I found the best spot to fish Clams.

Also these things eat through lures like they are sharks. I spent like 100k of Heavy Steel Jig now. <_<

I don't understand people problem with that fight. I was expecting Titan Ex, instead is avoid aoe, grab some balls, LB an add.

wut

It's main story. People do this after doing stuff like ramuh and shiva hm. It's nowhere near the same level of difficulty. It's definitely not titan EX, it's not even levi EX, probably like mog EX level or so in terms of coordination maybe, slightly, but it's still far above all the other hm stuff. Some people are very bad at this game. Not like "you didn't research your class and spreadsheet your BiS gear to maximize accuracy based on the content you're clearing", and more like "yo, you should try using your skills in the right order to get the combo bonus damage". It's just hard relative to the level of stuff you expect from a story trial.

From having to do 41 Snowcloaks where a bunch of new players are going through it, there is an insane amount of mis-knowledge out there.

Half of the DPS move around erratically without lockon so they miss over half their auto attacks. I had a DRG that didn't use heavy thrust through half of the dungeon. I had BLM's who didn't cast anything but Fire and Blizzard 3. I had a SCH say "I'm not a SMN, why would I use shadow flare". I had one that responded to my "I'm overgeared, feel free to stay in cleric stance as Eos can cover me during half of these pulls" with "I don't have cleric stance cross-classed".

The issue is there is nothing to teach them, especially with the poor learning curve due to being carried through content like Titan HM. Most North American players don't like taking advice either.

I don't think anyone mentioned this but who is supposed to run under the meteors? Just the tanks?

Also how do you unlock the ninja run as a Ninja?

I do it too as SCH, I can easily Adlo myself and take 0damage from meteors. WHM could do the same I'm sure. I leave the fairy with the DPS to heal whatever damage they take and go lustrate them if needed.

If you're a ninja, you run like a ninja. So at 30 I guess is when you "unlock" it, since that's when you unlock ninja. Can't use it on other classes/jobs.

So is
Midgardsormr protecting us now in place of Hydaelyn?
He had a very good point with
asking us whether we've actually done anything of our own accord
(obviously not due to game design, but I suppose in the way
our characters are written into the story/show independent thought) or if we've just been happily acting as pawns to Hydaelyn
. Thanks to
the Chrysalis battle
we've proven that our
strength doesn't necessarily come from hydaelyn (or at least those of us competent enough to clear content without echo buff)
.

Just started playing this game again, and made a gladiator (most likely going to become a Paladin). I could not get into Ultoros because the realm was full. Is there anyone playing in the server that starts with the letter Bry under the Primal database?

I forgot to mention I still have the rogue class. I initially thought the run animation was based on weapon equipped but I guess it is different in this case.

Yes, the tanks.

I didn't get the second question, ninja run? Once you become a ninja, don't know if you mean that. :/

I see. I took previous advice and popped Sprint and Hallowed Ground prior to getting sucked into the dark void. Finally managed to beat it.

I hate you. On my off hands I have to budget at least 50 materia for the last 2 slots and I've fallen short! Once I used about 55 on the last slot alone, luckily they were Tier I, but that means it was an 8% chance. So RNGJesus definitely doesn't love me when I meld.

On the other hand, last night I went 8/8 in HQing 4* mats starting from 0, which is what I managed to get done with 1 bouillabaisse. I'm really liking my rotation and I really don't know how you guys do it without Waste Not II. This of course means I have no room for Rumination, but it's fine since I never reclaim on mats. For final crafts I haven't used Reclaim in a long time (after failing 3 in a row). I'm even thinking of taking it out entirely (but there isn't anything else I need either, so it stays for the time being).

i also melded vit and str III on last slot. 7% chance. i burned 30-35 materia on one of those melds. the rest of them were pretty smooth 5-10 tries max. i can't complain. i had most materia on hand from collecting months ago and didn't have to deal with market prices. only 10% was bought.

i also skilled my crafting up to 4 stars to craft these. looks like it's the same shit as 3 star months before. they should have stopped at 2 star and introduce another system. this rng stuff is not fun at all. you have to read a tome if you don't want to lose all your gil as a newb.

What do people think about using lock-on?

