im having a rough day guys... one of the worst I cn remember in the game.

then I just played this game as Malf, I was like "fuck it, ill do some healing"... I saw the light. I saw the green Malfurian light

I mean I knew he was obviously good, but I actually had a blast. No mana issues either which I could sware he had. That Twilight Dream ult is RIDICULOUS (I always used the healing one before as a noob)

They nullified the mana stuff by giving twilight passive mana regen. Removing it is a top 2 necesary malf nerf in my book

im so salty right now, just lost a Infernal Shrine where we had 42 kills vs like 20 in the end...

like, we werent actually doing anything. 10min in, it was like 15-2 in kills for us, and yet we had already lost both forts lol?

Did you ever try Wildstar? Looking back the way it worked reminds me a bit of how HOTS works with skillshots and so forth. It was a lot different from all the PVP I did in SWTOR at the time. Wish it hadn't failed. Hell, I wish a lot of these MMOs had done better. Also wish I had stuck with FFXIV after it's relaunch. I hit max level and just petered out.
I did, even have a shirt from their gamescom stall, but it's too much like WoW after MoP killed any desire I ever had of playing a game like WoW again.

May give destiny a go if others pick it up, but it was fucking boring. Not even sure how it was classified as an mmo. Just felt like a shooter with group elements.

I tried to get back into WoW during MoP and then again during this last expansion and couldn't do it. I had lead raids or lead guilds or just plain raided off and on in vanilla, WOTLK, and even in Cataclysm, but post Firelands and raid finder I never could find the love for it again. I even tried TERA and some other crap like that for a bit. Someone should stop me...

...because you know I'm gonna give it a go. It was a lot like an FPS that just happened to be played with other people around you who, for once, weren't trying to kill you. I did one or two dungeons or whatever the hell it was called, basically where you fight a big encounter with teammates, and that was really fun compared to the rest of the game. It was hard af to find people though. I think they are fixing some of that issue about grouping in Destiny 2 from what I read but someone who played it more would have to speak to that.

Mmos are one of those things ill prob never understand

It's a dark hole you are probably better off for having never gone down. I started with EverQuest's launch when I was 14. Erudite Necromancer and Wood Elf Druid lyfe, Mithaniel Marr server. Talk about some real setbacks when you die.

How up to date is the user list in the OP? I need low level friends to learn the game with. :)

I would venture most names are veteran folks. I haven't kept track of how many were added this year, but there were a good number there beforehand so that's probably not a good route to go looking for new players. I would add them, though, and post your tag in here and at the least there will be folks on when you get on. MMR issues and the like may prevent you playing together being a fun experience, but some will probably be in the range you need.

If you're just looking to do the Nexus Challenge, there's always /join nexuschallenge to find group mates.

If you're looking to really learn to play, /join amovetv /join frogpants are two pretty decent communities. I see folks asking for groups for QM and unranked in there fairly often, and they are a lot more laid back than the usual MOBA crowd from my experience. Keep in mind channels don't work amazingly well in game so you may not get a reply because people are already in a game (which you can see in the sidebar) and they can't see the channel chat until they get out.

Can always add the regulars here in the thread too like myself depending on your region.

I can see where the fun began in traditional mobas, but no way in hell could I see it in destiny. There's not 30 buttons to press. You literally just shoot and shoot more.

I mean im by no means an mmo expert but for me it's like

Moba: competitive team game you play in short bursts, kinda like playing basketball or something

Mmo: competitive rat killing simulator where you kill 10 rats in order to get an item that lets you kill 15 rats. Sometimes you get a group going on where you go through a rat dungeon killing rats until you reach the boss rat. If you cant kill the boss rat you can kill more rats

I'd say that's a decent comparison minus the "in short bursts" part.

Much like with MMOs, a healthy portion of people who play MOBAs play a good number of games per sitting multiple times per week aka basically spending MMO time playing a MOBA game.

That's part of the tilt of the whole genre. It's easy to get past the tilt if you only play two games or so when you log in. When you're playing 8 or 10 it's a little more difficult once that train gets going.

I hate hanamura, we won a game we had no business winning. We got destroyed entire game but our murky sneaked in a fort and we won on the back of that one extra shot on the last payload.

Hm yeah it is a bit disingenuous to say mobas are short esp. since in mmos you can just log off whenever. I was thinking about how the time is spent but i prob dont know enough about mmos to generalize too hard here; kinda just feel like mmos dont respect your time vs. mobas? Who knowz, but yeah prob not gonna get destiny haha

I don't think either respects your time. Particularly if we're throwing in the big two MOBAs. I think HOTS and the continued iterations of WoW do more to respect your time, but it's kind of like a backhanded respect at that.

Cayde 6 in HotS would be amazing. Same with Zavala and Ikora. They could have Oryx and other raid bosses as well.

I say why not.

I feel like you're talking about progression here and id agree with you there but playing a game of hots is just like playing a game of cs or something, you get the fun game w/ the adrenaline and the personal improvement and playing diff people w/ different ways of playing and so on.

When i was trying out wow last year with their free month a typical half an hour would pretty much be me walking out of town and killing killer scorpions until i went from lvl 14 to 15. But like...where was the fun and what does leveling up here even mean? I got up to the level where you can do instances only to find out that instances are just an alternative way to lvl up.

But yeah enough of me bashing something i probably dont understand in the first place

For addtl context i dont really understand diablo either or looty games in general

Mewnfarez is now streaming LoL. "Variety streamer". He had 5,000 viewers last week in HOTS, he now has 800. What an idiot. I hope nobody watches his dumbass when he comes back.

