maybe they saw Digital Foundry video and they removed the trees based on what the track look like in real life ?

Well if the game was not so buggy and unoptimized than there would be more players on the pc side.

Nah man, there are parts of the track literally missing entirely after patch 3. And some of the objects are placed differently and miss detail that was there before (which indicates that its a older build of the track).

okay that is ugly lol

its sad when GT7 on PS5 is miles better looking than this. I am actually playing GT7 mainly now and i dropped this turd.
PD are superb when it comes to technical graphics.

You'd have thought MS would have learned their lesson pushing half finished shitty products out of the door with Redfall, but nope 6 months later they do the same again.

This one stings the most because I stupidly believed the bullshit lap of Maple Valley they showed and was really looking forward to it.

This is why the brand is in the shitter, no other reason at all. First party games should be polished within an inch of their lives, not barely functional.

T10 is taking the 343i approach to this game it seems like. Launched a shell of a game and then neglecting it for the first year. Gotta love it.

Lets hope first that they stop fucking up the environments more and more after every patch on pc. This shit is getting out of hand, i really don't understand whats happening with T10. Those Mfs made top notch games in 2 years that where rock solid and filled with content. Now they get 3x more time, alot more budget and a far stronger base spec to work with and somehow they fucked it up big time.

Just look at this shit, looks like they accidentally replaced the final version of the track with a early version. And it keeps getting worse and worse every update.

if i had to guess, something similar to starfield, basically MS and turn10 have become too big for their own good and its developed into this industrial shop kind of situation where it's a revolving door of developers and people working their jobs and just showing up every day to get paid and keep the machine going. People hire their sons / daughters and their friends instead of the best job applicants etc.

Turn10 are a relatively small compared to the big boys. I think they number around 200 dev's.

Ah yes, we can finally bask in the glory of the Series X.

Xbox version is in a lot better shape than the PC version. Whats your point?

Ah wait you don't have one, drivel as per.

Edit: Just woke up, might be a bit grumpy this AM.

Poor attempt at a reply, because I was joking and I actually played all Forza games on Xbox consoles, including this one. :)

Edit:
"On Tuesday we'll share details about the fixes contained in Update 4. This version is focused on new content and events, and contains only minor fixes for car and track content compared to our previous updates. Work on game fixes to address top community issues is ongoing – look out for additional improvements in Update 5 and beyond."

LOL see you in update 5 then I guess.

They should be embarrassed about thus release. I loved the online racing that I've played but it puts me off playing knowing the rest of the game was so half baked.

What a waste.

Not gonna bother playing this month. The game already has too many US tracks. So far they haven't been doing much in these updates content-wise besides bringing back known tracks and adding only time-limited events.

Seriously, how do you make money in this game? After 30 hours I'm pretty much done with the career and only have the new races added with the update to go, but I don't have any money to buy the cars needed. Do I grind career races I've already finished? They barely give any money for the time investment. Do I grind rivals? Doesn't seem much better from what I've seen. I have no idea what there is to do or how one can afford to buy the hundreds of cool cars in the game I'd like. In Forza 7 I'd own half the roster by now.

Hi everyone,

In January we shared with you all a status update on 3 key areas of feedback from the Forza Motorsport community that our team is working to improve – Car Progression, Forza Race Regulations and Drivatar AI.

For Car Progression, today we began collecting feedback from various sources on changes that will give players freedom to equip the parts they need regardless of car level. We have additional changes to the system in various states of design and testing with plans to implement these changes as soon as possible. For Forza Race Regulations, we have enabled Race Marshals and some content creators the ability to flag in-game incidents for review to help feed changes to the adjudication model that will improve the system. Lastly, we’re testing out fixes to the Drivatar AI to alleviate competitors bunching up around Turn 1 and causing the first few AI opponents to reach insurmountable leads. Beyond those key changes, we’re investigating other priority fixes for the AI that improve their overall driving behavior and reduce how aggressively they stick to the racing line. These are just a few examples of where we are prioritizing work in these areas, and we will be sharing more on each soon.

While we have 3 distinct teams here at Turn 10 working on these key improvements, we’re also actively developing fixes and improvements to other areas of the game. These will begin rolling out alongside Update 5 in February and will include a Skip Practice option to the Career mode pre-race menu to make it more discoverable, and a save point after finishing a Practice session so you can complete the Featured Race later. We’re also developing fixes and quality-of-life improvements to the Livery Editor based on the reports you’ve shared with us, including custom advanced zoom for applying decals, the ability to paint upgraded brake calipers, and a prompt to save your design when exiting the Livery Editor.

While this update is in active development, we wanted to share an earlier-than-usual look at some of the changes we’re targeting for this release.

Before we jump into the list of fixes, a note about the next Forza Monthly on Friday, January 26: while Forza Motorsport will have only a short segment due to the recent release of Update 4, we will use the opportunity to reveal the track coming in Update 5. Then in February’s livestream, we will show a more in-depth look at the track, alongside the accompanying career tour, cars and multiplayer events.

Here are the fixes we are targeting for Update 5 scheduled for release in February. Fixes are for all platforms unless otherwise specified. The bug number at the end of each bullet can be used to locate the issue in the Troubleshooting Hub.

My thoughts: Still no RTGI for PC which is a bummer, but I like the sound of CPU and GPU optimisations. Oh and also FINALLY!

