Fuck...even for a non-believer like me... this is insane.

It's worth it for Assetto Corsa in the meantime, assuming you have a PS Pro and can activate boost mode for 60fps loveliness.

I already have ac on xb1 and my tx gets a good workout. This is basically me waiting to see if gts is going to deliver before making a investment.

2017 and people still don't understand the concept of Gran Turismo replay v. gameplay.

We know it's replay... still impressive don't you think?

Gameplay IQ is pretty bad imo... and the whole game is not that impressive in gameplay.

Still... this GIF is superb imo.

I do agree... Replay remains replay, but still enough impressive to be said...

I agree, while those small gifs do look very good, I haven't been impressed by the beta
It all looks very "flat" to me

It has been impressive since GT3. "Does GT look good in replays?" is not really the question I have about a new game. I am not looking at the dust, I am looking at the tires and suspension and in those regards, nah it doesn't look great, it looks down right last gen. The aero modeling is still bad and look how floaty and off the car looks on the Ring gifs earlier. Cars still float and have bizzaro gravity. But yeah, game looks great when you aren't actually playing it or looking for physics realism. But that is GT. It is much more popular in screenshot comparison threads than in people talking about playing the game threads.

I don't know about floaty, some cars do, the group 4 corvette feels floaty to me and the Focus ST but others feel pretty nailed down, the GTR GT3 around the Nordschleife surprised me with the movement and how much the bumps affected the car.

GT is always going to be more simcade due to the larger userbase and the need for it to work really well with a controller and I think it straddles the divide really well so far.

I haven't been working with camber much so far but ride heights seem to be working ok for me, lifting the rear is giving me better turn in, so not sure what is up there.

Those issues were in GT6. Some cars still have ride height issue in GTS. Mostly VGT cars. Brake bias tuning is also off in GTS.

Edit: Gear ratios are also wrong again. They were wrong in GT5, they fixed them, and now they are back to broken. Don't remember their status in GT6.

Ah ok, was confused as I had read those issues had been fixed in GTS so good to know you were talking about GT6.

not tried the Peugeot or VW yet. Ah so the front rear bias isn't working right now? Haven't been adjusting that either yet. Toe seems to be where I am making big gains with the cars so far :)

It varies car to car right now. Some cars feel like they are in incomplete states in terms of FFB variation and tuning issues/bugs. With the limited car count in GTS, it is rather concerning if this game is anywhere near launch. I expected much more detail in terms of car dynamics between these cars since we are getting much less than a typical GT. I really hope this is technical test and not a legit beta.

I dunno, in all honesty I am pretty happy with it all, it does feel like GT to me and the changes I have made to cars have worked as I expected. I guess for issues with specific cars we can put bugs in which is good.

I haven't been on that as much as I don't want to feel like I am at work when I am at home playing a game though I have put a few in.

I didn't play 6 mate, what was/is the gear ratio issue?

Have you even played the game?? There's reflections just like Driveclub. One thing I'm glad they added to the cockpit.

Not talking about reflections. Talking about "smears" in the windshield. Like the ones on the left side of the screen here: (shitty capture from YT video)

2017 and people still don't understand the concept of Gran Turismo replay v. gameplay.

Why do you care so much? Some people like the art of racing and taking vids of cars more than the ultra realism comparisons and such. Heck, it's almost like Polyphony understands this and has added a whole separate photography feature! Crazy!!

