Wanted to try the Redesigned mod but holy goddamn shit, it's way too confusing. Maybe some time later, I don't feel like spending hours and doing random shit until it works. :/

I can never get mods to work on with New Vegas. I manually modded Oblivion to hell but with NMM I can't ever get everything to play together nicely.

If I messed up and now the exe crashes is the only way to fix it by reinstalling the game? Or can I just verify integrity of local files? Next time I'll install mods one by one and test each one.

You've probably still got a mod file referencing another file that you've deleted left in your load order. Try disabling literally all mods and see if that is ok.

Beware also though; some dumbasses have been packaging their mods with .NAM files. These are special files that tell the game engine to load a mod no matter what, even if the user has deselected them from the load order. This was intended only for things like the official DLCs, but morons have been packaging them with their user made mods, which makes them literally impossible to install unless you delete the related .NAM file as well. I know Mission Mojave does this, for example.

Thanks for the reply. I tried removing everything in the load order once with just the official addons enabled and once with just the one core file enabled both times it still crashed so I assumed something overwrote an important file or some other. Off the top of my head I had ADAM, new Vegas uncut stuff, free side NPC, new vegas redesigned, oju poco (?) texture pack, FOOK and a UI mod. I think I will just reinstall would that clean everything up or do I have to something with the mod manager?

I also tried removing some stuff from the load order like FOOK or new Vegas redesigned to no avail.

ENBSeries v0.194 for Fallout 3 / New Vegas

Removed fix for transparency bug of some objects, because by uknown reason it not work for some users and makes objects transparent. Added memory reducing feature (like in version for Skyrin in ENBoost) via two additional variables in the enbseries.ini under [MEMORY] category, work best on NVidia cards, with AMD it's much slower and not very effective against CTDs. Added borderless window features for both windowed and full screen modes. Added AddDisplaySuperSamplingResolutions parameter which allow to run game in greater resolution downsampled to current display mode to simulate supersampling (antialiasing), works only if game set to full screen mode, modify then resolution in video options to same as desktop*2.

Boris added some really nice features again!

Tried installing a bunch of mods yesterday, but I'm guessing my load order isn't right yet. The game crashed and burned. I used BOSS. There's some other mods I need to sort manually, but the launch menu's data file menu just looks so weird that I can't make sense of it.

Are you using nexus mod manager?

Maybe try creating a merged patch and seeing if that improves anything. Without knowing which mods you're using we can't really help. Hell, I probably couldn't even help knowing which mods.

Basic stuff mostly, nowhere near the 100+ mods I'm running for Skyrim. I'll figure it out when I have time. :D

So I rarely replay games, especially ones of this size. I bought both 3 and NV in the summer sale. I really like the sound of Wanderers Edition, but I'd also actually like to experience the game as is. So what I'm thinking:

Play (the reportedly superior) NV as a Fallout 3 style game first.

Then play Fallout 3 with Wanderers as a STALKER game.

That sound like it'll work? You don't miss out on any content by playing Wanderers, do you?

The last time I played, the ctds I got from mods were from WMX expanded. Hopefully there's new quest mods. Itching for more after Project Brazil.

Nope. You can play the original game just fine. It just adds a lot of tweaks that allow you to customize your playthrough better.

Why the long case?
FUUUUUUUUCK.

FINALLY. Finally New Vegas is working with NMM. I swear, I tried everything. Then finally I just re installed it on my other SSD and now it works perfectly. I cannot contain my excitement.

I'm getting the "File not found" error on every file I try to download from NMM. Manual downloads too.

Seems like a site issue. Guess I'll just have to wait it out.

I had the same issues yesterday, apparently they moved their database servers or something a few days ago. Seems to work for me now tho, downloading something manually right now.

I got most of what I needed yesterday without any problems. Manual still doesn't work either. At least for the files I need.

Loving Project New Vegas.

Yeah, it's got some rolling downtime. Very annoying sometimes.

I'd download and install Project Nevada, but looks like it has no real controller support. I'm still a peasant at heart.

Installed an ENB and limited the FPS to 30 to prevent it stuttering too much. Man, ever since I started PC gaming, that 60 fps has spoiled me. I'm not used to 30 anymore.

Because I have not seen anyone mention it yet and yes I did look this mod was ridiculously awesome in New Vegas. It gives you 100 songs, out of copyright, that fit right into the old style of the quasi-retro feel of NV. Stuff like Pete Seeger, Leadbelly, and old time blues and folk music: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/44139//?

A seriously cool mod folks. I also recommend without hesitation EVE as it went FINAL recently, Bloodspatter mod, NMC rextures obv, NSkies, Weapon Retexture, Vert's Foliage if you can handle it, Casinos NPCs, and maybe one or two more if you want the Vanilla plus some experience. I tend to stay away from the other mods as they change the game too much for me and I'm only doing this once.

The 4GB extension and stutter remover mod are also totally needed. My 770 4GB runs like a dream in this game with 8xMSAA and transparency AA as well. Sadly, SSAO looks like dogshit on foliage in this game but luckily NMCs textures are nice and gritty and lovely anyway.

Anyone using a AMD card and enb v194? Game keeps on ctd'ing me whenever I try to load the newest enb. Currently using v173 right now.

Late response, but Boris said it had something to do with the AMD drivers. Everyone is hoping that the next set up drivers will fix the issue. I'm in the same boat!

