Battle Creek is included...did you just say Snowbound?! o_O
Whoops I meant Sidewinder. Damn snow maps getting me confused. And I know Battle Creek is included, just a good map is all.

I'm really hoping for Prisoner. That map hasn't been remade at all as far as I know.
Prisoner without an M6D would be a shadow of its former self.

Of course, realistically, I can say that about any of these maps, except Beaver Creek, which I found more fun in H2 than H1 (removal of teleporter assassinations not withstanding).

I played lots of rocket games on Prisoner back in the day.

Any word on Coagulation?
They can adjust Hemorrhage into Coagulation if they actually forged it right. But with Hemorrhage on the game Frankie has mentioned it won't happen. I had some hope for Headlong, Zanzibar, and Beaver Creek for Halo 2 maps. Halo 1 set will obviously be Hang 'em High, unknown map (Timberland?) and Damnation.

Rockets on Prisoner was great. Also a fun gametype for Prisoner, if you were playing over LAN instead of XBC and could convince everyone to follow the rules: Shotguns, with the rule that you had to immediately jump down to the bottom upon spawning. So much hilarity.

It's Microsoft, so never.

Paying full price for half of a game is the law of the land.
Point me to where I can pick up brand new $360 titles for $40. There's a couple of recent releases I haven't gotten yet and it'd be great to only pay "full price" rather than $60.

I hope all 7 maps are Chiron TL-34.

I hope you're joking :p One of the worst Halo maps ever created.

Damnation (who is responsible for including this map? :p) and Wizard sucks too... and when considering big maps, Sidewinder not as fun as Coagulation.

Really annoys me that out of the remaining great maps (except the bottom three), only three more will be added. Why not include all?!

Prisoner - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P6paHvnGyw
Chill Out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu3m56vJ3gA

Blood Gulch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKlRWvdC-LA

I could manage without these three:

Sidewinder - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwya69bxqII
Chiron TL-34 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCmcEFCMuOQ

I'll be happy as long as they don't remake Boarding Action or Chiron. I don't hate them but they were always boring maps that I seldom enjoyed.

Presumably so they can charge money for more bullshit later, or just because they're super lazy now.

Izayoi has been a "vociferous disappointed potential customer" for the entire thread now. Non stop. For days. And he's insulted me personally several times. So I am ignoring him. Lots of people have made the same point, politely, and I've responded to them, honestly.

:p

Just kidding, I completely agree with you. CEA for $40 is a deal.

and Portal 2 is an exception to the rule. Valve can work magic now that retailers have to compete with Steam. Besides, Portal 2 only has single player and co-op, it doesn't come with ANY multiplayer maps. ;)

Amazon.co.uk lists Halo: CE:A for £45.62. That is about ~$75. Microsoft UK, you have to change the RRP.

Is there a price set for the UK yet? Could just be a placeholder price on Amazon...
I mean, ODST's RRP was £10 cheaper than Halo 3's/Reach's RRP, so I think it would be pretty odd if CEmake's RRP was £5 more than Halo 3's/Reach's and £15 more than ODST's.

Really hope so! Amazon.de is selling Halo: CE A for 39.99€. (Still Amazon.fr wants 69,99€ from you) I'm really hoping that the price for Halo: CE:A will be £29.99

I'd like to throw Blood Gultch/Coagulation into a black hole. Its like Big Game Hunters for First Person Shooters.

By the way, does anyone have a list of Halo 1 & 2 Map remakes in Halo 3, Halo 3 DLC, Reach & Reach DLC? I think across Halo 3 and now Reach most of my favourites have been remade.

I bought Portal 2 for $35 when they had that great deal two weeks after it came out. Fantastic deal, and a great game. Portal 2 also has the developer commentary throughout the entire game, that is a highly overlooked feature. A feature I could imagine a lot of Halo fans would go nuts for in this remake, developer commentary from the original crew that made the game. That feature adds to Portal 2's value.

I have no problem with this price, this is a good package for $40. I'm disappointed about the lack of original MP, but I'm not going to be ridiculous and say it is "overpriced", or "half of a game." They made the choice to focus on the campaign and extend the MP for Reach, it's understandable, and makes sense from a business and developer standpoint. I'm not going to buy the game, but that is only because it doesn't have the Classic MP, not because I think it is 343/MS ripping off customers, they aren't, this just isn't the remake for me.

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

Halo 2 & DLC
Blood Gulch -> Coagulation
Wizard -> Warlock
Longest -> Elongation
Hang 'em High -> Tombstone
Derelict -> Desolation
Battle Creek -> Beaver Creek
(Do Gemini and Foundation count? :p )

Halo 3 & DLC
Zanzibar -> Last Resort
Chill Out -> Cold Storage
Sidewinder -> Avalanche
Lockout -> Blackout
Midship -> Heretic

Halo Reach & DLC
Sanctuary -> Asylum
Ascension -> Pinnacle
Blood Gulch -> Hemorrhage
Ivory Tower -> Reflection
(Plus all of the Forge remakes in Team Classic)

Anniversary Classic Maps (somewhat confirmed so far):
Damnation
Beaver Creek
Hang 'em High
Timberland

Let me know if I missed anything.

sorry if this has been discussed many times before already, but let's say i were to buy this, would i also need to purchase reach (again, since i traded it in a few months back) in order to play multiplayer online?

