There goes my run after some drag back weirdness. I used pivot to have Hector jump over Sanaki and then Sanaki went over Hector and used drag back. This should have resulted in Hector being in front but somehow Sanaki did then the two of them got blown up back to back.

I put that Fortify Res seal on Eirika.

+3 Atk buff (Sieglinde)
+4 Spd buff (Hone Speed)
+4 Def buff (Rally Defense)
+2 Res buff (Fortify Res)

Now adds +3 Atk +13 dmg to a blade tome user.

Edit: I hate when I go to start the Voting Gauntlet and forget to use the character that gives bonus points.

Strangest team I just fought in Arena. The other two in that team was a level 40 5* Ike and a level 43 5* Reinhardt.

You'll notice why.

So... I pulled a +DEF/-ATK Celica.
I know, it sucks.

But I really like her so I was thinking about how to make her viable and:

This set paired with basic Eirika buffs (+3 ATK +4 SPD) nets me 93 wins 14 losses and 9 inconclusives on the mass duel simulator.

It looks... Really good? Among the losses the most significant threats are absolutely destroyed by Julia, so I was thinking about making a team around Celica/Eirika/Julia/Ninian.
Maybe throwing in a way to give Celica HP back (Reciprocal Aid on Eirika?) and a movement utility on Celica\Julia in order to sinergize well with Ninian.

Is this viable? Could I make something better with Celica? Should I scrap her in favour of my +SPD/-ATK Tharja who has probably much more potential but I also like her far less than Celica? :(

Isn't it not quite 16 dmg? Since +3 Atk is added to the attack stat, while the remaining 13 are added after damage calculations?

So you'd only do exactly extra 16 damage against same colors/grays, but do a bit less/more than 16 extra damage if against color disadvantage/advantage, respectively.

If you are providing this option and already using Eirika to buff, I would say yes.

However I have done some calculations with your Celica and a build with Fury 3, Moonbow, Desperation, and a +Atk seal - she performs better unbuffed than your Tharja, and isn't even too far behind with buffs. Definitely worth a try.

Okay, I didn't know the added damage from blade tomes was added after damage calculations.

At least now I know that so I can correctly calculate when I fight any Spring Camilla units etc.

I don't want to get fabulous arena scores, I feel pretty comfortable with my position around the 4200-4400 weekly range. So if I could make Celica work I'd really be happy with it since I far prefer having a team I find fun to use instead of a focused hyper efficient team.

That said I didn't include Moonbow or Desperation in my build because I focused on the buffed performance, but this is actually very interesting. Nuking someone with the first, hyper buffed attack and then being able to instantly double everything sounds like tons of fun~ Thank you for helping!

My pleasure. We have a Discord linked in the OP of this thread where we gladly help anyone out with build questions like these.

started burning my flags...Robin will probably only get 3x score one more time, maybe twice if we're lucky. I can't check my tablet constantly so I gotta start cashing out.

4* +10s are becoming fairly common now, I've seen several 4*+10 Ruby Sword+ Olivias in particular. I'd make one myself if I had 10 Olivias.

Donnel would be fun to do that on as well, since his stats would be pretty crazy provided you ditched the brave lance.

So, for the Arena Bonus Character rotations, it's currently...

1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th from the current banner.
5th from the (previous?) Grand Hero Battle.
6th, 7th, 8th & 9th are Random (?)
10th is one out of the main characters (Anna, Sharena and Alphonse) rotated

...right?

Thought I finally figured it out after unlocking a few more skills for Azura and Ryoma and getting a couple 688s. Next match after that was back to 680

Running super short on dueling swords so I guess this'll have to do. I was getting 680 as soon as they changed the ranking system with significantly less skill inheritance smh

this is going to be my first Barst, lol. I've been skirting the 200 unit cap for a while now...not burning orbs to expand it, I'll just start sending home some of the 1-2* guys. But yeah, I need to make a decision if I want to try making a 4*+10 or not soon. I could've done it with Subaki, but Quick Riposte is just too useful and I give it out to a lot of 'I might use this guy one day' 5* units like Hawkeye.

