Being a big Marvel fan, and getting into the series because of Marvel, surprisingly I'm more excited about the Capcom side. I feel like there are a lot more unknowns with the Capcom roster. With the Marvel side, I feel like almost the entire roster will be expected--good and exciting--but still expected.

Yeah I don't think we're gonna see bizarre choices like X-23, MODOK and Taskmaster in this one. There's too many characters that Marvel wants to promote for them to get really out there. At most I'm expecting characters on the tier of Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl.
Capcom, meanwhile, I think there's a better chance of seeing out there picks.

Agreed. And even if they have obvious picks that they want to promote now, there's gotta be picks here and there that are geared towards who they will want to promote down the road.
Nobody saw Rocket Raccoon coming, much less that he was at all pertinent to Marvel's upcoming plans. But then lo and behold, we get a Guardians of the Galaxy movie announcement...
Oh, I'm confident that there'll be left field additions no doubt. I just feel like I'm going to be thoroughly satisfied with the Marvel side since most major MCU characters were my faves. With the Capcom side, the majority feels like it'll be a surprise.

With these games I'm all about the capcom side. While I don't dislike marvel or anything, and have some favorites I wanna see. I'm in much the same camp where capcom is gonna have the biggest surprises for me.

My biggest potential beef with a MCU focused roster is if they have too many superficially similar characters. Look at the Netflix males for example: Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Punisher. I can accept 2 or 3 but all 4 would irritate me. Same with the Guardians. The only 2 worth having are Rocket and Groot, the rest would seem like wasted slots.
I don't think you have to be concerned about that. MvC has always been about being big and flashy. This is why Cap can suddenly launch himself forward with no propulsion and Iron Man can summon a big laser cannon. If say, Star Lord gets in he's going to be handed a crapton of guns.

How are Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Punisher superficially similar? Visually, they look nothing alike, and they would all have distinct gameplay hooks.
Daredevil - two batons, radar sense (slowdown, dodging)
Iron Fist - Rekka-style kung fu, chi power-ups
Luke Cage - grappler/brawler with hyper armor
Punisher - firearm/explosive specialist

I have a feeling that we are going to get two characters from GOTG which is Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon and two or three characters from Netflix MCU but I don't know which one since I like all of them in the Netflix series. Iron Fist could be likely since they could reused his assets from UMVC3.
I agree on the Guardians, especially if Groot isn't his own character (if he is, I'd expect 3 Guardians). As for the Netflix side of the MCU, Daredevil & Iron Fist would just about do it terms of Defenders representation.
Honestly I was guessing Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon (with Groot assist) and Gamora.

New Nova ongoing with Richard and Sam as co-leads.
This also wouldn't surprise me, but I wouldn't be surprised if the third Cosmic Marvel character was Nova for the sake of bringing back a popular veteran.
The new Nova run by Jeff Loveness & Ramón Pérez. As mentioned by Weiss, it features both Richard Rider & Sam Alexander as a buddy-cop Nova comic of sorts. It's amazing so far.
