"Please keep in mind that's a pre-alpha build, the beta is not a marketing demo. The Beta's purpose is to test the MP and gather feedback. The beta will likely be rough around the edges mechanically & graphically. It is not a finished product, the games full release is 6 months away.

No you don't have to play it recently, playing it once is enough to count.
They are sending out codes in waves over a period of days, starting today. Considering release was August you might get your code today or you might get it tomorrow/wednesday.

Considering they don't even start rolling out for nearly 4 hours, I'd be shocked if you DID get one.7am and still no code.
Horrible. You should have to be in cover to be grabbed. What if I'm aimed in another direction but just happen to be near cover kind of? They're awarded an insta-kill by pulling me over? lol

You probably shouldn't expect that to happen. There are no guarantees for when you get a code. Sure, they have said that they are going to send out the first wave to people who played it at launch, but who knows what could happen.

Agreed. I get why they stagger the release of the codes because maybe they don't want the serves getting hit so bad, but they could have mitigated against this by allowing owners of Gears UE to download the beta over the weekend.
Looking forward to this true, proper beta.

Things like this make me wonder about another beta. It's a minor thing, I guess they just haven't got round to sticking it in yet but I can see them going again later in the year.

It's been almost 5 years since Gears of War 3. People are ready for another proper Gears title.
If it was for that reason it would be all JDs Vs swarm drones. It's suspect is all, hopefully it's just a prebeta thing that the streams couldn't show

The models for the different characters are already done. Randomly choosing the character is as easy to implement as setting it to one particular character. Sure, they probably could have put in a simple character change option, but I guess they didn't care much about that. If you go into this beta and get angry for not being able to choose your character, you have completely missed the point of having this beta.
To be fair the 2nd guy was being a scrub by not finishing him off during the animation.
Butbyes you should requirethe enemy to be in cover in order to attack like that but overall I like this mechanic because it'll avoid fights where two people at eon the opposite side of the cover and just keep taking shots hoping to hit. Since people will avoid being in the same cover now.

It does feel like the exact perfect time for another Gears, the timing is just right.
I'm very excited for this beta, c'mon key!
Did you have to play the multiplayer or just the single player on UE, I only played a bit of the SP a few weeks ago before the deadline (bought it for $8 on Amazon digital).
