Le Pen dislikes many people, but not Russians for some reason.

French Jews holding dual Israeli citizenship will have to give up one of their nationalities if Marine Le Pen, the far-Right candidate, wins the presidential election this spring.

The leader of the anti-immigration Front National said she would bar French nationals from holding the citizenship of countries outside the European Union, except for Russia, which she described as part of “the Europe of nations.”

An admirer of Vladimir Putin, Ms Le Pen said dual US nationals would also have to forgo their American citizenship, despite her support for Donald Trump and her enthusiastic backing of his executive order restricting travel to the United States from seven mainly Muslim nations.

Macron, kick this bootlicker's ass. Le Pen going so hard on being pro-Russia the week that Russia decriminalized domestic violence is a disgrace, she needs to lose horribly.

Holy shit. As an American I took your guys word for it that this lady was nuts and never really looked into it.

Wow, yeah. Gross.

Is she the female version of Trump?

Yeah sure. I mean, she went to the tower for an audience and everything.

Is she still the front-runner?

Macron, the centrist, is currently leading but everything is in flux right now because the heavy favorite from two weeks ago is caught up in a huge number of scandals and I'm not sure if Macron is scandal free considering that he's been barely visible until recently and he was a banker.

Did anyone see the video of the French reporter getting literally dragged away and punched in the face for asking Le Pen about her MEP expenses?

This citizenship bullshit would affect me too since I've got dual citizenship with NZ. If any of you vote for her FrenchGAF I'll take it personally.

Never say never but she has no hope in hell of winning. French are quite savvy with politics, suckers they are not.

She is funded by Putin to be a destabilizing force. Of course she likes Russia. WikiLeaks etc. are in full on leak shit to make everyone but Le Pen look bad mode.

Its Trump Candidacy all over again. Now we just have to wait and see what happens when it comes to the actual election.

She's gonna win isn't she? The right-wing seems to be winning all over the world

Yep. Latest polls have her as easily winning the first round of voting. They may try and frame this as Russian meddling or her being a Russian puppet to try and downplay her popularity , but last year they needed to withdraw candidates just to beat Pen in an election. With the Fillon scandal she is now the frontrunner.

I mean, it certainly seems like it...

but isn't this just as bad as when the right claims that every protest is paid for by Soros?

Lets deal in facts.

Russian Banks have given her millions of dollars when no one else would. What a shock it seems to be the same way with Donald Trump. US banks laugh at the idea of giving him money yet Russia lines up to hand him funds

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much

It is a fact that her party secured a €9m loan from a Russian bank close to Putin after being refused the money by those in France. In return she happily praises Putin and his annexation of Crimea.

Trump's only consistent policy is that non-white people are bad.

Surprisingly, this is also Le Pen's only consistent policy also!

Only thing that Trump has really delivered on is support for Israel. Also Le Pen claims mostly socialist policies. But there I believe there is the also idea of tailoring the policies to who is listening. i.e. saying anything to get elected.

Macron and Hamon are both hot on her heels and will likely take the second round. Her base is fanatical but doesn't represent 50% of France. Fillon entering the second round would probably help her win at this point though...

She's been expected to win the first round for quite a while now. Her second turn prospects still aren't getting better though.

Just like I said Trump will win, this lady is gonna win too.

Hope I'm wrong though.

I mean, maybe, but like, I sort of hate this train of thought.

"Brexit was a landslide, and then Leave won!" It wasn't. The polling was pretty correct near the end that it would be a nail biter. 52/48 is very close.

And if the American election were held with the same rules as Brexit, Hillary would be president, not Trump. But as with Brexit, the polling actually got close near the end of the election, though had mostly been in a low-single digit range during the last few months. It wasn't as "close" as Brexit was, but again, Hillary would've won if we were using the Brexit rules. A 5 point polling margin actually being a 2 point win is totally in the realm of possibility. And the high level of undecideds created a level of uncertainty tricked a bunch of models (this was something to watch for the French election, by the way).

You're not seeing that in France. Both Fillon and even more so, Macron, poll with numbers that would make David Cameron and Hillary Clinton blush. It's something to watch, and if we've learned anything in 2016 -- it's not over till it's over, but it's a bit annoying to ignore the context of where these races currently are.

Granted, I would feel much better if it's Macron v Le Pen, but eh.

She's also pledged to recognise Crimea and drop sanctions against Russia.

The le Pens have been the posterchild for European neo-Nazism for decades. Have you really not heard of them?

Maybe not that, yet, but she saw how pandering to Russia gave Trump the win. She could very well just be pandering to Russia in hopes that their hacker-PAC will give her a boost.

No, it's not some dismissive flight of fancy, her party is literally funded by Russia.

Yeah, like, this has been pretty well documented for a while that they get most of their loans through Russian banks.

You're probably right. Most polls have her winning the first round but losing the runoff. But with the polls being so wrong all over, I wouldn't put it past French voters saying one thing but doing another at the polls. Either way, who would've thought that an actual far right ultranationalist would be on the cusp of French presidency.

Sorry guys, I never heard of her. Don't follow EU politics enough to know. But thanks for the info. She sounds horrifying.

This already was a risk in 2002. Le Pen's father Jean-Marie Le Pen was the candidate then.
