FFCC: The Crystal Bearers Website (Releasing NA 26.12.09)

Why can't S-E just release the videos normally, and have information accompanying each of them. Why go through all this hinting and click-farming.

This whole thing is just a bad idea. Let's hope they don't try it again.

That's what I'm saying. Do normal updates and have an explanation for the updates. Hell they should be doing this on their FFCC blog!

From what I can gather, they're hoping it'll attract new people. The hits only count when it's a new person, refreshing doesn't work. So it seems their hope is that people who have gone to the site will tell others to visit to get more hits. This idea thou, is really bad. New people who see these videos aren't going to go "WOW, AMAZING! I NEED TO TELL SOMEBODY ELSE!" and instead they're just turning off people who do have interest in the game.

I really do hope they change the way these update work but I'm most likely hoping for too much. :(

Well its not that the idea itself is bad, its just very poorly executed with these shitty videos that show nothing.

you know I don't think the videos would be bad at all if they came with a simple one paragraph explanation. These are clearly simply attempting to demonstrate basic gameplay elements in the title, but they are just boring and bizarre without context.

Example:

<ROCK HUMPING VIDEO>

In the video above we demonstrate the unique inanimate object mating system within Crystal Bearers. Players can choose to mate with many different rocks in the course of the journey, with surprising results! (items, rare weapons, etc)

All I have to say is :lol :lol :lol

Wow, at least the first video looked like some kind of tech demo/feature demo

Not sure wtf this was supposed to be

And they have a blog for the FFCC games that they could do this in.

This is either the stupidest or the most brilliant set of preview movies I have ever seen.

I must admit, I can't wait for the next one.
Same here.

I'm guessing these are to show off AI and object interactions... judging by previous trailers it seems like it's going to be possible to set up wierd chain interactions.. like if you make bombs want to attack something and have those things enamored with it, it creates a weird self-sustaining loop. Etc.

I thought it was just a guy caught under a rock.

Presumably you could use the main character's lift power to take the rock off of him and save him.

It's just like... the worst animation ever to show off this scenario.

i like the micro-management aspect of this. this will be the first game where the hero will be able to arrange adult attractions in public places, and then profit from ticket sales. apparently non-casual humping, including object humping, can go for a higher price. i say way better than trimming grass for rupees.

So, Crystal Bearers is code for prostitution?
Hmmm.

I just love how S-E is screwing with us with the movie titles. "It's gonna be a long night" "Don't touch that dial" They're just rubbing in the fact that they could show something cool, but then they don't.

Seems like it's showing off the level of interaction we'll see with the NPCs in the game. I imagine our Hero used his Jedi powers to lift that rock and dropped it on the unsuspecting citizen. And the crowd gathers around to sympathize with his misfortune. Or not. I dunno.

I'm really not sure why S-E is showing off silly movies like this. This is a high production game, with plenty of VA and cutscenes... and is quite impressive looking to boot.

Are you allowed to show us the real videos? :p

Toying with us until the Square Enix event in may? (or if that isn't happening this year, until E3?)

This is just lame. The quality of those videos is awful. But from an artistic point of view, the game looks really promising.

They most resemble the preview movie that played before entering a level in the GameCube original. Now, that was fine and everything but it isn't what you want to show in order to hype fans up.

There are plenty of scenes they could show that would probably get people to look forward to it.

And Lyle just sitting there watching the guy before running off was hilarious... :lol

Especially considering he's the only one in the town with the power to lift that rock. It's like he was saying "fuck you dude, you're on your own." :lol

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

I don`t know either - seems like they don`t want the public to think they puttin a real big final fantasy game on wii when 13 is comin....

So, the protagonist made this rock fall on that fellow in order to stun him ? The subsequent "touch of humour" between the characters is kinda tasteless. I hope it won't be all sugar and babies between you and the ennemies...

That has got to be the most ill-conceived stuck-under-a-rock scene in videogame advertisement history. The moans don't help. (And cripes, that looping "thrashing about" sample is just annoying.)
I feel like I've been contributing clicks for some fetish porn website. :D

I mean, it's still mildly funny and whatnot, but when the movie snippet titles sound like double entendres, the actual content is easily misunderstood, and the videos are incredibly light on content without any context to boot, then Square-Enix is doing something wrong. This is quickly becoming weird.

I mean I'm interested in the game, and I like to speculate with my peers, but this is not how you go about keeping a small fanbase on their toes and glued to their monitors. There is nothing to discuss here. There needs to be some actual pieces of information to kickstart any kind of rabid, yet inconsequential discussion. A foundation, something to put everything in perspective.

And if you don't supply that, at least make the videos so funny/interesting/awesome that fans will want to share them.

But whatever. *adds his daily click*

When i really think about it though, if it was just normal videos I probably wouldn't be so interested in seeing the next videos immediately.

Now i am really curious to see where this is going. Maybe they hooked me :lol

Oh shit guys, next video is up!

I see SquareEnix to one point doing this :lol
