This Casino...bruh. I have the worst luck. Any good strategies? Those prize items look too good.

Basically, get as many tokens as you can (Cash and Carrie will give you some after you do their quest, then you can just gamble + abuse quicksave for more). 18,000 is ideal, but it's okay if you have less.

Then:

1. Go to the roulette table and quicksave.

2. Place your tokens like this in stacks of 500. (If you don't have 18,000 yet, just try to spread them out as evenly as you can in this pattern)
bHXrajw.jpg

(here's an alternate picture showing 21500 tokens, but it's a bit more risky)

3. There's a decent chance you'll get 40,000+ tokens from spinning the wheel. If so, quicksave; if not, reset.

4. Repeat steps 2-3 as needed.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
This is exactly where I am and it's stalled me out for a bit.
Really the only part of the game that I can fault the pacing.

I mean, thankfully I've played the game before and remember this part so I knew what I was getting myself into - but I could totally see people giving up on this during their first playthrough. Power through it, it gets better!

It's not even my first playthrough, it's just a hump I need to get over, haha. Thanks for the encouragement regardless!

Holy shit, thanks. I just tried this and within about 5 minutes I'm up from 20k tokens to 94k tokens! D:

I forgot how much I hated the mid-game "go here to follow
Dhoulmagus
, but you need the
Magic Mirror
to get in, which you can get from
The King of Argonia
, but only after you
help his son get a lizard heart
, then once you've got the
Magic Mirror
it doesn't
work right until it's recharged
".

Like, get on with it. I feel like I've just played for 3 hours and not accomplished anything of significance.

Charmles is the worst.

I feel you, and this makes me think about how much better Baccarat/casino is handled. They make the whole story there a sidequest instead of something that gets in your way.

Haha, yeah. There was definitely some fatigue setting in there for me as well. Part of it is to have a big build-up to
Dhoulmagus
, but I suspect most of it is to make you absolutely loathe Prince Charmles. (If that's the case, then it definitely worked.)

Having a lot of trouble with two of Cameron's challenges.

The first is #7, which is to get a photo of a tap devil that's dancing. I must have taken 50 different photos of those damn things dancing out in the field, but so far not a single one has registered as completing the challenge. (I've seen them outside Argonia at night, and a few times outside Neos. Is there another place they appear?)

The other one is #127, which is to take a photo of Cash and Carrie together. I've already completed their quest, unfortunately; wish I'd known about this earlier. The two are still in the same room in their home now, but no photo with them both in it registers.

I hope I haven't screwed myself out of 100% here...

Well the game would be very short if everything was simple wouldn't it.

Not sure about #127, but for #7, it's a very specific animation that isn't what you think it might be. I had a lot of trouble with that one myself. You have to do it when their feet are on the ground and their legs are going back and forth when they're in one place, not when they're jumping.

Finally got the game yesterday (still waiting on FE: Awakening to arrive, one more for the backlog!)

I'm new to the franchise and I also bought this game at a bad time since I just started school again and I'm busy studying for the most part, so I will only be able to maybe get 3-4 during the week and a few more over the weekend

Would it be wise to hold on and start the game when I have more time? I know generally you wouldn't to have long pauses playing an RPG because of story and mechanics, but I'm not familiar with Dragon Quest

Ah, thanks! I got it after about 15 more minutes. That's a frustratingly rare animation...or at least it was for me.

As for Cash and Carrie: I finally got an angle that the game accepted as the two of them together! It has to be very precise or it won't work. For anyone else having trouble, here's the winning picture:

Just play when you're free. Everyone needs some fun time, even stressed out students.

Being handheld makes it perfect for quicker sessions.

This game is pretty short session friendly. You can press Y button at any time to party chart, and this pretty much serves as a "What you're supposed to be doing right now" button. So you can come back to the game a few days later and your party members will point you in the right direction.

Is there a good guide for the Alchemy stuff that's worth making? I'm currently at the
mirror quest
. And I've kept pretty much everything I've found and have done some heavy exploring in all.

One of the things this game does really well is give you a lot of incentives for exploring.

- You can find new monsters for the arena
- You can fin get photos for the camera quest
- You can find equipment and money, both of which are extremely valuable
- You can find mini medals
- You can find hordes of metal slimes

Every time I reach a new area, I'm always excited by the new stuff I can find. I really like that.

