The OST will very likely be fully orchestrated as far as instruments go, that we can be pretty sure of (I mean, they even went ahead and orchestrated KHII's OST in 2.5 HD Remix even though that was just an HD remaster, no reason why a PS4 game wouldn't be fully orchestrated), but she might add some variety by having some more electronic tracks in the game.I wonder if every piece in the game will be a full freaking orchestra with real instruments.
I sure hope so. Fuck synthetic sounds
Also yeah Violin for lyfe
There is a place for everything of course! Especially in the hands of someone like shimomura.
Nothing beats real instruments though xd xp
Isn't music one of, like, the most common things to cause ASMR to people? Didn't think people getting huge feels for music would be that surprising to anyone.Wow, I've never ASMR'd off music before! That's interesting

shinamoura
Shinomura
Let me google for you, "im feeling lucky", with ASMR being the searched term
shinamoura doing the good work as always
Re: orchestral vs synthetic composition: That's what FFXII was. Or at least, in concept, if not in execution. Orchestral as a term applies a lot more to the instrumentation than it does to if it's fake or real instruments. You can have orchestral with real or fake instruments. You can also have non-orchestral (e.g. EDM, rock, big band, whatever) with real or fake instruments. Orchestral is a term w.r.t. genre. Real or fake is a term w.r.t. sound quality.
Still better than "somnus lacrima" and "somnus nomura" in the same sentence though
This thread got me to rewatch every single Versus XIII/XV trailer. All of them are still great. Interesting seeing how the character designs evolved over the years.
Thank god I've been listening to the trailer with the voices for the music, 1:10-2:34, over 1000 repeats lol. Now someone has to upload a youtube video so I can repeat it.

I really hope they use real strings and brass constantly for the orchestral songs. They're doing it for KH2.5, so I'm pretty confident.
I was just referring sound quality and usage of traditional instruments and performers.
All the music on this trailer was "real" right ?
you worked on it IIRC
So in a sense there is no "need" to produce the additional strings in the background because there are stock versions of it available ? Did I get this right ?Interesting.
No. One of the things that's common in the typical Hollywood fashion today is you layer stuff like additional strings or string sample libraries behind to get an even richer sound. Trade secret. To answer your question in a more layman/practical way though, as far as what you hear out in front goes, yes.
This sounds better than the version in the OP :x

Shimomura's music is okay, but the real star is whoever her orchestrator is. That person is putting in the hard work and it shows.
I honestly like the original better. Someone put the original on YouTube already so I can listen on repeat!
I love you.Right-click, save link as...
Just wanted to say that MILITIS VAGUS and GRATIA MUNDI are NOT REAL TITLES for the tracks.
GuardianSoul just named them that and now people are going wild. These are the consequences that you have to deal with when you pretentious Latin, Nomura.
How will society ever cope, with a couple of mistitled tracks that will get rectified once the game and the OST is out?! HOW?!
First half sounds like a spiritual successor to FFXIII's Defiers Of Fate/Blinded By Light. Probably not intentional, but I like the idea that these two games are still connected in some way.
They won't. They streets are already on fire and Nomura's already been kicked off for his antics.
Somnus Nomura
A guy re-created this track almost perfectly just after the trailer came out and I've had it as my ring tone on my phone ever since. Hopefully we get the MP3 of this real version early so I can replace it. Such a good track! D:
