Media Create Sales: Week 52, 2013 (Dec 23 - Dec 29)

Very happy that Zelda seems to have completely sold out - hopefully this will affirm to nintendo that this is the way forward. Bit annoying that it didn't get a larger shipment though, hard to say what the full sales potential is now given some people will go ddl rather then wait till next week.

Did they combine Vita and Vita TV numbers?

Maybe vita tv sold 0 this week

Interesting, it outsold every other handheld Zeldas at launch except for the DS games and I would assume it's because of the insane popularity of the DS.

Thanks!

Didn't WiiU need to sell at least 200k in Dec to signal a real turn around?

What about LTTP:4S [GBA]? FW/LTD?
Minish Cap had a terrible FW, I wonder where it ended up tho

Even if we ignore the standalone Vita copies of FFX and FFX-2, it seems it beat out Lightning Returns.

Famitsu:
LR: 301,181
FFX/X-2 Combo Packs: 317,283

Well, i guess Square Enix is going to make a lot more remakes in the future.

Here I feel Zelda continues its relatively ho-hum position in the market.

These aren't bad sales, and I'm pretty convinced they're retaining their core audience, but they're not seeming to attract anyone new to the series, and are losing a lot of the people they picked up during the DS era despite some 3DS franchises around that size having gone up a bit.

Or, in other words, it seems to be suffering from Metal Gear syndrome.

Edit: Apparently it's sold out, which makes it harder to judge anything by.

Edit 2: Looking at the LTDs I cede my whole point. It fluctuates wildly per entry and the spin-offs are some of the most successful, suggesting that the game's fate relies pretty heavily on how much the casual fanbase takes on to it. See below.

Good Zelda and FFX/X-2 numbers. Crazy how Gung-Ho have hit their target sales for P&D Z so quickly. Luigi's Mansion 2 will hit 1m soon too!

Minish Cap sold poorly. Its LTD was barely above what ALBW has done first week (235k).

Stagnating?

oh, i forgot how long for SE do a remaster :(

KH 2.5 depending when it comes out will be out within a year to 1.5 years.

The problem with making that conclusion at this time is that the game was undershipped. It appears to be doing better than Nintendo expected.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Isnt it too soon for such a statement ? I mean they pretty much sold every copy which retailers ordered and its been sold out for days according to some J-Gaffers/Amazon. I dont even know how you would measure if its attracts new gamers or not, im pretty sure it`ll be the first 2D zelda for many gamers.

Fair, it is in the 80-100% band.

I didn't follow the tail end of the last thread to see if it was sold out.

Week 1 will probably see Luigi's Mansion2 hit a million, another buckle on 3DS's belt. I've liked the game enough to think it deserve it.
How many million sellers are there yet in the platform, is it possible to compare it launch aligned with the NDS?

235,400 for Minish Cap LTD.

Ouch. Do you have data on LTTP [GBA]? It's entirely missing from that chart and I somehow doubt it could've sold less then TWW:HD :p

Does anyone how much money GungHo is making with the 3DS version of Puzzle Dragon in comparison to the mobile version?

It's too early to call either way.
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D had high sellthrough as well.

They just don't want another Spirit Tracks situation on their hands though.

I wouldn't go that far.

Zelda has always been a franchise that is far bigger in the west than in Japan.

The Zelda has been seeing a decline in popularity over in Japan, so Nintendo probably had conservative estimates for the game. I'm glad to see it do well and I hope it maintains strong legs.

Well they did announce KH2 HD pretty soon after KH1 HD was out

Maybe they have been working on XII HD and it will be announced sooner rather than later.

Please.

i just jk :)
but it is weird, KH 1.5 is finished by only 2 people in Osaka team and they do it very quick. FFX/X-2 takes 2 years for HD remaster and i think they have a small team > 2 people for doing it. I hope this time (if) we can get FFXII remaster soon

All right, so duckroll argued to me that it would make a lot more sense to dump out LTDs for the games as well, and suggested it fluctuated wildly enough that it was casual base driven over core base driven, so I'll add them to what Aquamarine made:

What is LR LTD?

Last I checked it's still under 500K. Abysmal for any other FF game. Type-0 did much better even in its first week in Japan yet SE is rushing to get LR localized while they sit on their hands with FFXV and Type-0.

giphy.gif

When an HD remaster is outselling your newest FF you have to take the hint. Japanese fans are sending a message. Now let's see if NA and EU fans can send the same message when those games arrive.

Did Wind Waker HD figures affect shipments for ALBW or no correlation?

I'd be kind of surprised since one is on the most successful platform and one is on the least right now.

If anything, I'd expect Spirit Tracks to be the biggest impact since retailers got burned on that.

Thank god.

There are several different messages they could glean from this, Kagari. And many of them are not good. Then again, LR selling more could send them several messages as well. Honestly, I'm looking at this as a lose-lose since SE learning anything of value is too much to hope for. Honestly, I'm so mixed on the XIII series as a whole that I'm not even sure what message I want them to get.