As a german guy, who wants the game fast, I have to pre-order at amazon.co.uk. But if £34.99 is the correct price, Amazon UK will change the price very soon.

Halo: CE:A comes with 7maps for Reach. If you don't have Reach anymore, you can only play on these 7 maps.(One of them is a firefight one). If you buy Reach again, you'll get a token or something else to download the maps for Reach.

Seems a bit unfair really. US gets a 33% reduction in price compared to "regular" titles; UK gets 12.5% drop.
Like Garthvaderuk said: If £34.99 is the RRP, we will definitely get Halo: CE:A under £30 before the release.

Reach is the current main Halo community they are supporting, including offering DLC for it.. which is the direct financial incentive to getting more people into Reach, or back into Reach who abandoned it early on.

I'm a little confused as to how a handful of classic maps is going to get many players back. If you didn't like Reach, you didn't like Reach. What turned you off about it is still going to remain even if there's some new maps. A separate CEA community would increase the total number of players more, even if slightly splintered.

Some people here seem intent on imagining a "classic" mode for Reach that will come very close to CE, but 343 has been so cagey I kinda doubt it.

Having two games works for CoD because they realize that selling a brand new $60 game to 10 million people is better than selling a $10 map pack to half as many. I don't see the point in neutering the hell out of CEA so that you can have a slightly more focused audience for DLC.

And that's not to mention the other reason for making CEA a Reach add-on for multi-player, which is cost. Reach has all of the online multi-player bells and whistles built into it and then some.. and is connected to bungie.net/Halo Pro, etc. Halo CE's engine was built for LAN only.

I think this is the more plausible reason. They just don't want to spend the money on it. Which is a shame, since all the corners being cut makes it hardly worth the $40 asking price....yet a proper remake with online could have easily commanded $60.

Why should 343i give Halo: CE:A a MP mode? Tbh. Halo: Reach came out last year and Halo 4 is coming next year. In 2012 it would be 4 Halo-MP out there if Halo: CE:A had a MP mode. The Halo Fanbase would be splitted into four groups. The dudes that still play Halo 3, Halo: Reach or Halo: CE:A and the dudes, who will play Halo 4. And it is more than confirmed, that we will get some classic-like gameplay. 343i will be handling the playlist system of Reach. They will ship out the updates for the game etc. So they can change some gameplay stuff.

So late, nvm I didn't refresh.

EDIT: Booshka got the right idea, Valve's commentaries are awesome. I would love Halo 4 and future Halo titles to have something similar.

The main point of Halo CE:A is to celebrate the birth of the franchise, and I feel like the most beloved aspect of Halo CE was its campaign. I loved the multiplayer just as much as the next guy, but the majority of my most memorable moments with Halo CE pertained to the campaign.

Honestly I don't think there would be much of a point to releasing Halo CE:A with it's own multiplayer. Not only for the reasons stated above (splintering the community), but because each successive Halo game, for the most part, has seen an improvement on the multiplayer formula. Putting Halo CE multiplayer online would feel dated, and more than likely people would dump it to go back to Halo Reach/3 once the nostalgia wore off.

Sure I wouldn't be against it, I would have a ton of fun with classic Halo CE multiplayer, but is that how the majority of the community would feel? Not sure. I'd rather 343i focus on creating an awesomely polished Halo CE campaign experience. The updated maps will be a lot of fun thrown into the Reach multiplayer hopper and I feel like that was probably the best way to go with it.

Microsoft could have easily charged $60.00 for this, as they did with ODST, but at $40.00 I'm definitely not complaining.

But who cares, other that the people that jerk of to Major Nelson's Xbox Live Activity list? My argument is that there's simply more to be gained by selling a new, full-featured SKU to a greater number of people than there is to be gained by trying to force a dwindling number of players into the same playpen.

If someone has abandoned Reach I don't think they'll come back to it for CEA....even if they did they sure aren't going to still be playing a year from now when Halo 4 comes out.

They've been kinda non-committal and unwilling to go into specifics, so to me that doesn't really bode well for getting an accurate representation of classic Halo.

What I guess I'm failing to understand is when "splitting the fanbase" became such a terrifying concept, especially with a set of fans as rabid as Halo's. Can anyone explain this to me? When you've sold the game, you've done your job, no? It's not like games are generating advertising revenue based on nightly user counts. Are publishers treating these weekly user charts as Nielsen ratings of sorts that determine whether a series can keep traction?

As far as selling this title is concerned, Anniversary is an unlikely pick-up for me. My avoidance of this game is certainly not going to put Reach back in my 360 disc tray for a higher percentage of time either. Also, the frustration over lack of Anniversary multiplayer has me extremely wary of Halo 4: DPR decision-making and I have a hard time believing I'm the only one with this sentiment (though, admittedly, my view of the universe is Syracuse022-centric).

Seems like in service of "not fragmenting the fanbase" what they're actually doing is crystallizing the existing die-hards on one side of the fence or the other. I can't pretend to know how this release will do with casual gamers, but it would seem that the price point and limited multiplayer offering may end up selling zero games instead of two (Reach and Anniversary), which is what this strategy seems to suggest they're hoping for.

If they setup the playlists right, it means that people will be able to jump back and forth between Halo CE and Halo Reach without popping in a disc. Say you're playing Reach, but then you've got a friend who is playing Halo CE, it will be a lot quicker for you and your friend to get in some games together than if they gave CE it's own mode.
