So I beat it and now I need friend vouchers. I have 16 of them. Do I send them to people for friend credits? How does it work? And will someone do this with me? Thanks
If you have a US Wii, send me a PM. I've got a bunch I need to trade.JadedOne said:Lets get the usual out of the way. This game is amazing, awesome, fantastic, fun, all wrapped up in one package.

Not at all. Some of us didn't like the dark world because you couldn't freely explore until the very very end when you gained the light suit. It was just annoying.Rash said:I was thinking about this game recently.
Does anyone else agree that the final sequence of the game is nearly the best? I really enjoyed Metroid Prime 3, but if there was one thing it lacked, it was the feeling of isolation that Metroid games are known for. You always seemed to be exposed to other forms of intelligence, whether it be other bounty hunters, or the federation, and that just didn't sit right with me for some reason. One of the aspects of Metroid Prime 2 that I think was highly underrated was the dark world aspect. Some of the folks who didn't like the game that much said that the dark world made you feel too isolated and trapped. Obviously these kinds of people prefer open worlds, and Metroid Prime 3 certainly delivered those.
But if there was one part of MP3 where I truly felt "alone" and insecure, it was that final sequence, where the phazon has fully corrupted your body, and it always felt that you were "living on the edge." This was actually the feeling that I thought MP3 was going to give us in the first place, before the game was released. I figured that hypermode would be much more dangerous to use and that using it correctly would be the difference between life or death.
Now, I know that the game did deliver this in some form. Yes, hypermode is dangerous if you use it too much, since it taps into your life energy and also can kill you if you let the phazon bar turn red and fill up completely. And believe me, I've been playing in the hypermode difficulty recently, so I know how important it is to smartly us the phazon capabilities. But, at the same time, it just doesn't seem like there's enough of the feeling that hypermode gives you throughout the game.
I've always viewed MP3 as being "the good version of Metroid Prime Hunters" because of how well it was executed as a Metroid game regardless of the traveling between planets. However, if there was once part of the game that didn't give me an MPH vibe, and that really sucked me into the world and general idea of Metroid, it was the final sequence. Kudos to Retro for including that. It was quite a good way to end things.
_Alkaline_ said:The Dark World is hard to judge, really. On one hand, Retro succeeded in creating a foreboding, volatile environment. It was a truly depressing place to be in, and actually quite scary at times. This - along with the more complex dark/light puzzles - was the Dark World's greatest strength, and in this light it's a fantastic achievement.
The issue I had with the Dark World was just getting through the place. It slowed the pace down to a standstill at times, and though this was often because of the need to stay in light beacons/crystals, I had more of a problem with the sheer number and power of the enemies within the world. Metroid enemies, save for a select few, should never be more than obstacles. But in the Dark World everything took far too many shots to kill. It's not that they were overly difficult - they weren't. They just took too much firepower to take down, and it wasn't fun. Just tedious. Hell, a tiny Dark Splinter took two fully charged shots to kill, and you were often surrounded by 4-5 of them!
There's a lot of backtracking in the Dark World, but it wouldn't be so bad if you could move through the place a lot quicker.

Listen just because 3 people left don't mean it's over for the studio, a trilogy like Metroid Prime don't happen because of 3 people, it happens because clearly the studio is full of talented people from across all levels.zoukka said:Now that Retro is no more(

I agree. Hunters gave us a pretty good idea of what a Prime game would look like without them and I wasn't happy. I'm still hopeful that we'll see good things from the guys that are left.Rez>You said:Weren't the three people who left the project lead, art director and lead programmer?
That's a significant loss.
retro've known the taste of such losses since genesis. several key figures left during/after the original prime cycle, and yet retro have released two sequels since then. also, let's not forget that one retro veteran died this year (Mark Haigh-Hutchinson).Rez>You said:Weren't the three people who left the project lead, art director and lead programmer?

Rash said:Of course, this isn't due to a lack Retro's "key members," it's due to a lack of Retro completely.
Darunia said:I've been making steady progress and the game has shifted into high gear in the last couple of hours, really getting the Metroid feel now. My favorite moment was discovering some new location outside of the Bryyo lava area, only to find the ScrewAttack at the end. Didn't think they would give it so soon.
The last thing I did was upgrading my ship with a grapple hook, how far along am I?
Leondexter said:As I recall, that's still fairly early in the game. Judge it by bosses: how many "supercharged with dark-energy bosses that explode when they die" type bosses have you fought so far?
I hate when I post in a thread and then forget about it until it gets bumped weeks later :|Mejilan said:Wait, you mean Metroid Prime Hunters? That wasn't Retro, that was NST.
Don't feel bad, the entire trilogy has pretty brutal endgames and I'm probably going to have to start Corruption over on normal to ever see the endingcamineet said:This is really pathetic GAF, almost a year and a half after MP3 came out, which I bought right way, and I am still less than 60% of the way though it, have not beaten Gandrayda yet.
Well one thing is for certain, I really know how to stretch a game out, make it last
Not only that, but I still have MP and MP2 sitting on my shelf, waiting to be finished, too!
Darunia said:Beat the game just now, 100%. Fitting final fight and ending to an incredible trilogy. Kudos to Retro. The final area was a blast, I loved being held on a short leash there with the Corruption stuff. I thought the Pirate Homeworld was the only disappointing area. It was way too linear and straightforward, I always like the areas I can get lost in the most.
Played the game on normal, not knowing it would be this easy. Half of the game I was playing on auto pilot, really should've picked Veteran. There was only one boss that nearly wiped me out even on that difficulty: Gandrayda. I figure she must be a real bitch on the harder modes.
So now we play the waiting game for a new Metroid announcement :/ I kinda feel like playing another one right now!
Rash said:As a side note, I've been enjoying some parts of this game almost more on my current run than I did the first time through. Skytown especially just feels like a better experience, and I don't know why.
