Guy asks for a new Road Rash on Reddit, Dan Geisler responds that he wants to do it

Someone started a petition to get a new Road Rash made, or to hand the rights over to someone (ie. Dan Geisler) to get it done. Yep, pretty pointless undertaking, but I've taken it upon myself to provide an update every time Dan farts.

I think this petition for the release of the Road Rash franchise to me is awesome! Sign it! P.S. Gunna make it anyway ;)

The petition will do nothing, but signing it and upvoting his reddit submission will at least show Dan that there is support for his remake.

So, Dan is steaming ahead with this and now has some friendly competition in the form of Road Redemption. Dan got involved in their reddit discussion where we learned that the kickstarter campaign for "Dan's Road Rash" is also imminent.

Dan on Road Redemption:

For clarity, Road Redemption is not my project. But, their team and mine have formed a mutual admiration society.

Dan on his own un/official Road Rash project:

A lot of the original Road Rash team are on board for this new game.
...and more keep coming.
Things started getting interesting from April 19, with tweets about video shoots, bike ogling and some concept art (which I think is just something they were sent).
Shooting some video today. Game On!

You can stay, but lose the gun.

(A friendly dig at the guns in Road Redemption, perhaps.)

Not enough people following him... https://twitter.com/DanGeislerSr

And keep an eye on his site http://5xllc.com/ (build in progress, currently shows domain parked message)

If (when) he announces the Kickstarter for an actual Road Rash, I'll be there. I have played just about every version of that game and have enjoyed every minute of it. My favorite being 3DO Road Rash. If they can capture that magic again (even with the cheesy FMV), I'm there day one.

It would be kick ass if EA would license the Road Rash name out to Dan's team. This is the one I want to see get supported as it has the original team members from Road Rash and I'm more confident in these guys making a game I'd like to play.

dosnt hurt to have guns if they are balanced correctly

How do you balance shooting someone in the back with an ammo clip?

Mario Kart is better balanced because you need to actually hit an item block to gain certain attacks. With a gun, you can pull it out and shoot it anytime you want...

If this were to be made I would want it to adhere to the genesis level of graphics fidelity ala shovel knight to the NES. Obviously they can take a few liberties with the graphics (like with the backgrounds or objects on the screen) but they have to adhere to fundamental limitations of the genesis(color palette, sound, anything else). I would totally back it if it was like that. I don't want to see HD sprites or 3d graphics.

(It's the second track. Click >> in the player to hear the sample. Yep, that's a Road Rash theme.)

I have a feeling it's going to be a modern 3D title (which I'm cool with), but Dan did say on Reddit that there would be a 16bit mode ^_^

So we're gonna need a new thread when the Kickstarter comes. I doubt I will have thread starting rights by then, but I will start throwing together some content for the OP if someone wants to use it.

Boo to the licensed music. Get the feeling this is going to be more like the 3DO version, which will make a lot of people happy. I won't be one of them.

I know where you're coming from. Apart from my irrational love for the N64 version, I'm not really interested in any of the others outside the original trilogy.

I just hope the wheels are still turning. There has been a fair bit of radio silence after the initial hype; although Dan seems to have lined up an interview with @racketboypodcst in the last couple of days.

Probably wasn't a great to move to announce the website URL back in May, then leave it showing a godaddy site template... http://hardridergame.com/

I've only played Road Rash 64, and it was a ball. The levels were virtually GTA size, you could drive anywhere - across the city, over land, etc. And of course the violence was histerical, with crazy crashes, Big Bananas, and random cows along the road.

This is the kind of feel I would love in a new Road Rash. An original pre-visualization. When I saw it years ago I actually thought it was a dev demo of the next RR and was really excited.