I think I saw someone here saying that DPS should make use of it a while ago.

You use it to ensure that you won't miss an auto attack because auto attacks cancel when moving left and right (because your head is turned in that direction so you're not facing the enemy and attacking). Other option to maintain auto attacks is to change move left/right to strafe left/right.

This is most relevant to the physical DPS.

Lock-on is very, very good if you're a melee DPS. Learning when to turn it on and off (so you can run freely when needed) is a good increase in your overall DPS because auto-attacks make up a big part of your total damage.

I'd say wait to get into Ultros personally.

Did like 30 sidequests for my first night. Took a minute for the UI to sink in and sooooooo much text. But the sense of accomplishment and progression was definitely felt. In for the long haul...

Huh, tank did it once for fun and we mostly ignored the meteors and just let them do the raid wide damage. Tank just told the healers to treat it like Turn 2 enrage method and even then it seemed like the healers were over healing by a ton.

Well healer was hardly healing, so that combined with a unnecessary damage, and DPS not DPSing...

PS: Odin body does not want to drooooop! WAAAAIII! Lots of hands though, and a few legs.

Lock-on is essential for every job, even ranged.

Whilst I agree in principle, I'm a bard and I largely don't use it and I honestly wouldn't be able to use it all the time, especially in fights like T12 and T13 at all effectively. I've become very good at timing my movements around my AA's and combined with auto-face target I miss out of very few of them. I have tried switching in FCoB in T10 and T11 to see how my DPS improved and tbh there was no noticeable difference (about 410-420 on every clear of both, no pots).

I guess if I put in serious time to become comfortable with locking on and off quickly it would help but tbh I don't have the time for it, nor the patience.

I will say that if I wasn't a controller player this would be less of an issue. I find lock on is a huge issue for me on controller, in almost every instance I dislike restricting my ability to move my camera view freely.

I haven't used Lock-on at all yet. I'm assuming it's mainly a controller thing?

Auto faces you toward a target while you strafe left and right. Big benefit iis you never miss an auto attack. Downside is that it can make dodying aims a bit more difficult.

And, yeah I think it's mostly a controller thing.

It still can help a bit on kb/m, but it's much easier to strafe and face the target on that control scheme without it than controller.

The key is turning on and off lockon based on the kind of dodge/movement you need to do. I set mine to R3 (R stick for camera movement) so it's very easy and quick.

Does minfila ever leave that office? Typical manager.

Only when
she gets kidnapped.

I don't see a bed or anything in that room, so I wonder where she sleeps. Of course there are no bathrooms anywhere in Eorzea so it's a mystery how anyone goes to the bathroom, including her.

I love lock, it really increased my dps on WAR,DRG and BRD. I wa prob missing alot of auto attacks.

Just get used to the unlocking at the right moment.

I always play on controller and lock on improved my dps as MNK significantly (Thanks Bookey for that tip).

Dunno about BRD, I need to parse myself to see.

Lockon added so much DPS for me as a MNK it's insane. I feel like if you're a melee DPS, definitely MNK anyway, you should be using it on the controller, especially if you have latency issues.

I have mine on L3 button so that if I need to move quickly to dodge something I can just click my left thumbstick since I'll have my thumb there for moving anyway.

Makes dodging things like Nerve Gas on T11 super easy if you want to keep stacks up. Circle strafing is also the most efficient way of moving for positionals since you're pretty much moving around the enemy's circle target thing, so you only really need to do small movements left or right for your back and flank positionals.

Its not like I haven't tried it and don't know how it works, I'm saying that I've extensively tried it in hard content and found it gets me killed more than it raises my DPS in any meaningful way. I uses to have it set to R3 (or whatever it's called on tbe 360 controller) when I mained DRG in 2.0 and 2.1 but I found I'd hit it accidentally at very bad times very often.

It just isn't very comfortable or practical for me and I have found ways to adjust to the eay auto attacks work in raid content. The only time it has a real effect is in some add phases if I'm unfamiliar with what's going on, but after a while I get a feel for it and compensate.

Well, I got a few PVP done. It's dumb.

Square please get rid of this mode.

I remember when I found a bathroom on Vana.

One of the many reasons Vana>Eorzea.
