Week of May 20th to the 26th, 2013.

Fighting Games Weekly is the weekly discussion thread for all things fighting games. News, events, streams, videos, players, drama, everything fighting game related.

Don't know what to watch right now? Check the FGCPros Twitch Group or Jaxel's Stream Viewer. If you want to watch multiple streams at once, you can use Jaxel's customizable multiviewer as well.

New to FGC-GAF is the FGC-GAF Index which lists the fighting games GAFers plays as a neat reference with some rough statistics to boot. To add yourself to the index, quote this post and use the survey link below. Please remember to save/bookmark the "Edit your response" link so you can edit your responses if/when you buy a game already on the list or a new game that releases in the future.

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
So mostly everyone in Injustice top 8 can play multiple characters. Is that a tester thing or do you guys think that's how the game is going to go?

Tell me you read and watched at least a bit of what I collected, Karsticles.
You are gonna ride that inside joke until the wheels fall off, aren't ya? lol

I like Anji because when I saw him for the first time he struck me as really cool. I'd never seen someone use twin fan weapons in a fighting game and I thought his overhead game was really neat with the butterflies and orbs. The most amazing thing was his style of fighting looking like a fan dance. It's something you couldn't see in an American fighting game imo and his grabs are beautiful in motion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-De9Zfbkn38 (great examples of his grabs and combos)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfKsyomk0Wk (fighting one of the best pots in the world who was on arc revo last night)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMy2auKtTYQ (Amazing use of overheads and mindgames galore. You have to appreciate this)
http://youtu.be/Ity8mj1-5n0?t=6m20s (Lime carrying his team on those broad shoulders)

Probably one of the least understood characters in the game since it took years for me to run into this footage. There is more from a guy who goes by the handle AGF, but those are longer so it'll take time to dissect them. Also... I like his other colors too. His outfit goes well with bright colors.
No one is gonna want to watch old Guilty Gear anymore at this rate. :(

I watched a round or so from 3 of them. When someone posts a lot of gameplay videos, I tend to just want a highlight or something. If I miss Marvel majors I don't even go back and watch GF to see what happened. I just don't have the patience to sit and watch a 15-20 minutes of matches at a time.

I just went back and saw the FChamp vs ChrisG match that I closed the stream for.

FChamp had won that set 3-0, 3-1 at the worst. The two matches he lost he has no one to blame but himself. His strategy/tech "worked" but he didn't close it. Its like you whittle down the opposition team to LVL1 Frank West and all you have to do is chip him for a pixel and you get greedy trying to fireball him at close range and he supers through you into a comeback.

I still think its gimmicky as fuck but hey... at least it did something. That team is still very unoptimized the way Champ plays it, I think Karst should tweet him some pointers.

Nope it's on the unreal engine.
Being on the Unreal engine doesn't make games shit or mean they can't work well. MK9 and Injustice' issues are mostly by design.

The only thing you should be afraid of is texture pop in. Which is of course, the absolute last thing to worry or care about in a fighting game.

Flocker is EMP

RIP FGC

KingItachi Won

LOL Smed

So that's why Chris G didn't give a fuck. Already lost once to Flocker and the ultimate revenge was to let him win the tournament so EMP would sponsor him so his skills would diminish so the next time they meet, Chris G will have a body bag ready.

Damn Chris G is a cold bastard!

how many belts are they going to add to his design?
Hopefully none

Johnny's design is simple and cool. He is also tall and lean with all that black. They better remember that before they pull another Sol on the guy. He'll probably look a bit different, though.

Pretty much why I mostly stuck with videos that last less than four minutes and I timestamped where appropriate. Ain't no one got time for that.

The engine is not great and I don't care for it. I would have loved to see if Id tech 5 could run a fighting game well, but that will never happen.
