I just picked up the PS3 version last night so I only have a little over an hour of playtime into it but I felt the controls on the PS3 had improved over the demo - more responsive. I hate the triggers on the Dualshock but didn't feel I had to push too hard to shoot.

Excellent, thanks!

If this is the power station that you take over for the Ular Boys stronghold, there's a small destructable behind the first building on the right from the entrance gate at the start of the mission. That was the one that took me forever to find.
Ooh, I'll have to check this. Thanks!

Is the military broken in this game? I gain heat for doing absolutely nothing. They are way too aggressive and spawn out of no where.

Even if you're doing "nothing" you can get heat by entering restricted areas.

Or, if your faction friends decide to get in a fight with the military near you, by association you gain heat.

Dead

well not really...yet
Can you only join 1 faction?

IIRC it was said earlier you need to join all 3, yet I no longer see the symbols for the other factions to join them?

This is true, but in fairness it is just as easy to get away from them as it is to call them towards you.

Awesome. So, during the demo thread I mentioned a glitch where my left arm disappeared and I lost use of my grappling hook and secondary weapon until the countdown timer ended.

Well, I just encountered something a bit more serious and a lot less fun. While I was playing about an hour ago, all of a sudden my view locked and I was stuck staring at the ground. I made a futile attempt at running away, died, and got annoyed with the glitched and quit the game.

So, I loaded up my save just now. I still can't look around. No use of the right analog stick. I freaked out and thought my controller broke, but that's not the case. The right stick works perfectly fine in other games, but Just Cause 2 appears to have saved the god damned glitch. And, as I was getting ready to pack the game up and send it back to Gamefly I checked the options screen. The game set my aim sensitivity to 0 and reverted all of my other settings. Yeah, that's a reasonable thing to happen.

All audio options were put at 1, as well. HUD opacity on 0, all display options turned to "off." The game violently turned off every single option it had.

edited because I checked the options screen. Playing on PS3.

Both escort missions were easy.

I made the mistake, however, of starting the game on the higher than normal difficulty.

Without a good cover system and decent AI, well, it makes the fuck-around-in-a-sandbox experience a lot less fun.

I'm still pretty early in the game so I might start over.

I really don't know shit about editing videos and stuff like video size and compression...but I toiled on this creation for a good portion of the day because I just HAD to make it when I started fucking around with the Agency boat...

Available in 1080p I guess, who knows. Consider this an entry in the contest.

I'm on a Boat general havok ;)

Both escort missions were easy once you realized that there wasn't so much bad AI as there was no AI whatsoever, and the person you are escorting will do nothing at all to prevent their own death. If you run ahead instead of following like the game prompts then it's easy. Unless, of course, Tom runs in front of your stream of machine gun fire because he saw something shiny over on the other side of the path.

Oh damn, it was still processing.

Wow, that's a huge improvement. You can tell I don't upload videos to youtube very often. :lol

No point raging about it I guess. It's a sandbox game with sorta spotty AI and some harrowing escort missions. Focus on the overall game experience. It's fucking amazing in scope and freedom.

Finally plugged in my Wired 360 controller for the PC version. Wow, this game was not meant for a mouse and keyboard.

Guess I'll do that tonight.

Flying the helicopter with the mouse = shit.

Night and day to me, imo. Feels smooth as silk with the controller.

[OCD]The map runs at a smoother framerate when viewing it after selecting the 'extraction' option from the black market then it does while viewing it any other time.[/OCD]

Speaking of framerate, what's the deal with the cutscenes?
It runs fine during gameplay (PS3) but during the cutscenes the framerate drops like crazy, plus they look worse than the actual gameplay.

It isn't great or anything and the enemies take soak up too much damage,

I haven't upgraded them yet, aside from maybe one or two weapons. I'm sure that'll help with the damage issue.

That's because there's less icons on it.

Go into the regular map during gameplay, and then select "hide all" for the legend options, the map will be super smooth lol.

Speaking of the map, has anyone noticed weird flickering while looking at the map or during a black market extraction??

I'll be looking at the map and like random black 'flashes' happen on the screen. It sometimes happens in the Pause Menu too. Doesn't happen during gameplay, and none of my other games do it. My PS3 is only a couple months old too since I replaced my original 60GB.

It's the same on the 360, though I think everything looks better for the most part. The most annoying thing for me technically is the loading during cutscenes, but especially when I call the black market dealer. I don't care for realism, I want that menu called up right when I hit the button, I don't need a loading screen and a mini cutscene.

That's because there's less icons on it.

That's not the case, I tried that and it still runs at the lower clip.

Yeah, that and I don't like how it exits the menu every time you buy an item.
It would be nice if you could buy a few things without having to call him repeatedly.
Anyways, I got like 4 hours left for work and then it's Just Cause time, can't wait!!!

We're on different platforms I see though. Hiding all icons makes my map run better on PS3. Not an incredible difference, but surely smoother. No doubt about that.

I just encountered another strange bug. The game started spawning traffic in the wrong direction, both lanes were going the same direction. After going in the right lane for a while dodging traffic I finally caught up with some cars going in my direction.

Man, this game is so beautiful. I flew one of those very large passenger planes you find at the airport. I flew it between lots of clouds while watching the sun go down.

Some scenes in this game have never been done so greatly in any other game before.

I just arrived at the LOST island. So awesome. :D

I've been looking over the last several pages and I can't find the co-ordinates to the LOST island, only the videos of it. As much as I'd like to find it on my own, considering the size of this game it would probably take forever. I need to see it.

Unrelated, but adding music to your youtube video is cool.

It's the island on the upper-left corner of the map. It was one of the first places I ended up at after the first missions and unlocking the mini-jet. I didn't realize it was the LOST island, though...

I'd tell you but I don't know how to black out spoilers on Neogaf. Anyone help? :lol

The coordinates of the hatch on the island are
17XX by 43XX I think. It's the northwest most island on the map and the hatch isn't far inland from the southern shore.

There's some really cool stuff that's not related to Lost. Though I did see a (season 6 spoiler from a few episodes back)
lighthouse
before I saw the hatch or any of the other stuff and almost shit myself wondering how they knew :lol :lol

Wow, the desert location they chose for the demo is by far the ugliest environment I've seen so far. The full game has some much nicer views.

Guys I have a quick question. When I run the Just cause 2 Bechmark it says I only 4095GB of ram...I have 6GB. Is there something wrong?

SO TRUE, I'm so glad I went out and got that wired Mad Catz 360 controller. It's like playing a completely different game. Best $25 ever spent. I'm just amazed at how awesome it is to use a pad with this game. Game is running lean.

I'm with you - rather, it's the most boring. The snowy mountain tops and LOST island have been my favorite so far.

Its probably just a 32 bit executable so it can't see anything more than 4GB of RAM. Its no big deal, the game isn't heavy on RAM usage and the same happens for me as well.

It's definitely not that, I'm running 32 bit with 3 gigs of RAM and it only sees 2. There is just something funky in their RAM detector.
