Doujin (Indie) Games at Comic Market 82

From the first 20 minutes:

アスタブリード (Astebreed) : From the people that did Ether Vapor, should be hot.

REVOLVER360: That flipping, could be a pretty interesting STG. That replay system looks good too (25 at the same time, lol).

Ghost9 2: Looks hot, I like that Fez-ish perspect. flipping + 1st person action.

新世紀GPXサイバーフォーミュラSin Dre (Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin Dre): Doujin racers have come a far way...

舞華蒼魔鏡 Uniting Barrage Action (Mai Hana Ao Makyou ~ Uniting Barrage Action): Whoa, 3D Touhou. Looks pretty good, nice production value. Will check it later, probably.

Homura Combat Blaze
GHost92
Lion Heart(?)

All look like things I'd try.

The interesting thing about the doujin game scene is the freedom of IP usage.

When people consider the western indie scene, they never think about the variety of fangames that do get made.

Fangames that sometimes come under C&D even if they give no profit to the makers.

But in Japan, your game based on another game you like gets promotion and stands on its own.

Not really, it's like beating a potato in race.
Japan's indie scene better than Europe/Russia, South America, and North America combined? Really? Honestly, I don't want it to be true because of the language barrier. ;_; Also if you are dissing stuff like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Frozen Synapse then we have a problem.
Hardly.

Maybe if you came into the IRC more you would know my thoughts on things better. :>
Which one? AnimeGAF?

I don't think I will make it out to the event this year but someone from our Tokyo office will go.

I gotta make a list of stuff we might look into releasing on PLAYISM to give her. :)
This video is going to make my job infinitely easier!

So for the people saying that they will never see these in English, remember you have groups like PLAYISM and Carpre Fulgur nowadays!

I mean if I wouldn't have went last year no one would know about the ridiculousness that is NEO AQUARIUM

*sigh*

Project YnP been working on the CF: Sin games since 2004.
This is already the third attempt, and the UI and driving mechanics supposedly still haven't been improved much (just more environmental objects/ fancier boost mode from most sources.)
For those of us familiar enough with the scene, it really hasn't gone far at all.

Here's one of the original 2004 releases: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbb9oRCY5R4&feature=relmfu

edit: I'm complaining from the perspective of a hardcore Cyber Formula fan. We were promised much more than this when they first started, and now they're just milking the same old assets over and over.

Yeah, they don't make games so I don't know how he would save anything.

I think he meant the thread is shit since nothing will ever come to the US, and Carpre Fulgur suppose to save us from that.

I don't really see any game that I am dying to play in the trailer though.

About to load up that massive trailer video but before I do I have a question for those who have given it a watch:

See any interesting fighting games? I've been on a doujin fighter kick lately and I'd really like to see some that are currently in development.

Oh, alright lol

I haven't really seen this game before, or others in the series, but I can understand the lack of enthusiasm if it's already existed for 8 years without improvement. I guess that would make this release pretty lazy, then.

Oh, it's this again. Woof. Their first few releases weren't great and if they haven't improved it much, blah. Looks better, somewhat.

Steve, the dog with no powers that we let hang out with us all for some reason
Saw the whole hour and so far the only interesting game for me was Rime Berta, some sorts of Tactics Ogre/Disgaea game.

There's a trial version on the website, too.

I don't think there was a fighting game on the one-hour trailer.

Yeah I am not seeing too much there that jumps out at me personally.
As usual a lot of Touhou stuff which I have never been too interested in. The rogue-like one looks okay though. 不思議の幻想郷
I guess it is just a collection of all the previous versions of the game.

It looks like EGS will be absent again this year... That is too bad as their games are some of the few in the scene which I will consistently play. I was hoping to talk to them last year but they didn't make it in time then as well.

edit: Huh actually it looks like they will be there, just not showing the Territoire game.

Was waiting for you to pop in and comment on it.
Btw, 20th Anniversary.......nm....you just mentioned it in IRC

Yeah certain models and animation look better, but pretty much all sources say the mechanic has been the same.

It's a real shame.

Then again, it's been a poor shame since 1999 for us poor CF fans...

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I hope they arrive to PSN/XBLA, these games need more exposure.

By the way, any interesting RPGs or graphic novel/adventure games there?

That Dungeon Prime game actually looks pretty sweet. Probably the nicest surprise I have seen so far.
I am downloading the trial version now. :)

The fact that I am gonna get paid to try this out almost makes me feel guilty. Almost.
