It was the same game I played back in 2002, then again in '03 and again in '04 and again in '05.

There is no redeeming aspect to the design of that game's single player, hell for as "good" as the MP was it still wasn't nearly as good as United Offensive which I maintain is the peak of the CoD franchise.

I personally didn't care for COD 2 at all either in the campaign or the multi. COD 4 was the game that busted it open for me in both the single player and multi. It must have got something right, it's still top 5 on live even with WAW in the number 2 spot.

This is a joke, right? There were serious sacrifices made to keep the framerate close enough to 60 to keep people claiming that it was buttery smooth. With the way the game looks, it had better run at a perfect, consistent clip.

LOL I Love you man I always love reading your posts :p

Good thing I was talking about CoD:United Offensive and not CoD2 then.

Kind of disappointed in that teaser. Graphically, it looked exactly the same as CoD4 which really isn't very impressive anymore especially coming after KZ2 which dwarfs it. But that really isn't the important part; if it's just a bunch of scripted set pieces with the same weaksauce AI, gunplay, and respawning enemies coupled with a multiplayer component that is largely the same as the previous two then I think I'm going to pass just like I've done on all the new iterations of guitar hero and rock band.

Maybe it's just what I've come to expect from a publisher like Activision milking series for all they're worth without shaking things up a bit. Hopefully I'm proven wrong and this game is genuinely worth the hype it's getting from all of these early advertisements and the press. But somehow I think it'll be just another call of duty game.

The series needs a break. I kind of like how games like Halo, Gears, Uncharted and KZ only come around once every 2-4 years.

To the people that are criticizing the graphics (which looks pretty hot even from that short teaser), keep in mind that this shit will run at a silky smooth 60fps at all times. Call me when your other high profile FPS/TPS games can claim that. 60fps makes all the difference IMO.

Exactly, were people really bagging on the grahpics of COD 4 at launch? Really? Modern Warfare 2 is going to be all sorts of dominance, too much negativity on GAF.

Like some have mentioned already, the Game Informer rep. on Bonus Round seemed very pleased. If he's right in that IW went "100 extra miles" on COD6, hopefully everything wrong with COD4 will be fixed.

Oh swell, they managed to impress a GI rep, it surely must be awesome then.

I wonder if there will be gore this time around. Seriously that is one of my pet hates in a fps games. especially war games. really destroys the immersion.

Pasta sauce didn't really do that much in WAW, IMO. It just looked goofy, and took away from the immersion.

They always say that the more realistic you try to make a game, the easier it is for even the smallest inaccuracy ruin the illusion. I'd rather just have the game be a better experience overall -- gore lends nothing to that goal.

If WaW had it MW2 will most likely have it.

This. I would love to see arms/legs flying off when a guy gets hit with a grenade or something. Guys crawling to safety if shot in the leg, praying if you shoot them and they don't die right away..things like that. Think saving private ryan, in 60fps of course. :D

I never really got into COD4. Maybe MW2 will get me hooked. This trailer looks promising though. Plus this game has plenty of time to improve before it comes out.

Looks pretty decent. I don't think it shows enough to judge the snow environments, or any changes to the graphics engine, properly.

I'm hoping for proper AI and no more infinitely spawning troops. If those things are fixed, it'll be all good!

Really? The build up of intensity when you first land on the boat/city? The "Oh shit!" moments from the opening cutscene to the end of the city level? The excellent pacing of the entire (yet short) title (see: gunship sequence)?

None of that was "redeeming" at all?

Who pissed in your cheerios? Modern Warfare was a great title. I wouldn't call it the best of the generation, but it's definitely up there.

I'm completely fine with people disliking CoD4, to each his own :)

But to say that CoD4's graphics engine was crap is a farcical lie.

No, it's not Crysis, it's not Killzone. But the fact that Infinity Ward was able to deliver a 60 frames-per-second experience in both single player and multiplayer with visuals like that back in 2007 earns them the benefit of the doubt, in my humble opinion.

This game will be a MONSTER regardless of criticisms imo. MW2 will also sell double ten shit-tons.

So Infinity Ward, I'm willing to have a crow diet if you make the single player more replayable. Other than that the presentation is fucking amazing.

What? you need to get your eyes checked.

FPSs that COD4 looks better than:
Halo3
Fear2
BadCompany
Resistance 2
Left4Dead ( yes, other than the character models, this game is pretty ugly)

Bad Company overall looks are way better imo.

Better at-
bigger maps
vehicles
models
destruction
higher resolution
foliage that actually moves
smoke

MW2 is going to have to at least match Bad Company in vehicles and destruction for me to get hyped.

