anyone else had a hard time in the tutorial because they couldnt read anything on their sdtv?

Not really, there's only a few times where there's text to read anyway. And I'm playing on a pretty crappy SDTV over composite at the moment.

The movement reminded me so much of The Specialists that the whole experience seemed to be lacking copious amounts of bullet time and mutiplayer madness. Then again I doubt many here have experienced the joy of kicking a revolver out of a mans hands, diving back off of him to grab it in mid-air and shoot him in the face with it in one fluid motion...

Then again I guess that's mostly nostalgia driven, it just felt a little average to me when it was something I'd been excited about.

Until you get a time that you have no idea how you got it, and you can't seem to ever get close to that time again - then its still addicting, but maddening

Goddamn this game is going to fucking rule.
All I can say is FUCK YES to that. Seriously, this GAME IS the FUCKING GNAR. Such a refreshing set of gameplay qualities and the art direction = STELLAR. I don't know, there's something badass about wallrunning between two walls to reach the top then jump 100+ feet to the next roof (landing with a roll).

Just phoned GAME (UK) and apparantly they have no agreement with EA at all to do demo codes... so... yeh... dicks...
Argh, why the hell is GAME on the official site then?
Ah well, thanks for taking one for the team.

They're lucky I still want that shirt and double reward points =/ ... Oh, and the game.

Fucking shit. Still no sign of a PC demo.
PC version isn't scheduled to hit until 2009.

Disappointing, I know, as that is the version I'd buy. I don't feel like waiting, however. Despite the fact that there are so many games being released right now, Mirror's Edge is still the one I want to play the most.

Who needs a Banjo platformer when we have this. Holy shit balls what an addictive demo :lol

Anyone else feel this game is what the Matrix titles should have been? You know, agents chasing you on rooftops while using your superior athletic and platforming :)D ) skills to get away! Damn, could've been great.

It's funny, because I had the new Banjo pre-ordered based on all the good impressions... played the demo for it... played the Mirror's Edge demo... switched my pre-order from Banjo to this game.

First tragedy, then farce.
Do we have any idea how long the game is yet?

Im torn between this and Gears 2. i wanted Gears 2 for a while, but cant afford both and am leaning towards this.

Has anyone got a Time Trial code from Play.com yet?

I pre-ordered from there just to get a code, but haven't got nothing. If they're not sending them until they dispatch the game I'll cancel it.

I've heard the single player is anywhere between 7-10 hours. Probably more if you're looking to do the time trials.

The most fun I had in the demo was shooting Celeste or whatever her name is...Over and over and over. I really don't see how they're going to keep Mirror's Edge interesting as you progress through the game. I think it would make more sense as a Portal-type game with short varied levels rather than an entire campaign experience.

Will ME pave the way for future FPS? The game is definately a step ahead of the competition, and even though ME doesn't focus on weapons, I'm really hoping for DICE to license their engine to other developers that will incorporate both the parkour elements and shooting.

So, I haven't picked up a game on release day since Metroid Prime 2 back in 2004 -- if I want to get the game ASAP, what's my best bet? Stop by a GameStop? Amazon?

Did Breakdown?

The answer, sadly, is no.

I sure hope so, though.

I played the Xbox 360 demo, to compare the Playstation 3 one to it.

What the Hell did they do to the color in the 360 version? I hope the final version isn't like that.

I knew I wasn't going bat shit insane. The 360 version's colours look just plain... different. The bright oranges look yellow, the reds are duller and the world seems to have more of a white glow to it (bloom-lighting?).

breakdown, while INCREDIBLY AWESOME overall, was heavily flawed in several key ways. this, is not. i really hope we see a lot more attempts at the first person platformer after ME hits. it just feels so right.

can you match the look you want using the ingame contrast and brightness tools?

It's like they added a gray filter to it, or something. The whites in the 360 version overpower everything else. This doesn't apply to just the game itself, though. The dullness is present in the menus and in the intro video. Also, the video in the 360 version has artifacts in it. Very weird.

That's the odd thing, you can't. You can make one color look similar to the PS3 version (for instance, make an orange wall look orange instead of yellow, or make the red slightly more vibrant) but it totally fucks up the look of everything else. The white glow is unchangable.

i've noticed a bit of a nit pick i have with the 360 demo where every now and then the game seems to have trouble adjusting the "white glow" (the effect of over brightness when first going from somewhere darker to the bright outside) and for no apparent reason everything is washed out in white for an unnatural amount of time. if you know what i'm talking about, is that in the ps3 version as well?

What you just mentioned is absent in the Playstation 3 version.

I didn't think the bright orange looked yellow.

i think its contra productive to limit the features of a demo for people who havent made up there mind and give people who allready preordered the game a extended demo. but like i said earlyer the game is much fun and i cant wait for next week!

its a way to encourage people who liked the demo to preorder, ensuring a sale. but yeah, its strange that they would take out a feature that should prove to be the real "meat" of the experience.

The only concern I have about this game (and pretty much all other SP-only games save for RPGs) is length and replayability. If this is like an 8 hour game, is that worth my 60 bucks when I could just rent it at Blockbuster for 9 dollars and beat it in 4-5 days? There's so many other games to buy and games that I've bought already recently. I loved the demo but I dunno if it's worth it.

What feature are you guys talking about?

I downloaded the demo on both ps3 / 360 and found ps3's colors richer and the contrast isn't as overblown which gives it more of a 3D feel, also if you look at the ground textures on both you can see more details on ps3 version regardless of tv / in game brightness / contrast settings. the only negative against ps3's is that the jaggies are a bit more intrusive as if its running in a slightly lower resolution. also there is a few occasions where the ps3 ver loses vsync which causes some screen tearing.

Tough call on which version I would buy, judging from the demo I really liked the way it looks on PS3 but the jaggies are a bit annoying. Pro's and Cons on both systems.

Game itself is pretty interesting I had fun after going through the demo a few times, especially after getting used to the controls.

Before you make the jump to the pipes, there is orange and yellow orange. That's why I'm confused at people saying the orange looks yellow...there's orange and yellow-orange in the game. They're clearly different colors.
