him later. He's not been required to progress anything for me and I'm level 16.

Picked up playing again today and it took me just 2 tries to kill Bacchus Rex while I put the game down weeks ago cause I could not beat him. :)

Feels good to being able to proceed now, will go to the forest.

Well, it's been a couple weeks and I am still not sure if the changes that one of the patches made to the loot were an improvement or not, it seems like I have seen people say that the loot is leveled to what they were at when they first entered the area and a lot of it ends up being underpowered now. I guess I'll just download the patches and see though, because I do want to get back to playing the game.

My Teller of Secrets lady doesn't have any stat boostin' books. Looks like a bug :(

What level did everyone tackle the
Source temple
at near the end?

Just got the game today from GameFly and I'm already considering sending it back. I love the combat, but man, everything else is such a slog. Does the balance between the combat and slowly trudging through towns improve as the game goes along? I'm only a few hours in now.

Stick with it until you clear out Cyseal, you should know by then what the game is and whether it's for you or not.

Edit: and yes it slows down on the whole go outside the city, fight some zombies/ bad guys, go back into town and work on the investigation, rinse and repeat.

Would appreciate some help here. I'm at
Luculla Mines
(midway through Level 13) and need to get past the Death Knights. Problem is I don't have enough
Invisibility scrolls or potions, and the vendors don't seem to be restocking
. Any ideas how to get past them? I have Bairdotr and Madora in my party.

Only thing I can think to do would be to go get Wolgraff, buy the walk in shadows skillbook and do the area with him, and also put a few points into sneak so that he's not spotted when invisibility runs out.

Thanks! That did the trick. Back to the action. Man this game is so good though. So much fun and really hard to put down.

Grabbed this at the recent EU PSN sale.

Wow, the first hour with this game already is way better than the 8 or so hours i had with Wasteland 2 PS4 (which i then sold). From tutorial,UI, to technical implementation, everything is fleshed out better and works good with controller.

Really looking forward to sinking over 100 hours into this. Till the Witcher 3 DLC Combo pack arrives.

So i've completed the "closing the rift" quest and ever since then...

zixzax has disappeared from homestead. Not near any available or unavailable portal or in any of the rooms.

I can't unlock any rooms at all. Any help? Posed a question in the steam community forums, but i progressed too far and can't load a save file now without undoing all of my work :(