I predict navy seals and some faction from canada to be the main focus of the game.
I hope they include the mp7, fn fal, an94, dsr-1, and mk.17. I also want the eotech sight for the m4 or hk416 in the multiplayer.

I see a glock in the snowmobile scene.

What would be awesome for the multiplayer is if they introduce a new gun economy system for the multiplayer. I want it to be something like in Operation 7 where you can buy with in game currency, separate parts of a gun so you can customize your m4 the way you want it.

you got no clue what Modern Warfare is about online, its all about fast paced on foot action (varies depending on mode obviously) also where do you supose IW will fit them in these on the small to medium size maps?

at least... leave Vehicles in MP for games such as ARMA II, OPFP II & BF series thank you very much

:lol

I'll defend the vehicles in Halo to the grave; you guys have balanced that shit out and made driving them a blast. But I've played to many FPS games with crap vehicles and even lousier balancing. The guys at IW know how to make on foot combat feel like sex and in no way do I want them to muddy that up with vehicles.

Look what happened when they added helicopters :p

It looks like we might get some more gunship action.

One can only hope to some more hot C-130 action. That was brutal, gritty, and it was SO immersive. That was one of the very very few SP highlights, along with the sniper mission. But i'll be damned if it wasn't epic.

:lol @ people judging the game's technical side using a really, really short teaser trailer.

I'm happy if it looks like CoD4. I'm more interested in the 60fps and the awesome scripted scenes thank you very much. Really liked that aspect of CoD4. It was intense as hell and really awesome if you just played along.

Bad Company also had one of the worst damage models/hit detection systems I've ever seen. FFS, it took 25 (out of your 50 round AR clip) to kill a guy. Forget that.

I really don't get what is so epic about being a gunner miles up in the sky shooting up infantry soldiers on the ground. The voice work was nauseating.

I'll admit I was underwhelmed by the footage shown. But I am not foolish enough to pass judgment on the game's graphics based on it. At worst it will look like CoD4...which certainly isn't a bad thing.

It's mind blowing that people can hate on COD4 for issues other than the AI, monster closets and grenade spam. I'm still WTF'ing now.

These are the biggest issues for me, the game looks pretty good but please IW fix the non-existant crappy AI and respawning enemies...gameplay in the SP at the higher difficulties is really bad IMO.

I have finished every COD game yet I have only ever played each one once or twice. I think of them the same as Gears/MGS/Uncharted: absolutely amazing single player experiences but I don't want to taint that memory by playing them again. COD4 was absolutely amazing the first time I played it and it took about year for a single player game to come along that provided more fun/excitement/enjoyment (Gears 2).

So I know for a fact the same thing will happen again this November: I will buy it Day One (probably pay more to get it a few days early), finish it in a weekend and enjoy every damn second...then I'll never play it again. And I'm ok with this scenario :D FWIW and I know it's incredibly early footage, I think it looks very good.

The "filter" of it, sound, just made you kinda believe you were there. I saw lots of that flir-type footage before. It just created a believable environment. And, what's wrong with raining death from above like that? The enemy, at night, not knowing when/where to expect tons of lead being thrown at them. Awesome stuff.

But yeah, the voice work was horrid.

Personally, I'd rather they put me in the pilot's seat of an A-10 making a strafing run on them with the main gun and bombs, though :p

Death From Above and All Ghillied Up were both great missions. Some of the best in any FPS of recent memory. I don't get how anyone can complain about the gunship level. The voice work was well done imo. Hopefully MW2 can have a few missions that come close to those.

They really need to get rid of the constantly respawning enemies though.

That segment was really awesome in CoD4 but I sorta laughed when they showed that there'd be something similar in CoD6. It was awesome because of how unexpected it was and how eerie the "combat" felt. I can't imagine how they could impliment it again without the majority of players saying "oh, this thing again" or "oh yeah I remember this from the last one". I'm hoping that IW tries to surprise gamers with something new again. If they want to do that death from above thing, have your plan get attacked all the sudden, crash, and transition into an awesome night level.

The snow reminded me: before I start forgetting, I saw a dream a couple of days ago that the game takes place in Alaska, somewhere in Canada, Rio De Janeiro, Australia, somewhere in the US and South Africa.

I played one map (in my dreams ofcourse) that resembled streets of Toronto (particularly Yonge street: Foggy, snowy and destroyed due to battle).

You know it's messed up when you see dreams about games not yet released :/

I have no doubt the MP will be great, but that does not really tell me anything about the SP, which is more important to me. Unless they get rid of the clown closets, blatant trigger points, and grenade spam, not interested.

The graphics look fine. Not great, but okay.
