Also, what dang year is this?
I NEED AN EXPLANATION FOR JOAN'S HORRIFYING EYEBROWS.
November 1964. Thanksgiving, and Roger said it's been quite a year for Don or something to that effect._dementia said:1965 i'm guessing

Nothing extraordinary by Mad Men's ridiculously high standards, but season premieres are rarely extraordinary episodes. The episode served a very practical purpose - establishing exactly where everyone is and what they're doing. Since the Season 3 was pure chaos, we needed to get up to speed, and Weiner did it without being talky and exposition-laden. Bravo.
Obviously, Betty is as bad a parent as always, but I love how Weiner showed how Don completely wasted his weekend with the kids. Hopefully those who despise Betty didn't miss that. Poor kids. Both of their parents suck.
Peggy is a genius, and so ridiculously ahead of her time. It's nice to see her on a more level footing with Don. The banter between them was fun.
Great, great ep. I'm so excited for the rest of the season.
BenjaminBirdie said:Also interesting that Don moved to Waverly and 6th. Not uptown or midtown. Especially since, IIRC, the office is in midtown, I believe he said the Time-Life Building.
Fair point. My parents are happily married, so I have no experience in this area. But the sequence definitely implies that Don and his children get very little out of their time together.OneEightZero said:I was thinking that too. Though it's been a year of weekend like this. I figure the kids and Don have fallen into a standard parent separation monotony.

He's obviously not in the mindset to date (connect), so he relies on the impersonal connection that he gets from consumable sex.Rapping Granny said:Damn, if Don Draper has to pay for sex then we are all fucked.
I don't think he's paying for the sex, he's paying for the weird fetish :lolRapping Granny said:Damn, if Don Draper has to pay for sex then we are all fucked.
Anyways amazing episode and the love the new direction they are taking with the characters.
