Scott Boras giveth and taketh away. He fucked us over with Mark Appel.

New bs rules fucked us over. We would of given Appel the money if the bs new cap was gone away.

Also its funny Cole passed on the Yanks considering he grew up a fan of them

The Diamondbacks have avoided arbitration with Gerardo Parra, agreeing on a 1-year, $2.35 million contract.

The Diamondbacks have no more pending cases and now have $82,165,000 committed to 2013.

Yeah, the one area we weren't cheap motherfuckers within :|

At least we have two first round picks in the top 14 now.

Bright future ahead for Detroit. Our best prospect is being blocked at his natural position, and our second best prospect (not in the top 100) would be competing for the same spot.

Surprised Rondon didn't crack the top 100. Hoping all goes well in ST and he assumes the closer role.

No Delmon, Inge, Raburn, or Valverde in 2013. Should be a good year

Is V-Mart supposed to be ready for ST?

Fuck. I really hope Carp isn't done.

But, if he is, we have the arms ready. But damn, he was just at the Winter Warmup and said he feels good.

Which Royals-age goof is this! Step forward you bum. Btdubbs Your postseason drought is 7 years longer than the Pirates!

Heh. Not only that, the Royals 27 year postseason drought is 14 years longer than the Buffalo Bills who hold the record in the NFL, 19 years longer than the Minnesota Timberwolves who are the longest without a playoff appearance in the NBA, and 20 years longer than the Toronto Maple Leafs who have been postseason MIA the longest in the NHL. The Royals had been out of the playoffs for 8 years when Major League Soccer was founded.

So, literally, every single team in every major professional have gone to the postseason since the Royals last did.

BUT... the Pirates are next on the list.

I'm not sure if he'll be ready when ST starts but last I heard he's been cleared to run bases and has been taking swings for about a month and a half. His catching days are over, but I think he'll be able to fill in DH / pinch hit and be ready when the season starts. Kind of concerning it's taken him so long to get to this point. The tear was serious, but the prognosis for his return kept getting pushed back from midseason 2012, to september, to the postseason, to hopefully by opening day 2013.

Sounds like the perfect Tigers second baseman.

Hope he can find a way to be an everyday. Love his bat.

Mets owners wanted to open casino next to ballpark:

The owners of the New York Mets reportedly wanted to take a gamble on owning a casino next to Citi Field, the home of their major league club.

Sterling Equities, the real estate company operated by Mets owner Fred Wilpon and family, pitched a casino adjacent to the major league stadium in September 2011 and offered the City of New York $100 million to acquire 62 acres for the site, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Sterling Equities even lined up the Shinnecock Indian nation to operate the casino, but a live-dealer casino is not legal in New York except on tribal lands, making it infeasible at that point, according to the report.

Sterling Equities was instead given 23 of the 62 requested acres in June to construct a $3 billion entertainment complex -- minus the casino.

"An initial concept submitted two years ago floated the possibility of Indian gaming and was dismissed by the city," read a statement from the Queens Development Group --- the joint venture between Sterling Equities and related companies.

"Our plans for Willets Point DO NOT include an Indian or commercial casino, which is illegal. Even if it were legal, it would not be allowed under the environmental process we are undertaking and our agreement with the City prohibits this use.

"The $3 billion investment we are making in Willets Point will clean up land that has experienced a century of environmental contamination and will result in a mixed-use community that will create thousands of jobs, affordable housing and significant economic activity for the area."

The pitch for the casino was being delivered during the height of the Mets owners' financial troubles related to Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme. The owners since have favorably settled a lawsuit that sought to recover funds from them for allegedly profiting from the Ponzi scheme.

The Mets declined to comment on the casino report.

Well, my post is about current playoff droughts.

That's the list of historical droughts, which I almost included too, actually... The Royals non-playoff streak beats all of those, as well, in the NFL, NBA, and NHL. There HAVE been MLB teams who have had playoffs droughts longer than the Royals' 27 years, but that's it. No current ones in any sport, and no historical ones in any sport besides MLB.

Pirates will, we're so awesome at losing. Soon to be 21 years of under .500 seasons. Can your Royals say that! I think not.

Manny Ramirez may be coming back!!!!!

..to the EDA Rhinos of Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League.

Whaaa...

Why can't someone just sign him for peanuts? MARINERS

- In 2005, a yearlong investigation by prosecutor Hsu Wei-Yueh into a gambling scandal involving players paid in cash or sexual services to throw games was derailed when Hsu himself was arrested and sentenced for his part in a bribery scandal.

Maybe the Mets weren't really that bad this whole time!