Hey, fun aside: I just got an import copy of Theatrhythm Dragon Quest. I've only ever played VIII (and a few hours of IX) but I loved Theathrym Final Fantasy, and I'm loving VIII, so I figured I'd enjoy this.

I'm curious about exploring the music from all the other games...

How to build Red? I think I'll get 66 in Roguery at least, but no idea about the weapons lines.

I dunno how to fit her into the party too. I already replaced Yangus with Morrie. Angelo seems pretty essentially, so does she replace Jessica?

Fans and Knives. You only need through Fullheal for Roguery.

I'm sure this has been asked a bunch of times already but I just picked the game up and am unsure of how to build the two characters I have now. I did some reading and I understand the basics for the 4 og characters and how you should look at them as a team vs individuals.

I just want to if there's any guide out there that gives builds that will carry me through the game?

Gamefaqs a lot, but keep in mind it's really hard to mess up characters and you get 2 extra ones in this version. Also Jessica's Whips line has been nerfed if you are using a PS2 guide.

You want Fans and Knives, as Linkura pointed out.

I wouldn't really say that Angelo is essential; in the post-game, his main use is as another user of Defending Champion, as the Hero is the best healer. I generally ran Hero/Morrie/Red/Jessica, with Angelo in place of Jessica for a few fights.

I just started this(only a month late) after finishing 7th Dragon. The game looks really good on the 3DS screen, pretty much the same as I remember it on PS2.

Agreed. Angelo can be replaced. Red has a skill that is essentially Kazing, and has better damage output than Angelo.

Is it still the case that there was no extra Special item released last week ? I saw some guesses it was going to be every 2 weeks for the special items , don't want to miss anything so just checking.

Orichalcum are starting to appear, so far I made a LMS for Red.

Dunno if I should make a Super Falcom Blade for the hero, I use both Red and Morrie so my team has excellent fire-power and I feel like I'll end up healing most of the times. I should also get Angelo's best armor from the Photo Quest too.

Pretty sure this section is to
help sell the fake out faux-climax at the Dark Ruins.

You spend a ton of effort just getting into that ominous place that it really feels like you've reached the end.

Hori does the same thing in Chrono Trigger.
The cast and player is lead to believe that defeating Magus will stop Lavos from destroying the world. So they work to stop Magus, and to do that they need the Masamune. They find the Masamune, but it's broken. So they need to find someone to repair it. They find Melchior, but he needs Dreamstone to fix it. They then travel back to prehistoric times and get it. But oh no, the Gate Key got stolen. They get that back and are finally able to get the Masamune repaired, so finally we can go fight Magus. After all that it really feels like the climax of the story.

Then the game fakes you out and reveals the plot is more complex then you thought.

(Spoiler tags not so much for CT, but because through context it would spoil this game.

They just released a new bonus item recently, actually! It's a Double Bubble (double experience points for 10 battles). That makes it about 9 days since the Candy Cane, which is a bit of an odd schedule.

There's been a new item every day, just not special items.
I've gotten like three double bubbles and a seed of strength.

Ah, really? I knew about the smaller items each day, but the Double Bubble seemed more special. In that case, maybe the schedule is every two weeks, so the time to watch is later this week.

Except when they don't, lol. I'm not saying this isn't true most of the time, but I just came back to the game after a week away. I go to party chat and no one says anything about the quest re: where to go, except Jessica. She asks, "So you know where we're supposed to be going?" I say no, to which she replies, "Well some leader you are!" or something along those lines. Gee, thanks. :p

I eventually found what I was looking for, but it took far too long.

Lol yeah the same thing happened to me last night, I had to get on Gamefaqs to get pointed in the right direction because party chat was useless. Not a big deal.

I got the ship on Friday and by Monday I've been to so many new places on the map. Once I got to Argonia and Baccarat I felt like the land really opens up with a lot of wide spaces to explore and get lost in - I feel a bit overwhelmed so I've just settled on farming liquid metal slimes for a while! I had made a beeline for Baccarat but I'd forgotten about the casino not immediately being accessible which was a bit of a bummer.