I agree in the bumps on the Nordschleife, they are fantastic. There are some parts however that I feel can't be true to live, the corner after the Mutkurve bumps you so hard that you get lift-off and have to slide laterally a bit if you want to take it with maximum speed. They would correct that if it were really like that in real life. Of course the Nordschleife gets repaired a lot and is a little different every year, but that seems off.
I can already hear the people yelling at me "but it's laserscanned", "most realistic version"

Stiffer race car setups really seem better simulated. Usually physics engines struggle with race car springs and dampers, the change-rate of the damper velocity is too high even if a sim runs its physic engine at over 700fps, that's why most sims have this "slow bump"/"fast bump"/"ms-threshold" thing... I don't know how they adressed this in GTS, but it feels a lot better than in previous GT games. However, I think the tire model is not fit to cope with this (I guess it's too stiff and doesn't simulate transitions/deformations smoothly, big guessing on my part here, I know, but grip feels too on/off from bumps and low to high slip ratios /wheelspin).
I'd love to have a MoTec Pro telemetry deep dive into GTS and see all the data there is, not only a select few channels.

The speeds listed on the gears are way off. It will say 181 mph and it tops out at 160mph. This happened before and the eventually fixed it. Just annoying more than anything.
You also can't always access the same gear ratios, that the standard setup has. If you want to change just one or two gears, bad luck, have to change everything and the final ratio and even then it doesn't work it.

Relax Gutterboy. I was just enjoying an impressive GIF. ;-p

First time I get flamed for praising GT. Usually I get flamed because I'm a PD hater (for so many good reasons btw...)

;-)

60% of my time with GT is spent in the garage and watching replays.

I do appreciate the more car enthusiast views though in this thread. Its up to PD to get the right balance. I would say they are focusing a bit too much on the hardcore atm..They need to flesh out the campaign mode a bit with some more races, and it still isn't clear how exactly you earn cars, but a sense of progression I think needs to be in place for more casual players. You don't need 500 cars right away, 150-200 is perfectly fine to do a meaty SP campaign with. I hope they added something like that back in with the delay personally.

It wasn't you, it has happened with every replay gif or screen since the beta started.

Don't worry, those features get way more attention and resources than the driving engine. You're in luck. I don't care how people enjoy a GT, but there have been about a half dozen people in this thread who have literally told me to stop complaining about the wide array of issues, bugs, glitches, and short comings apparent in GTS because car porn isn't really good enough for a new GT game focused on online competitive racing. It is PS4 ffs, it better look more impressive than PS3. That is the bare minimum a new GT can achieve, look pretty.

And if you pay attention to my post history, I think PD should lean waaaaaaaaay more on the whole, car and driving, "experience" instead of competitive racing. Make it more about car ownership and showing it off and driving on crazy pretty coastal roads. Drive from one track to another along approximations of real life roads. That is what PD would do 1,000 better than trying to become console iRacing. They don't even have historical split times in the game yet. It is insane. When you change your setup, you lose your split times. The most rudimentary systems are still not present. Betas are typically "feature complete"

But.... the game in beta right now is GT Sport, not GT Car Porn, so the things that are not great right now that are a hindrance to that whole, Sport aspect, get my attention. This is also a beta, where the idea is to poke and prod every system and submit feedback. Which I do after nearly every play session.

Direct screens vs sat in front of my tv playing the game...
Nah, I gotta say. There are definitely visible jaggies in the environments that even I noticed while playing the game. And I typically am pretty unaware of them, especially in racing games. This is not a perfect/clean IQ by any means. I wouldn't call it bad. But I wouldn't call it good/great either.

Gutterboy-> I see what you mean.

I remember GT5 and GT6's Gifs... they were fantastic. Sometimes already, we couldn't say if it was real or not.

But then you put the game on...and the IQ was so terrible... absolutely disastrous (so was the framerate).

I think the same is happening with GTS. The IQ in gameplay is still pretty meh (obviously much better than GT5/6) and the graphics look more "good" than "stellar".

It really looks to me as a GT6 + : just more polygons and better textures... which is the absolute minimum between two generations imo. Still the same problems: bland tracks, inconsistancy, aliasing.

And still the same qualities: models, stellar lighting (huge pro) , replays...

Except we miss the dynamic TOD and weather this time.

So, not really impressed by GTS' graphics engine to say the least.

Well no one said it was perfect of course...but to not even call it good? Nah, sorry...