Installed Tale of Two Wastelands, the New Vegas mod that adds all the Fallout 3 content and let's you travel between wastelands. Here's my report

-The install takes for fucking ever. It will seem like it freezed, but it's still working. You need both games with ALL the DLC, so get both goty editions on steam or something. Also recommended to install on top of New Vegas.

-You need Fallout Mod Manager or the Nexus Mod Manager to make it work. Also, use only the simplest mods for New Vegas, not the ones for FO3.

-It is as stable as New Vegas on Windows 7. This is the best way to play FO3 on this OS. Only had two crashes last night, when FO3 usually kicks me out all the time. Also, no GFWL which is always good.

-Even if you start as the Lone Wonderer, you are playing New Vegas. You get one perk every two levels. I used a NV mod to bring it back to the FO3 style (so technically I am cheating. Sue me). Keep in mind that they are the NV perks too, so they may differ slightly even if they were in FO3 originally.

-Some people are reporting that Hardcore mode isn't balanced for FO3, in particular making the Zeta DLC impossible if you didn't bring tons of water.

-You take a train to travel between wastelands. Currently one ticket costs 500 caps, which isn't that expensive but it's nothing to sneeze at. The Washington one is next to Dukov's place, the Mojave one is inside of the strip, which to me makes no sense since it breaks the main quest in NV.

-The modders are talking about making the plot consistent between games. Which for some of them would mean making the train only available after you beat Broken Steel, because reasons. That's crazy lunatic talk, hope they just move the Mojave train to Goodsprings and call it a day.

-Some items in Washington are changed to their Mojave equivalent. Particularly painful are the skill magazines, most (but not all) have been changed to the temporary boosting ones.

-Some things are broken or changed. May be the FO3 goty edition, which I hadn't played much because windows 7, but people everywhere are constantly out of their usual places, sometimes scared by enemies. Mutants don't have hunting rifles but assault rifles because ??? The BOS soldiers protecting Threedog are ultra badass now and can take down the Behemoth on their own.

Conclusion: If you have both Bethesda FO games, you need this. You may have to endure some weird stuff, fiddle with the installation a lot, but it is the best way to play FO3 on modern systems right now, and you have all the games in one save. Hope they don't go ahead with their weird locking-down-the-train plans.

Dunno if they "fixed" the NV ending so you can keep playing after it, even if nothing changes.

can't really answer, haven't used fwe in a long time (not a fan of fallout 3 at all)

Just installed this the other day and got a bunch of mods installed (Project Nevada, Nevada Skies etc). I found one i used to use in FO3, Metal Squeezer.

Now i d/led and activated it in NMM and ran BOSS and it listed it as 'Active' and with no problems. I start use NMM and run nvse...but i cant find it in my inventory under aids.

I've reloaded the game a few times but can't figure out why its not working. All my other mods seem to work ok.

Any ever use this mod before?

Yeah i deactivated it and then ran and saved the game and then activated it. Then i thought it didnt work but after about 20 seconds it said it was added to the inventory lol

Now it works so its cool heh

I'm going PC this gen, and FO3/NV are a couple of favorites. How bad/hassle is this issue getting FO3 running on 7& 8?

apparently less so now than it ever was

but why would you go through that bother if you can play the immensely better and more compatible with windows and gfwl-less FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS!

I mean seriously there's a sexbot called fisto in that game, what else do you want brah

ok, now i cant seem to get Nevada Skies to work right.

I have it listed as the mod in the order in NMM and it shows up in the game. I can get the temp readings and open up the menu with it.

But it never rains or storms. The sky has changed and night is real dark..but i cant get it to rain at all :(

I changed the rain to medium frequency, but nothing. Maybe it takes a long time to rain but it's been 2 ingame days and no rain.

I'm pretty sure in the menu you can force weather changes. Might be worth having a root round there to test that.

I planning to do a second playthrough in New Vegas.
In the first I felt like I didn't do everything that I could do. I'm sure I have some more side-quest to complete, but i don't know, I've somehow lost interest in that savegame. :lol
I think I'm going to do an Hardcore + Project Nevada playthrough.

So, I was thinking about using some nice mods.
Except for those linked in this reddit post

http://www.reddit.com/r/fnv/comments/zs4o9/a_detailed_list_with_links_for_the_best_mods_for/

which other mod do you recommend?

One thing: I don't want to install any kind of graphical mod (texture, lightning, ENBs...) or mod that alter the game's color palette and atmosphere, adds perks or monsters or lore-breaking stuff. I really don't want to start fiddle with textures and graphical glitches... Plus I kind of like how New Vegas looks.

And, is there a mod that adds Fallout 3 radio stations in the game?

Are the weapons in Project Nevada balanced enough to be good to include? I feel that there is already such a ridiculous amount of weapons in vanilla New Vegas, that I'm not sure that I should change that. But I want the armor and apparel from it.

well that list's missing new vegas and freeside restoration, which are absolute essentials for me

then a couple mods I really like (and the creator is a super nice dude that deserves the attention) are his npc project mods

he basically added a ton of cut npcs that make a lot of areas feel a lot more lively and finished. it's great.

also here are moburma's awesome restoration mods

finally for the love of god get mtui

the rest is basically covered by that reddit thread