I'll probably run the fortify res seal on Azura. My fortify res user is typically my red sword, so it's a way to get it onto them for a little extra. Roy will be damn near immune to green mages with that. So far in the 3 matches I did I've only used him to take out Hector, though.

Got a 4780 Deathless run with Ninian, Reinhardt, Titania, and Xander. Turns out Horse Emblem is great. Ninian + Reposition on the horses gives me a lot of options.

Ninian still doesn't have enough SP for all her skills yet, so I might be able to get higher after some SP grinding.

Do unlocked skills affect Arena score, or just learned ones?

Finally got Julia after almost 300 orbs of crap. Hp+/def- isn't the best but at least not atk-/spd- like my Linde. I'm glad this stupid saga is over now. There is no other unit left that I am dying to get.

At this point I would legitimately be happier to get a 3* Hinata than almost any 5* character. I've been pulling reds so long.

Did the Barst quest for a Hail Mary 1 orb pull. Yet to get Linde so I had to go for the blue. 3% rate and it turns out to be freaking Azura. So now you show up you freaking cow! That makes 2 blue 5 stars from this banner and neither were Linde.

Funny thing is, I only had 5 orbs when this banner started and pulled Julia and now my last 5 I pull another 5 star. Even funnier, both are -Atk.

Haha I'll be similar with a few exceptions. I'll pull all 5 whenever I've got 20 as I'm not focusing on any.

I like having a level 1 character of the army I'm supporting because I can just autobattle and rely on a 40 from my friends list to carry me through. Team Lucina was the absolute worst because you'd just get 3 Lucinas every time vs Ephraim.

4836! Used Xander, Ryoma, Hector, Nowi+1. Tier 18 here I come.

Going to keep singing the praises of TA+Renewal+Reciprocal Aid Xander. Especially in a team of DC units, he just swoops in and recharges someone that just took a big hit like Hector absorbing Reinhardt.

Boey is surprisingly tough with that defensive skill he has. That +10 Boey is probably impossible to kill if he's next to anyone.

Gah, "Boey" is such a stupid sounding name. I hate it.

It might be nice to try to finish that Barst quest for a last-second one-orb pull before the mage banner goes away.

I think I might try something similar with ATiki. Now that I have Julia, I was considering a team of ATiki + Nowi + Julia + bonus guy. I'm not likely to get 5* merges, so maybe I can try to pad my BST by bringing more dragons. That, plus I like ATiki and have been trying to find a way to use her for a while now. Green Tomebreaker Julia will check other Julias, which would be the main threat to Tiki and Nowi anyway.

That's actually cool, I went for the cookie-cutter Fury, Vantage and Threaten Def. He's a 3 levels away from max so just need ot grind a bit more.

The 8th & 9th chars aren't random at all. They are from rotation of the daily Hero Battles (not to be confused with Grand Hero Battle); it has actually completed one full cycle and now rotates back to the start of Subaki and Wrys. The rotation actually follows the exact same order of the daily HB, which is:
Sophia
Virion
Hana
Subaki
Donnel
Lissa
Gunter
Cecilia
Felicia
Wrys
Olivia
Stahl

Last season, we had Hana and Felicia; the season before had Virion and Cecilia; and the one before that had Sophia and Gunter, etc. See the pattern there? Next season's going to have Donnel and Olivia (unless the next mainline banner has 6 units, in which case the daily HB will give way to the additional 2 banner units), which makes me very happy because I have completed project Olivia (5*, Ruby Sword+, Moonbow, Fury 3, WoM 3) on both of my accounts:) For guys who are not as crazy, you could also give 4* + x Olivia some serious consideration.

One member on Team Tharja is running around with a Roy with his A skill as HP+5.

