Its cause we built it and said " that's good" and never updated
This needs to be the standard, it still boggles my mind that the most powerful nation in the world has some of the shittiest public infrastructure I've seen in my travels abroad.

Have you been in a nyc subway before? It's one of the dirtiest places i've ever been. The JFK AirTrain has these glass barriers. They look fine to me.

The thing is, people do wierd shit in high stress situations. I'd like to think I'd try to help someone, but id probably freeze up.
You would think there would be safety barriers in more of the high risk areas. They don't have to be the full height walls, but half like below.
Really, NYP?
If some dude threw another dude onto the train tracks I wouldn't have let him leave.
DONGMEN
Makes The Sun look classy.
I don't believe the story, but what else could he have done?
Help pull the guy up?
How long does that take? How long does he have?
Questions that would need to be answered.
Not only installing but maintaining them would be crazy.I don't think i would make much sense for something that doesn't happen very often.Yes. I've lived in NYC all my life. I would think the cost of installing the glass barriers is preventing the MTA from doing so.
This doesnt matter.

Yeah, that's weird. The article made it sound as if tons of people were trying to get him out of there.Yikes @ The Post. What I find particularly odd about that photo though is the lack of other people in it. Why is the platform so empty?
Enough time for the guy that got thrown through the air, landed in the middle of the tracks probably stunned, recover, gather himself and try to make it to the edge and start trying to climb up.
While people stood there and at least one person snapping multiple pictures. You notice there is no one else at all in frame making any movements towards the guy either. There had to have been alot going through that guys head at that moment but I can't even imagine being in that situation, getting up and making it to the edge only to look over and see a crowd of people not moving to help me just snapping pictures of me about to die.

Um not even europe has those. I've traveled in the paris, madrid, london, berlin metros. All do not have safety barriers (I remember seeing some in paris but not at all.)
And how do you know any of this?
"More than a minute and possibly as long as 90 seconds elasped before the train slammed into him, a police source said."
Are you serious??!! THE BIG FUCKING PICTURE IN THE OP WHERE NO ONE IS AROUND THE GUY OR IN THE PICTURE.
Ignorance is bad but understandable. Failing to even acknowledge ignorance is pathetic. Furthermore the lack of reading comprehension isn't pretty either.
But hey, continue to judge. Who needs all the information?
They guy took a photo of the approaching train. Infact, its so far down the tunnel they had to put an arrow to identify it AND he standing next to the edge to get that shot. He then backed away from the edge to get the money shot. Humanity has been lost.
The image isn't cropped? You can say for sure where he's standing?
Also keep in mind the man, according to that source in the article, was drunk. A fact you've implied by you early decision that is meaningless.

Why is this thread full of outrage over the photographer and not the guy who committed murder?
