and we'll have full support for all North American and European IPs for the online portion of the game, too! ;)

Will it support Asian IPs as well?

Entrydenied: That's up to Vanillaware. Since the Japanese game supports only Japanese IPs, I'd expect the North American version to support only North American IPs and the European version to support only European IPs. But we'll certainly see what we can do.

Right now, we know almost nothing about how the final servers will be set up, so I'm afraid I really can't answer any questions about that. Once we're a bit more finalized, we'll probably send out another announcement blast -- and I'll post about it on here too, of course.

Didn't expect this.

Somehow this little system keeps on staying alive, a dim flickering light in a cruel, cruel world.

This winter? They work fast. Thanks, XSEED!

Day 1 for me because some of the impressions I read and heard were pretty positive. Also art in Vanillaware games always makes me smile.

I like that it's still being supported somewhat. I really like my PSP (in addition to my DS; imo, they complement each other very nicely).

As much as I love having hard-copy UMDs, I'd like for some PSP games to be localized and put on PSN as digital downloads to be played on the Vita. Some of the games that have not been localized (yet?) are pretty good, imo (Last Ranker, some of the Tales games, Genso Suikoden I&II (but this is a collection of past titles), the remaining Legend of Heroes PSP games, etc).

There are a lot of good PSP RPGs being left behind (check out this handy thread).

Grand Knights History was in my personal top 3, I still can't believe it's actually coming.

My other picks were Valkyria 3 and the Over My Dead Body remake (and the freaking FIVE remaining Kiseki games of course).

Also Atlus better announce Persona 2 Eternal Punishment PSP any day now, my guess is either that or a Kiseki game will be PSP's last notable Amurrican release.

How is this game as a SP experience?

There's a single player but multiplayer is the main focus. From the couple hours I've played, it seems like a grind for exp. loot, and trying to make the perfect party to send out to War mode. Also, there's apparently some great skills that can only be obtained through the War mode so yeah.

Of course, this is my limited experience with the SP. Knighted one party and got a second party to level 10.

One of my friends imported Over My Dead Body (the PS1 version) and thought it was pretty fun. I have to wonder if he's going to import the PSP version... the artstyle of the remake looks really nice.

A few of the games listed in that thread are actually on my import list (Venus & Braves, Blue Roses, Last Promise Story, Yuusha 30 Second). Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded and Brandish PSP are definitely on my import list as well. Problem is, I don't always have the cash to import everything I want, so sometimes I have to wait until another period in the year to do so.

I'm quite tempted to import the other Kiseki games because I'm starting to think they're not going to come here, or they may not come in a timely manner.

I'm hoping that SEGA left the vanilla VC3 behind in Japan so they could localize the EXTRA Edition (the budget version which comes with extra stuff).

So as crazy as Pokemon can get?

Good comparison  But really, the first party you create is going to be throwaway. Do not get attached. And all you'll really need to do offline is clear the story mode once to unlock everything, and that's that.

But yeah, what it'll come down to will be what kind of builds you'll be making. He who controls the AC online will be the winner.

Heh that might be a problem for me, since I usually get attached to some of the first characters I create/come across. Is there a limit to how many parties you can make?

I think it's safe to assume Atlus JP aren't willing to let Growlanser go to anyone outside of Atlus USA, but that leads me to wonder if anyone's even bothered to ask them.

Very good .i will probably get the Digital version ( preparing for my VITA library ) UNLESS ....
they make a great physical ( LIMITED EDITION ) package

Yay! Great news. I'm not certain how interested I am in the way this game has shaped up, but this is definitely the sort of thing I might well pick up just to keep things rolling in the JP localization scene.

XSEED still seems committed to releasing more games in the series though, at least for now.

Based on... what? The last we heard about Trails 2 was quite a while ago, and they went from eagerly discussing their progress on the game to complete, deafening silence.

Growlanser is, like, literally a < 2000 unit sales series. There's a reason that it's basically the only Atlus Japan title that Atlus USA doesn't localize, unfortunately.

Clearly, you haven't been reading the right threads on the right message boards. :)

We haven't announced anything officially because... well, there's nothing to announce! The game is like, a year or two out AT LEAST, so announcing anything now would be kind of pointless. Especially since, with the release THAT FAR AWAY, the constantly changing climate of the gaming industry, the impending decline of PSP game sales and the whole "can't put the game on PSN" thing, the future of Trails 2 is a total question mark right now (release on UMD? find a solution to the PSN issue somehow? release on Vita somehow? release on Steam?).

We still have every intention of seeing the project through to its completion, but will we still be ABLE to release it by the time it's done? That's what we don't know. All we can do is keep chipping away at it and hope for the best -- and if it turns out we can't do it, no one will be sadder than us. But it definitely won't be for lack of trying!

Does that mean you guys are actually working on it right now?

Good god. A localization effort taking that much time is some Working Designs ish.

Well, hopefully with both Atlus USA and NISA starting to publish on PC (albeit somewhat tentatively), XSEED can too. As much as I would like to see Trails SC on the PSP, realistically the PC is a much better home.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but Marvelous also own Half Minute Hero 2, right?

I'd sacrifice GKH for that in a heartbeat.

I wish this made me hopeful, but instead it just makes me more depressed. Looks like I will be learning enough Japanese to get through SC before you guys release it after all.

Me too. Too bad Half-Minute Hero was one of XSEED's worst-selling titles ever.

A year or two out? That's kind of obscene, honestly. I know the game has a lot of text, but there's no way something like that can be profitable at that point. And you'll have lost a lot of the interest generated by those who did play FC.

Also, SE is getting Type-0 out on PSN, so maybe you guys should ask Sony about how they're accomplishing that and follow suit.

A PSN release might be profitable for a niche indie release like Corpse Party, but for something as epic as Trails SC? Sounds like financial suicide.

I want to see it come out here, but I sure don't want XSeed going out like Working Designs did just to bring us Growlanser 2 & 3.
