For what it's worth about season 6 I feel like many of the "best" episodes of the season are a lot more polarizing then usual. Going off the results of a reddit survey I linked a few pages back the top 10 most liked for the season was (In order) To Where and Back Again, Saddle Row Review, No Second Prances, Hearth's Warming Tail, Stranger Than Fan Fiction, Gauntlet of Fire, Top Bolt, Dungeons and Discords, Every Little Thing She Does, and The Times They Are a Changeling. And despite them being generally very popular episodes overall (Based off not just this reddit survey but also many ones done on EQD) I've seen a lot of disdain for pretty much all the Starlight episodes besides No Second Prances as well as Stranger Than Fan Fiction and Dungeons and Discords, which might put people off due to their slightly more adult style of humor as well as the potential unlikability of the main characters. I think the main reason why Season 6 has such mixed reactions is that
A: It's coming off what many consider to be the best season yet. Comparisons are going to be made and it's got tough competition.
B: A lot of the "best" episodes of the season are ones are very polarizing for various. (And there's nothing wrong with not liking them. Just saying that a lot of these episodes have a fairly large share of detractors)
C: A lot of the people that don't like things are a lot louder then the ones that do. (Look at the top 5 or so comments of pretty much any poll result on EQD that directly pertains to the show and you'll see what I mean)
Anyway, moving on to some news. First up, Season 7 is confirmed to premier on April 15th, when they'll show off the opening 2-parter. Still no news on what it will actually be about though.

Up next, the next in G.M. Berrow's (Writer of The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows and 2 upcoming episodes for season 7) short novel series titled "Trixie and the Razzle Dazzle Ruse" dropped today. If you haven't been checking out the series I would highly recommend it. Berrow has an extremely good grasp on the show's characters and is extremely adept at writing books that feel like episodes of the show. Although the books are primarily aimed at children they don't talk down to them and can still be enjoyed by just about anyone that likes the show. The one released today primarily focuses on Trixie as you can probably guess by the title. What the blurb perplexingly leaves out is that Starlight plays a major role in the story, as would be expected given that her and Trixie are good friends. (She's really only second to Trixie herself in terms of importance to this story) Another thing that I feel is a bit misleading about the blurb is Twilight is also mentioned as being important but is barely in the book. The story makes references to not only the show (The book's released date was pushed back several times, presumably to make sure it was enough time past the Season 6 finale) but also to her previous book "Starlight Glimmer and the Secret Suite." If the description of the book series has interested you so far I would recommend checking that one out first as not only does it sort of serve as a prequel to this one but I also think it's a bit better as well. (And I know what you're thinking. It's not JUST because Starlight is the main character that I think it's better) That's not to say this one is bad per say, just that I thought Secret Suite was a 9/10 and this one was more of a 7/10. If there's one major issue I have with this book is that near the end of the story Trixie kinda takes a back seat to Starlight, Rarity, and Twilight trying to figure out how to solve the problem. She doesn't contribute to the solution in any way and moreover I don't feel like she really learned anything through the experience either. There's a couple other minor issues I had with it but I don't want to discourage anyone from checking it out. It is definitely still worth the read and I would highly recommend it and the rest of Berrow's catalogue to anyone that is looking for more Pony to hold them over until the next season starts.
Lastly, the MLP: Deviations comic was released today as well. I definitely had a lot of fun with this one. If you were expecting a remotely serious story I apologize to you in advance as you won't find one here. Personally I think they went a bit too far in making Prince Blueblood awful. I feel like he was great at the beginning but seeing him act equally awful through the whole comic was a bit much, and although this is definitely a weird thing to complain about I feel like there wasn't enough variety in his horribleness. All that being said it was definitely laugh-out-loud funny to me at points and I feel like Nightmare Moon stole the show. On the outset the comic never takes itself seriously and that definitely helps sell the whole affair to me. I'd give it a 7/10.
