January PS+ update includes Grim Fandango Remastered and Hardware: Rivals on PS4

Pretty disappointing for me, as usual. There hasn't really been a PS+ title I've been interested in since the late PS3 days and when they still cared about the Vita. My PS+ is good until 2019 since I stocked up when they went on sale. I'm glad I only paid $30-$35 per year, but even then it really hasn't felt worth it, IMO. I only occasionally play online and that's pretty much the only justification I have for keeping PS+ around. I guess the PS+ sale prices are nice, but it's hard to tell if it's worth when I'm paying money to get those deals.

Has Sony even actually done anything to improve their online network? I'm disappointed people didn't get into a bigger uproar over having online play through a paywall. It'll probably never happen, but it'd be nice if they at least offered a "PS Lite" service for say $15 a year just to unlock online access.

Get one of the greatest adventures EVER
Proceed to shit on it

I swear, half of those complaining must be the same ones who stood up and clapped when Sony announced they were litteraly taking this out of the grave with a remaster. Can't wait for the reaction when they're gonna offer Day of the Tentacle too next year, or Psychonauts down the line.

/smh

Haha so true. I hope no one goes through grim fandango remaster announcenent reaction and see its the same folks here... Lol

That said, I can't wait for Grim Fandango so its a good month for me. Rivals will fulfill that Twisted Metal online craving.

Yeah. Even then, no puzzle in that game was impossible to solve without guide.
Imo hardest puzzle in that game was
casino betting puzzle, where you need to put the right numbers in that board, now that was tough to solve

I think I may have solved that originally, but 15 years later I had to google it :( Still, most of the puzzles are logical, without being too easy.

I love Grim Fandango, but I don't have any desire to go through its puzzles again (it's been a long long time and I've forgotten the solutions most likely).

I'm ambivalent about this upcoming month of ps+ games. Haven't really been into any of them in the past few months, actually. Been fairly lackluster.

Too bad that I already own Grim, would have loved if it was the new double fine remake instead. Hardware might be fun.

Twisted metal clone and yet another adventure game.

It is a high quality adventure game... But that is kind of pushing the genre. Where are my indie 2d platformers with rogue-like elements? We had a thing going.

Wow there really is a new kind of gamer underclass when something like Grim Fandango free is a poor choice.

Nice, avoided buying Grim Fandango because I knew it would come to PS+ pretty quick. No real interest in Hardware but I'll give it a shot. Quite a few Adventure games with this, King's Quest, Walking Dead and Broken Age back to back.

Grim Fandango, nice! Almost bought it when it was at sale some time ago, glad I didn't.
Not interested in Hardware:Rivals though.

I think what he is trying to say is that Grim Fandango is a great game, some might say its a masterpiece. It's a well celebrated game, and folks are all "meh" about it here early morning in GAFLand, whereas just a few months ago everyone was losing their mind over the remaster announcement.

And he's not wrong. Pearls before swine.

Already bought Grim Fandango when it was released, but I'm happy more people get to experience it now.

Well, why would you want a critically acclaimed game when you could ask for Killzone Shadowfall instead? Sony needs to step up their game.

I guess I get value out of PS+ because I seem to view it differently than most other people. A lot of people seem to see it as a way of playing games they've heard and know they'll enjoy, whereas I see it as a way of trying out games I otherwise wouldn't have heard of or paid for.

while grim fandango is a fantastic game. I've played/beaten it so many times /= Wish they gave you a choice of like 3 games and let you pick two /=

Well played. I was certain it wouldn't come soon. Wrong bet from my part so I bought it on sale.

My line of thought: There was already one DF game recently on PS+, and the PS+ was being hammered with adventure games, they would probably take a break for some time...

Bought Grim Fandango when it was released on psn this past Jan. Enjoyed every moment of it. Glad more people get to play. Of course this being another month PS+ does nothing for me, it's always I either own the game or don't care enough to download and spend time with one. I will grab that free Grim theme though.

No interest from me, not enough to warrant a sub.

Even funnier is people calling for open world Ubi stuff or FPS, litteraly the epitome of the daily soup, "for variety" over a fucking adventure game. A genre that's basically a white tiger, even more so on consoles.

I'll give Hardware Rivals a try. I heard that Grim Fandango is basically "strategy guide: the game" and can't be beaten without one, so I am not interested

Nah. I beat it as a kid before the internets. It's a masterpiece and an awesome get. Decades later, I'd still list it as one of the best games I've ever played, though admittedly the genre has aged a bit out of fashion.

Oh wow, watched some Hardware Rivals gameplay and it looks quite fun!

Yeah, I was shocked I missed the beta. Opinion seems quite mixed, but considering the closest I have to car combat is Cell Damage HD, I'm looking forward to giving this a shot and breaking up some of my Rocket League time.
