Media Create Sales 2/4 - 2/10

There's a Tecmo interview over at C3. It mentions Kyotaro Nishimura Suspense Series: Deadly Intent, that detective adventure game by, you guessed it: Tecmo.

Apparently sales are over 200k and still going strong. They want to achieve 300k LTD - and might do just that. Oh and I didn't know they already greenlighted a sequel, this time with another author.

Would be great if they could bring the concept over to western audiences, here in Europe Mankell is pretty popular - slim chance of it happening but it would be awesome :D .

Fred Vargas or Ian Rankin, please :)

Just think if the first game got a "best hits" type re-release right before Layton 3. Sales would be amazing. Of course it won't happen, it is still selling plenty well in its original price point.

Yup - both at around 800,000 if I remember correctly from the end of Jan posts.

Fantastic for a new franchise really, I've ordered one trial import copy before buying more for casual relatives :D

200K for GT5P disc only , in japan is everything but a failure. I would even call it a success. It means 300K imho for japan only. Easily million seller, maybe much more for this , is quite big.

Example of lowered expectation at work. Especially considering GT4P sales in Japan.

Indeed, what the hell? 200k for disc sales are good. With Warhawk, PSN sales were far higher than disc sales, so I'm curious to see what the ratio is like for GT5P.
For reference, SCEI expected 250k disc, 50k digital.

- Euro charts: Did very well; total number? No idea.
- US: Broke 300,000
- Worldwide shipments: 950k as of December 31st.

I think we're currently looking at WW sales of about 750-800K. It should, eventually, reach 1 million, which would be fantastic for a RE spin-off.

Thanks.

I'm glad it did well. I thought it was a pretty good game. Hopefully we'll get a more fleshed out Resident Evil in the future.

i think RE sales on wii have been the best possible for wii owners...

RE UC selling very well, but RE4 selling even better

12 preorders is pretty good... right? It's just for one store afterall.

I am talking about the preorders of Ace Attorney 4 compared to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

Edit: Yeah, I am also disappointed that Crisis Core doesn't have 40+ preorders.

They've been great. RE4 has passed 1 million in sales (I think it's around 1.15 actually) and UC ultimately will too. That's 2 RE games which have sold 1 million, despite the fact one is a port (and the 4th port of a 3 year old game!) and the other a low-budged spinoff which received mediocre critical reception.

The development nature of these two projects (one being a port and the other low budget) means Capcom will have made a HUGE earning of these games and this should open the door for more Resident Evil goodness on Wii.

I remember it was never made clear whether the numbers were for the first week or total.
Yeah. Looking at GT4P sales, you'd think it was first week.... but looking at general PS3 software sales, you'd think it was lifetime. I'm leaning towards the latter moreso, I think reality's finally hit SCEI. :lol

That seems like a pretty significant drop for PSP hardware, wonder what caused that.

Well, MC has had PSP significantly higher for a while (If I'm remembering correctly)

After posting I looked back and unless I looked at the wrong post, leaked Famitsu numbers for last week were at 72k.

Hmm. Well, nevermind :lol :lol

Looks like Wii is starting to separate from the pack a bit

I think it's interesting how M&S DS version seems to have completely eaten into the Wii versions success.

Also, the abject drop of PSP sales makes me wonder two things:

1. Why they were selling so much before
2. What happened to make them sell so little in the span of one week

You're looking at 4 to 5 more years of Nintendo running it up in Japan. The only thing left in doubt IMO is whether Wii will pass PS2.

I doubt it will have much of an impact to be honest with you.

PS3 needs a redesign, I get the feeling it's just an image thing now. Redesigns manage to clear up perceptions, at least it did for the handhelds

Plus PS3 is huge, so they should be doing it anyway