.....why?
Roy is actually pretty tanky without TA. Taking TA off of him is viable depending on what skill you replace it with, but HP +5 is, well... a rather budget choice.

I'd replace TA with something too, but I don't want to grind more SP on him when I'm not likely to continue using him once he leaves this bonus rotation.

I'm having fun replaying that "Watch out, Roy!" meme comic in my head every time I put him up against Hector, though.

The inconsistency can be aggravating, yeah. Have to make the most of the 21 free fights per week by dropping out of low-score fights, but Gauntlet season's having us fight 6 per day that you can't drop out of, making it feel really bad when the swords you're burning are all going towards a sub-optimal run. :s

Just equipped ones.

Wait, how does an offense score of 3490 put you in the top 3000?

Sabre's T13. I imagine most of us are T17/T16.

I...think you just screwed up the order of actions. lol You're supposed to Draw Back with Sanaki first then Pivot with Hector.

I was wondering when Olivia was due. But yeah I can make a +5 at least, and use her instead of Sharena next time around. +5 is damn near identical to a 5* statswise. Only question is if I keep my +atk -def one or merge everyone into a neutral. +SPD would be ideal but I don't have one.

I can do WoM 3 and speed+3 easily. It'd cost me 20k feathers to give her a Ruby Sword+, but a regular one should be fine. If I didn't have Azura I'd happily invest in her though. Now that I've been running a dancer again it's hard to let go.

I'm pretty sure a +5 4* character is identical to a +0 5* character in stats. I remember running exactly that through a calculator before.

A cheaper way to build Olivia is giving her TA2, and then letting her keep her Silver Sword+. That still accomplishes more or less the same thing in making her a specialist, but with less 5* sacrifices. It might even make her better at red vs red if you put Swordbreaker on her after.

You lose the A slot to throw Fury on, though.

yeah, that's what I'd do if I had a +SPD one. But 33 speed is concerning.

a big part of why I like Azura is that she's an effective tank for a red sword, of which there are many, and you'll typically see a sword in Horse Emblem instead of Leo because Leo is ass. Linde can't take physical hits so I have Azura bait out Xanders or whatever. They work well together.

I wouldn't get similar use out of Ruby Sword Olivia, although I have a Tharja who I'll be promoting soon if I don't pull Celica. Axes are common but they come in Hector and Minerva form usually. Luna Minerva would be pretty dicey for Olivia, even with a ruby sword or TA2. Minerva's real troublesome in general, that -1 special is not to be underestimated.

Oh, right. You have 5*'ed Sharena iirc. Yeah, in that case Olivia is not a priority. Guess for you the best case is for the next banner to be a 6-unit one hence delays Olivia for a season or two to make Sharena and Olivia bonus char at different times.

Yeah, since Bunny Chrom I've tended to make my bonus unit into buff bots with renewal and reciprocal aid unless they have a place on my team otherwise. Xander, tho, has a spot on my horse team.

I do have a lvl 1 4* Olivia with rubbish IV but it's probably a good idea for me to have a decent amount of high lvl chars in this bracket stashed away to help with my Arena shinanegans.
Thanks once again.

Yeah, Minerva is dangerous af especially when supported by her Filer Emblem buddies... She is one of the reasons I don't feel safe with non SPD boon Olivia, even with Fury 3. A SPD of 39 (or even 40 with SPD+1 seal) looks a lot better.

Hm, Swordbreaker on Olivia would make her an effective red sword tank too, though you'd lose Wings of Mercy, and it wouldn't solve the problem with Minerva. Though Minerva is rare enough that it might not be a huge issue. At least, I see like ten Hectors for every Minerva/Michaelis/Cherche I see.

I imagine that if I ran into Minerva and Olivia was my only red sword, I'd probably try to soften Minerva with a green before using Olivia to fight her.

Edit: lol, I just said that, and of course I see Minerva in my latest gauntlet battle.
