Man if you had just put what you are putting into this game in the original XIII we would have had a much better original game. That said, yes XIII-2 looks great.

I blame it on Noel, things are for the most part okay until he shows up. The first half of the trailer with the music and sans Noel was pretty great, and then the Charice song + Noel came in and we're back to Square one.

At least Square-Enix has gone back to the international versions having the same core song as the Japanese release, even if the international versions are dubbing the song.

I'm not gonna see the trailer because I fear giant spoilers in it but it's so funny to imagine what's in through ur comments guys :D

But I'm curious about the gameplay stuff shown there, is there something actually new?

I think My Hands is terrible; this one... for me it's just that I don't think it fits very well. At least Eyes on Me and Melodies of Life, while definitely cheesy, were at least good, memorable themes/melodies. And I actually liked the FFXII song.

My Hands and My Hands-2 are just j-pop bullshit without any thematic or compositional integrity.

I think if looks awesome, in a terrible way. Some parts of the gameplay look great, but the rest? It kinda feels like Kingdom Hearts invaded FF XIII, with its story and characters. Snow looks even more silly with his hair (even the shopped bald Snow avatars back then looked better) and I don't want to know anything about Serah and certainly don't want to play that whiny little brat. But then again, we have Chocobo races and towns. In HD.

It's weird that it goes from that to "Jump 30 feet into the air and cut a bitch 5 times in a row" within two minutes

I've watched an awful movie today.Based on your logic i shouldn't think it's awful since there will always be other ones which are even worse.
Your logic doesn't make any sense.

You mean crystarium?

Everything is all unlocked at the start, no more waiting until you progress to unlock the next level. Monsters also get their own crystarium too (I think)

The trailer is a mix of :D and D: for me
The gameplay parts, the exploration and the battles and the gimmick extras all look like good fun
And then there's the cutscenes, which have this horrendous script and a boatload of melodrama - It's probably not as bad actually playing the game, just that rubbish theme song bringing it all down
I'm sure I'll enjoy the game, but I'm not really warming to any of these characters - the villain seems pretty lame as well

Yeah. I've thought this too. Like, maybe they've just picked a bunch of extra dramatic scenes which seem awkward since they're out of context.

...Right? Guys?

I don't know, I thought the pre-release XIII trailers made the story scenes look okay. The final game, not so much.

Given this is SE and Toriyama, it's entirely possible that in context they'll be even worse.

I live in Canada, but lately air mail has been taking two weeks for me (Ontario).

Probably better to go with express if you need it quickly.

Nope. That is the Japanese language only version. The one with Japanese VA and eng/chinese subtitles comes in January. Also the version with English VA and english subtitles is coming in January as well.

But there's no pre-order page yet either? Reading earlier posts it doesn't seem like it but I was just making sure.

I'm thinking that Kaias guy won't be the main villain, and will probably come onto the parties team at some point, or get killed off after having a change of heart - he's getting way too much screen time in the trailers and interacting with the group too much to be the real villain