WoW is one of the greatest games ever made and it isnt at it's best until you are max level. It has compelling content and difficult raids that can take weeks to learn. Storylines and fun quests that tie in with raids and the world around you.

Leveling in WoW is kinda lame now because you can do it so quickly, at least until you get to the current expansion. It is a commitment to get to the greatest parts of the game. And once you are leveled you can go back and see incredible amount of content and do it easily solo.

Raiding is the only good content wow has, every little bit of trash you do is with the goal to raid better.
I tried to get back into WoW during MoP and then again during this last expansion and couldn't do it. I also tried Tera, what a creepy game. I liked Cataclysm but I lapsed when they released a patch that rendered all my equipment useless, then I returned with MoP and the dailies killed my desire to play WoW ever again or to do dailies for that matter. It was like a 2nd job when I was already doing 12 hour shifts.

The action combat in Tera is really fun, one of the best system in the genre but I just can't deal with the aesthetics especially when it comes to the characters. From the creepy loli race to the fact that pretty much every single outfit looks like complete trash.

Right now I'm waiting for the Secret World relaunch and hope that it fixes some of the gameplay issues because the setting, world building and writing in that game are exceptional. One of my favorite quest intros.

I tried Secret World, thought it looked (visually) terrible and couldn't get past it. RIP that money.

re: TERA, the combat was super fun. Agreed on the visuals. I never have been a fan of that stuff anyway so it didn't help me wanting to stay around.

Putting aside the awful...awful games today (except in the evening with Altaire and Prelude, those got better), some thoughts on todays heroes:

Diablo - only played 1 game, and granted it was a shitshow (a theme today), but I really didnt care for him. I dont like his kit, I couldnt land any charges into walls, I kept dying, just no fun whatsoever.

Anub - this was much better, only soured by the shitshow of QMs today. Really like his CC, I like burrow which can be used offensively or as an escape, I like the beetles, he's tanky as shit and can do some good body blocks. I took him to like level 8 or something but then I had to rage quit those QMs.

Malfurian - what a surprise as I thought he was super boring before but today for whatever reason he clicked with me. I feel super useful with the short cd heal, innervate, eoots and even a range poke for kills or interrupting objective channels. Also the twilight ult is great. I need to re-evaluate my whole support roster because im getting some unexpected feelings towards them. Case in point...

Morales - yeah she did nothing for me, which is weird because I loved her when I came back to the game and took her from 1 to 5 (I even bought her with gold straight up when I came back). Using Malf as an example I felt that with Morales you heal and...thats about it. She has her little displacing grenade I guess but man what a letdown. It doesn't help the game was a crap shoot either I guess.

Xul - A few more games on him as I slowly get him to 10 (which I might aswell now for the gold/boxes) but im back to not liking him. I hate his kit, I prefer any other of the specialist lane pushers, and if you build for damage, well you could do much better with an actual dps or even a warrior.

I also played a game with D.Va just to get back in the zone with a win (which I did get lol) and she remains amazing.

I don't even think I am that good with uther, but I am 7/10 with him. Which is makes him my highest winrate character. Must be the killer legendary skins I got for him. p2w skins that I got for free.

I also bought the d.va announcer. Another p2w item I got for free. Blizzard needs to relax with the p2w cosmetics :D

first two games as lunara. first two games i had a cho'gall on the team. both game lost.

third game i just picked dva. win. i guess blizzard just going to match every game to other dva.

Tera was good when it first launched. i put many hours into the game. but when they went F2P stopped.

Does Destiny have characters with unique moveset? I can sorta imagine a future in HotS where more content from Activision makes their way into the roster. I hope we get to see more Blizzard classics before that happens.

Get this, some player characters use pistols, others sub-machine guns, there are shotguns, sniper rifles and, this is where it gets crazy, a couple of different grenades. Each "class/spec" in Destiny had one active ability, most of which were just balls of energy, the biggest difference between them being where they were projected and what they did. The different races you can choose barely offer a visual difference and ( in the base game at least) offered no different passive or active abilities.

The characters from Overwatch all have a much more diverse and creative set of abilities than anything from Destiny. Borderlands was more creative (and debate-ably a hell of a lot more fun) than Destiny. I sincerely hope Blizzard exhausts all of their pre-existing franchises, even stuff like Blackthorn and Rock N' Roll Racers, before turning to something like Destiny for inspiration.

But Murky

D.va kind of is the warrior equivalent of Murky.

All of the tilt, none of the split-push.

Genji is fucking fun, he's the most legitimately enjoyable hero they've added to the game in a long while.

Most of the heroes added recently I feel are tons of fun. Lucio is probably the most boring tbh, he's good but his kit is just sooooooo boring to play with.

Easily the most boring support class for me up there with Li Li.

edit: Well after checking hotslogs lucio may not be that good anymore :p

even though qm very proud of this lol

wishes it were bannable to say mean things about Marvel
Man, I just opened a normal loot chest, one I obtained by simply leveling Probius from 8 to 9, and look at what I won!

Played a few games with her and I have to say that I find Dva pretty fun to play.

I just like Genji so much because he has such ridiculous mobility with his trait, with his dash, and with one of his ults. He can basically ignore a lot of terrain on the map. He's so good at chasing people down and/or getting away. Plus Reflect is such an awesome ability.

DM a dva ult eats that shit up. absorb 8K of it lol. one dva had the longer but more damage ult and i keep forgetting so my timing was always off.
