Just had a quick blast at this, the loading times are a disgrace.

I also think the mod spot is a nice idea but it overly convolutes things and surely helps contribute to those loading times. Jumping into an online game on Mario Kart is quick and easy, on this its a relative pain in the arse. I suppose they felt they had to do this to allow people to talk to one another and add each other as friends, to meet and organise races as groups... but I just think its getting in the way.

On the plus side - I never imagined in a million years that a racing game track editor could be so nicely done and so robust. Considering they've made the Little Big Planet of kart racers here, I'd like to see them have a crack at the platforming stuff and stuff in other genres... I certainly like their work so far more than I do MediaMolecules

The game has some sort of 24h protection.. meaning, if the original account logs into the game, the other that shared won't be able online in the game. You can still create tracks and race them offline, but you can't publish any of them nor see leaderboards, race online, etc.

I'm having problems with this game server.. several times I can't log into the system, I have to quit the game then go back on to be able to log online. The download belongs to my account and all. Have anyone had the same sort of problem?

The basic mechanics seem really streamlined, but the cruddy framerate, looooong load times and overal choppyness hamper the experience. Thank god it's a beta!

Creation is really deep, and the racing feels great. Good stuff United Front Games. Good stuff!

haven't tried the create part, but after two races i'm ready to never touch it again ..handling is just aweful. yuck. do not like it at all.

why do i make such sharp turns with just normal stick stering? .. lame. thats what handbreak and power slides are for.

Looks like it doesn't work, and after the first attempt it doesn't appear in my "tracks to upload" list. Does it works? Any hint?

The core game is good and the track editor is a lot of fun. The major downside in the beta so far is the performance. 20fps is not acceptable in a racing game.

I think this game would really hit it home for me if it only made a few adjustments:
- Please for the love of all that is gaming, add some more scenery/weapon variety. I want to make weird flashy space tracks on the planet Saturn. I want to be able to race buddies inside a volcano. I'm hoping there's more than what we've seen because so far, a desert and a grass plain are extremely boring and not very deep.
- If you're going to completely ignore water physics, at least let me make underwater kart-racing levels.
- Weapons need to be more creative. Missiles? Okay. That's only been used in every kart racer since the 90's.
- Framerate needs to be 30fps or above at all times, please.
- Camera needs to be farther away from the player. It's too close up :l
