From an MMO perspective, that's pretty normal these days (See FFXIV)
From an Destiny perspective, probably bullshit considering how it worked in D1.
So...I dunno...
What.
But...FFXIV is the only MMO that does it this way...hardly "normal"
Is there any other MMOs the have a dye system? I dont remember WoW having it (though their armory is beast.)
A lot of MMOs have dye system. But I'm not sure how many of them offer dyes in microtransactions (especially in paid ones).

But it sounds like they've made the MTX less exploitative than they were in D1. Is that not worth mentioning? You guys who support this kind of stuff are digging your own graves. Every time someone says "Well, that's not so bad" to the latest moneygrubbing tactic, some guy in a boardroom somewhere takes that as a sign to go even further.
That's really fuckin shitty.
Come on, I wanna hear the PR spin to this.
14 is the only one that I know of. Hell they have a specific tab on the Mog Station for them.
Guild Wars 2 does, and once you unlock a dye it is unlocked on your entire account for unlimited uses.

Most of the time all you see of yourself in real life is the tip of your nose. Yet I'm sure you care a decent amount about your clothing. Most of the time all I can see is my gun. This is no big deal to me, not even a little deal actually.
I'd like to see that system implemented into destiny 2 instead of the current one.Guild Wars 2, which once you get a dye, you can add it to the dye wardrobe for unlimited uses and for any character.
Yea pretty much. People would be flipping their shit if CoD gamble box camos were one time use. This is no different.
Iunderstoodthatreferens.Gif"We made this game. And were pretty confident about how this game should be enjoyed."

So your argument is that cosmetics matter. Okay. My comment was simply that i was told that MTs for cosmetics were okay.
However while the change sucks, the core act of coloring and collecting shaders for your look did not the change. In fact, they increased the amount of what could be colored. Right? These shaders can still be collected in the world while you play, correct?
So it looks like the trade off is more detail and options vs consumables. I guess its up to the person to decide if its worth the trade. (And yeah you could argue that there shouldnt be a trade at all, but Bungie wants their money).
Destiny is an MMO. So i am really not surprised to see this. =/
Destiny is definitely a buy 2 play MMO. Silly to think otherwise. Also, are shaders a cornerstone of Destiny's business model? FFXIV is an even worse example because of the monthly fee and cash shop.
The fact that they're cosmetic is irrelevant, nobody would complain if you could byu a shader for cash in the store, but putting CONSUMABLE cosmetic iteems in chests that you can loot box buy is asinine. There is a mile of difference between getting a skin in a loot box, and getting a part of a skin (a color) that you have to reapply every time you get more gear, and having it be consumable.
I don't have to reacquire a McCree skin every time Iwant to equip it, for example. One is loot box microtransaction shit, the other is F2P Garbage style transactions. Just because it's cosmetic doesn't change that.
I love it that future expansions are being funded by people who pay for garbage like that.
Did people in Destiny 1 really swap out shaders that often anyways?
You don't have to pay for expansions?Meh.
Most triple A games have a hook these days.
I do not like it, but if let's say the 5% of people who give a shit about shaders fund the experience for everyone else, I have no problem with it.
People shine up their armour, and people like me who are more interested in gameplay benefit from the whales.

I was so disappointed last night when I got my first shaders and realized how it worked. What's more I got 3 of them, so cannot even dye a full set... Really hope they change their stance on this, but knowing Bungie I doubt they will do anything about it.
You don't have to pay for expansions?
I get the sentiment but I never got the shader from King's Fall in D1 despite running it multiple times specifically hoping to get it. I'd take a higher drop rate but being more selective in that respect.Imagine having to run a raid again just for the chance of getting a shader for a new piece of gear. That takes the fun out of it. I'm bummed.
