I'm howling at this new pic in the article.

Having lost his companion, Grape-kun began spending more time apart from the other members of the penguin colony. Then, like a lonely, lovesick otaku taking refuge in anime indulgence, he became enthralled with Hululu once a cardboard standee of the character was placed near the penguin habitat.....

Sad :(

Poor Grape-kun..

Just read the update. The situation with midori is weird and sad. Glad to see grape getting extra attention and care now though. Maybe this will actually inspire zoo goeers to learn about Humboldt penguin and their habits while caring about preservation efforts. Attaching not just anime characters but a real drama to the zoo collaboration could do a lot of good.

penguins are sick, vile creatures. they wouldn't think twice about copulating with a half rotten corpse semi-frozen to the ground.

Act 1 - Grape-kun meets waifu
Act 2 - romance gain popularity
Act 3 - tragic NTR backstory revealed
Act 4 - waifu fatal health condition, may not last for more than a few months
Act 5 - Depression and eventual Acceptance to move on

It fucking writes itself

To be fair, the article mentioned that the reason they would eventually have to take it down because it was not made of material to last that long, it'll eventually lose its luster.

Basically this is the deadly Anime sickness trope.

If Shakespeare was alive today he would be drawn to this deeply tragic narrative and his Tweetstorm about it would be phenomenal.

Couldn't they just replace it with something that would last longer or keep spares and swap when he isnt there to see the swap
