The premise of the video is that I’ve walked all the way from New York City to Nebraska to get him back. I’m walking with no luggage and no nothing, It’s just me and my ankles are kind of bleeding a little bit and there’s grass stuck in my shoes and I’ve got this outfit on and it's a real sort of New York clothing, it’s sort of woolly and I’m sprinting down.

Yeah [I actually felt the pain when I was filming the video]. Yeah and the idea that you’re away from someone you love – it’s torture, it’s a really powerfully and awful and strange feeling when you’re away from the person that you love and I knew that I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles to get him back.

I looked out and it’s so beautiful, that tall corn, it really has a life of its own. I was looking out into the distance and it was all green just for miles and miles.

I’ve written a lot of music about him [Lüc], and for many years [he has been my muse]. The person I wrote the song [Yoü and I] about has been my buddy and best friend since I was 19.

I did listen to the interview and video is sounding awesome though. Hopefully all the rumors are true.

I think it's utter garbage, and if it gets released in Europe, I think it'll have to do well mainly based on Gaga's name. I doubt the mix of unoffensive country & rock is popular over here. But perhaps this song will do better in the US.

Then again, I'm basing this off nothing, so who knows.

You & I taps a different audience than the other singles this cd. There are other people that like Gaga on the periphery that aren't dance kids and will grab this.

This is a great single.

Why does it matter though. You've already got the songs. Just because she doesn't release Marry the Night (now), doesn't mean you are depraved of listening to that song. And if the rumors are right, she will release just about every song on the album as a single anyway.

If I put my executive glasses on for a minute, I might care about which singles get a proper release/video. But without the glasses, I honestly don't give a shit. Your favorite song not becoming a single has the added benefit that you won't get burned out on it because all radio/tv channels play it 24/7.

...although I'd like to see what imagery would go with "ride ride pony ride ride". :)

I personally care because of the videos(main reason why I was disappointed how EoG turned out), and I'm sort of an anti-hipster, meaning when I like something I want it to go mainstream so everyone can like it too, lol.

Plus she hasn't released any club bangers, all they play is BTW or her old stuff.
But she said 9 singles, so we have 5 more to go if she wasn't lying.

I enjoy her video treatments. Judas and Born This Way were great to watch, particularly the former for me.

I love the music either way, but the extra stuff would be great too. The way she treated Dance in the Dark at the Monster Ball last year was so good and made me so excited to see her video when it became a single (at the time Telephone was the single out and Alejandro was no where in sight to become the next one).

But yeah, you are right. I don't really listen to the radio so I'm not scared of it burning out. I just know that releasing some more Gaga-esque songs will get more fans than You And I would, at least fans that I would want to have a discussion with. =P

I gotta admit, a benefit of having your fav song being a single is that the chances are bigger it gets played in clubs or at parties. I didn't think of that, but it's quite important for me. There's nothing like dancing to your favorite music. :)

Get ready for another number one single from Gaga. You & I is gonna kill it. If anything it's less of a risk than some of her other songs because I think people are gonna eat it up.

1) It was the highest charting non-single from Born This Way

2) People are on an Adele high right now, and are looking for something not so stereotypically pop

3) "Soul Sister" and "I'm Yours" show that a charming, slow-paced song with a good hook will do well for a long time

I agree. Yoü & I also has a lot of crossover appeal with the country stations. It has potential to be absolutely massive.

Might not do as good elsewhere, but Gaga needs a massive hit in America right now more than anywhere else.

Still don't know how I feel about You and I being the next single, especially the one that continues the Pap/Telephone saga. I REALLY wanted Americano to continue the Telephone story...

The song doesn't deserve the weird acid trip that is the Telephone/Paparazzi series, although I understand how it fits with the plot (she's running away, and decides to go get Luc back), plus the outfit she's wearing is definitely similar to the one she wore in Telephone in the last scene.

But yeah I think Americano or Government Hooker would work better with that kind of direction. I can imagine a Government Hooker video where she's captured and interrogated by the Government and it turns into this "I can do anything," "pick up and turn around" back and forth. Actually that sounds kind of amazing. Make it happen Gaga.

Also I can't really picture how Yuyi would fit into the atmosphere of this song. The whole mermaid concept would fit better with 'Hair' honestly. But whatever, bitch can do no wrong. It'll be fab either way.

You and I has a good possibility of smashing if she promotes in the appropiate formats. Im talking HOT AC, AC, Country, the likes. The pop format will be the last to accept it until it crosses over but once it does, there aint no stopping it. Its a great slow burner too.

You guys give Marry The Night too much hit credit IMO. It wouldnt flop like Judas did but I dont see big radio potential. Even if its one of her best.

Yeah I never saw Marry The Night as a potential chart-topper. I feel like Americano, Scheiße and Government Hooker would be bigger hits. It's hard to gauge just what would click with people and what wouldn't with what happened to Judas, because that was both a club song and had that proven Gaga flavor, but just didn't burn up the charts like it should have. Could have been the early leak, or the religious themes, or something else I'm not sure. But yeah ever since then the barometer for success becomes cloudier.

Just my take on You And I but I burned out quickly on her first three singles after loving her past stuff. I decided against picking up the album but I just listened to You And I on YouTube and I actually liked it. I usually don't like slower stuff playing on the radio and was never really a fan of Adele but this I do like.