Will im not happy about the state of the game, i have to give it to them with those updates. They are releasing them faster than i thought and the Ring in feb is gonna pull me back to this game. There is nothing i love more than lapping on the ring with different cars and weather combo.

Finally being able to skip practice from the start.

Also wasn't expecting the Nurburgring until March or April, so that's great.

Nice to see fixes but I still don't think I can return to the game unless the 60 FPS multiplayer cap is removed.

This P1 rivals has got to be the worst handling car I've ever played in a racing game. It literally won't go around corners at 70mph.

This is a fucking McLaren P1 (GTR!!!!) One of the best handling cars in the world. How can they have fucked this up so bad. The more I play the more I'm realising after than initial honeymoon period that the handling is absolutely shockingly fucking garbage.

They should also fix the payouts with this change, because people are not going to be earning a lot without the practice sessions credits. I dunno, maybe allow to set the number of laps in the career mode? Some races are too short, especially if you start from the back and AI has got slightly faster cars on the straights.

Whatever track it is that the Rival event is on.

Edit: I believe it's Grand Oak.

I would also assume that it wouldn't really matter what track as the handling of that car is so abysmal compared to real life. I've only tried it on the Rivals event though.

There's a couple of serious tight bends on that course. You'll see in real life GTR's slow down to 60-70mph around tight bends. We don't realise how fast we are going around corners in gaming sometimes. You got any TC or stability on ? That can have a effect positive and negative depending on your skill.

I don't have any assists on. I'm just over 1 second of the fastest time in the world on the leaderboards so I'm by no means a slow driver. Go watch some POV videos of the GTR, read some reviews and first hand reports of people driving this car. It's a serious machine that's has infinite amounts of front end grip. It doesn't understeer at 70mph like it does in this game 🤣🤣

I think what they have done is forget to put it on slick tyres and it's running on the stock street tyres or something. This car only comes with slicks.

Fair play to you, I had to stick stability and TC on and handles a lot better for my level. Surely they have a bit on electronic help in RL ?

Says it understeers in this review. So much power 986 bhp, doesn't surprise me. Got to learn to tame the beast.

Been having fun with this game, but I would not say it is a great game. I find it good, but not great.

I really wish they would make race day feel more exciting. It just feels so sterile and empty. Where is the excitement? I want to hear excited track announcers. I want an engaged pit team, excited about the race. Because in a series we are racing against the same racers, reference the previous race about how so and so did an overtake last time, and the other driver will be looking out for it. Make it feel real with some emotion.

Speaking of "racers", this is something that has been bothering me every since "drivatars" have been a thing: when I am doing single player racing, I do not want to see gamertags, I want to see names. I don't want to be reminded I am playing a game. I want to escape into fantasy that I am a race car driver who has real competitors.

As many has said, once racing the game is fun. Sure some improvements can be made, but overall the racing is fun. It is the package around the racing that needs improvement. I almost do not mind the car leveling, even though it makes no sense. I just want more atmosphere.

Oh my god, there's a skip practice button. Must be Christmas.
This game wasn't even half baked, a delay of a year then we might have got a complete game. Not rocket science to see why the xbox brand is in the shitter.

Still no RTGI though
They need to get the rest of the game running half decent first.

Performance (pre patch, not checked yet) ranged from barely acceptable to fucking awful. I can be running at 40% GPU 20% CPU at max settings and still have a widely fluctuating FPS in multiplayer. The game doesn't even look that great most of the time.

The penalty system, safety rankings and match making are completely broken.

These are the things that should be at the top of their list, not "new" tracks or features that should have been in day one.

Not tried out update 5, will later tonight but I'm not holding my breath.

Fuck sake performance is somehow actually worse now post patch. Game is uninstalled.

Got in about a dozen laps of Nordschleife. Don't really care if it's not 100% accurate. Looks absolutely beautiful, especially early morning or late afternoon.

This game just makes me disappointed as a long time Forza fan. How they managed to drop the ball as hard as they did is baffling to me. I genuinely hope that FM23 has a massive redemption arc ala Cyberpunk or No Man’s Sky, but until that day possibly comes, I’ll be sticking to the older FM games and GT for my Simcade, Horizon for my arcade racing, and ACC for my actual hardcore Motorsport experience.

FM23 succeeds at very little right now.

No wonder the game is such a shitshow, keep hiring new people and by the time they learn the job fire them to get more new guys. Jesus, what could possibly go wrong.

This is such Business 101 that I'm shocked Xbox is doing it. I guess as long as the stock price is doing well they don't give a shit, but churning out mediocre after mediocre game has really reduced the Xbox brand.

Yup, the actual driving on a pad is pretty good, everything else not so much. My biggest gaming disappointment in quite a while.

Some behind the scenes of development from a former Turn 10 employee.

Microsoft are dumb fucks. Games like Forza can hugely benefit from having permanent employees who know the engine, all the systems and have experience delivering what the players expect. You hire someone new and they're gonna waste at least a few months learning the basics... only to be shitcanned when they're finally comfortable with everything.

FM8 definitely feels like a game without a soul and that's not how you're going to keep long-time fans. They can abandon the series instead, especially seeing how GT7 fixed a lot of issues people had with GTS and it's generally a more interesting proposition.
