Media Create Sales: Week 17, 2017 (Apr 24 - Apr 30)

That would wind up being an entertaining thread. I think an insider told us there will likely be an E3 announcement that will spawn a thread for the archives. Wonder if it's anything Konami related...

I would kill for a FFIXR. My all time favorite Final Fantasy game being remade. I know it'll never happen atleast this generation.

Yeah, that's got to be it. Yup. It's got to be.

It clearly is, not sure what the GIF is for.

Since Nintendo won't open Splatoon 2 pre-orders inside Golden Week that gives 2 months or less for them. It looks Nintendo isn't in position to satisfy initial demand with current install base and tries to push it as back as is possible at that section.

If they did double Switch production back in March it could be that they want to begin to see the effects of that in the leadup to Splatoon 2. That's definitely their biggest release of the year over there, and it would be a huge missed opportunity not to have a good deal more stock available.

The only thing konami related that would fit that billing would be metal gear

Couldn't that canceled Silent Hills cause a lot of salt too? Seems highly unlikely/impossible though given del Toro's comments on it.

Possibly i suppose yeah especially on here, was just thinking from a mainstream appeal point of view silent hill is nowhere near metal gear

some Ips I think will fit that billing:Castlevania, Suikoden, Silent Hill, PES(lol),Metal Gear, Contra. Those Ips drom what I think if any of them being an exclusive big budgets UE4 game will guarantee an awesome thread

You cannot double production in a single day when we talk for high numbers. It can take weeks or even months if you l want manufacturing costs to fall and not rise.

I think it makes sense for them as a company that releases everything as multiplatform anyway, and also doesn't really seem to have technical barriers that would prevent their games from running on Switch.

How about sales potential for their franchises on Switch?

For the most part, I think Koei Tecmo's slate is dire and won't sell better no matter where they port it.

The Nintendo partnerships should go well for them on that front, as should the outsourcing work for Square Enix, but their internal titles sans Nioh don't seem to be going anyway.

That said, I don't think they're especially likely to drop the Switch due to bad sales unless they're literally losing money, given the level of PC sales they seem happy with.

Honestly Zelda had a smaller increase than I was thinking it would this week. The extra surge of hardware this week didnt really help much.

The rumor I'm basing that from was them doubling their FY17 production, and they began that process in March - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1353192&

If that process began in March it may not be until May-July before they start being able to ship and sell their increased stock. I'd imagine Nintendo will do everything they can to ensure adequate stock for Splatoon 2, even putting that over Mario Kart 8 Deluxe stock availability.

that puzzling face
How about the Original Final Fantasy Remake? That would bring tons of heats for sure

Mobius Final Fantasy is in many ways a 'reboot' of the first game, or at least a self-aware 'parody' that relies on the player knowing FFI to make sense of a lot of things lorewise.

It even shares the same realm classification as FFI within FFRK.

Of course, it's nowhere close to a 1:1 retelling, in setting nor scope.

For anyone who doubts MK8D selling as an expanded port.
280k Japan
~70k UK
459k+ US
That is already at least 809k first weekend.
Never doubt MK ever again folks it'll always surprise.
Anyway Switch did well(I mean 75k is still great) and Zelda increases which is awesome.
Go Bomberman go!

Zhugeex has said it sold over a million in April, so pretty confident in that.

Still impressive how good Switch is selling despite costing more than a 3DS and that got a price cut not that long after launch!

Still amazed that they had more switch in stock for week 4 than they did this week.
Yeah, it's honestly pretty baffling. But perhaps they can surprise us with a large GW shipment in addition to this week's bump?
I'ma wait and see

It actually does make a lot of money. Square Enix made over $612 million in mobile revenue last fiscal year, and Brave Exvius was one of the biggest components of that.

It hit 20 million downloads not too long ago as well, so pretty good reach.

Don't they also include their browser based games with that figure.

A Wii graph would be interesting ^^

Is it known what accounts for the number differences and why Famitsu numbers are typically lower?

Numbers for most charts are just estimates based on data from retailers. Suspect both MC and famitsu have different data samples to work from hense the differences some of the time.

Could be wrong mind

This is a Chinese chart, but I felt it was worth noting the success Fate/Grand Order has managed in China, which is a notoriously hard to break into market, especially for non-Chinese, non-Korean companies:

Don't they also include their browser based games with that figure.

Yes, though I don't think Sengoku IXA really make money anymore.

Their divisions are:

Online: MMO subscriptions/microtransactions and the cost of their base games/expansion packs
Mobile: Mobile and Social (they used to have some successful browser games on Yahoo Japan)
HD Games: All console, handheld, and non-MMO/non-browser PC games

If you gloss over the stock situation problem, you could say Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was testfired. Splatoon keeps kicking ass and taking names.

Someone reminded me that Akiba's Beat Vita released this week. Lol.

Acquire cared so much about that port they released it five months late at full price (you can buy new copies of the PS4 version for 1000 yen) with no additional content, no revised gameplay and essentially no promotion (no trailers, no screenshots - the Akiba's Trip anime has been over for a while now). I'm sure it only exists because they were contractually obligated to deliver a Vita version to XSEED and Pqube.

Impressive Switch numbers. Will be interesting to see how long it can sell that well or it can go go further wuth upcoming games and more console shipments. I would not dare to predict the sales.

When Splatoon hits they'll sell every unit they can put on shelves. The only question is how many units that is.

Even with just Wii U ports they cant produce them fast enough, think about when they start selling pokemon and animal crossing bundles, with multiple sku's and a price drop. This is going to be a very, very, very successful platform for Nintendo. I was worried about Japanese developers who make games for dedicated gaming platforms, the switch has given those developers a strong financial reason to keep making core games instead of being forced into the mobile arena.

Much lower numbers than I expected, I though they'd ship at least enough for the launch and April in Japan to reach a million - yet both the launch and subsequent MK8D launch have been more of situation of where Japan doesn't seem to be the focus in terms of satisfying demand and making the Switch readily available.
To me it seems that the US has gotten the lionshare of the restock and that's driving the biggest MK opening and subsequent PR. So the NPD numbers this month will answer a lot of questions in that regard and what the initial Switch monthly shipments would have looked like.
Hopefully we see enough Switches to satisfy demand for the Splatoon 2 launch. Also it's about time they do another Testfire
