Neo Galactic Adventure Force (Elite-GAF) Thread

Noticed a strange tweak in who gives you the missions; I was being offered missions by both HDS 123 and HDS 123 Operations Overseer (or something like that). Gotta log off for now, but will be back to do some more GAF missions later!

Hmm, so how come when i search for neo galactic adventure force, it finds nothing in groups ?

You mean a private group? That's a different thing. We could create a private group but I believe in the application it was stated that we would primarily play in Open.

When Supercruise kicks in and you see under 5% hull, those moments are so tense.

So I did a few bulletin board missions for our faction. Are we still 69% influence? I wonder how much effort it takes for a group our size to push that needle forward.

We gotta put in work! Ran some missions last night but was too low rep for the vast majority :(

EDIT: Wait, isn't every faction in your screen losing influence...? Bug?

Hey guys, just made my way to Apam Napat to join you all. CMDR Lucen Tarken reporting in, please don't blow my Vulture up :)

How do I gain allied status with your faction?

The original was >100% total. This seems to be a correction. We are the most influential but we need more!

That's what I thought, but right now the total is ~96% and it still shows everyone losing influence. Weird.

We don't have a black market :(

For whatever reason Majida is now an anarchy station, anything goes I guess?

Thanks a lot! I only managed to log in once and didn't get to play much Elite since...

Mh, where can we see this faction description? That's Frontier's narration, not ours I believe? Although we can of course run with it. ;)

My personal goal is to gain a Sol permit. That's why I'm sticking around in Federal space so far. Once I have that, I'll be relocating to Apam Napat.

same as with every faction grind jobs :(

though I've noticed piratey jobs get better reputation with our faction...

not for selling stolen goods that aren't listed on the commodities market...

Yeah, I noticed that this weekend. I took a break from mining up around Neville Horizons for the Pleiads Station CG and flew back down to Apam Napat to do a bit of bounty hunting. Last week I went hunting wanted ships in Apam Napat and everything was normal, but on Saturday the our system was now an anarchy system where every ship is now considered lawless, so I had to kill warrant scan every ship to determine if they had bounties on them or not. Not sure what happened but it seems like Apam Napat is in some turmoil.

went that way as soon as we were added to the pot, surprised no one noticed.

Has to be a bug. No reason for the system to be lawless. It's still Empire controlled last I checked last night.

I've been bounty hunting in Othel near by because metallic rings cause hitches for me, so I only noticed that ships were lawless when I came back for bulletin board missions.

Yeah, the lawless thing is weird as fuck.

I checked yesterday and NeoGAF was at 55% influence, in a BOOM state, and rising.

I'm also getting damned frustrated that every time I check, there are barely any NeoGAF missions that I can get because I'm still low rank, and even then, there haven't been many compared to other factions. There are supposed to be more missions for the more dominant faction, dammit.

Yep, I keep looking too, and the only available NeoGAF missions I keep seeing are pirating ones, and even those are few are far in between. I wonder if the state of anarchy has something to do with it?

Shouldn't hunting and handing in bounties for the NeoGAF faction help with both, standing of/reputation with the faction and the stability of the system? On the other hand: iirc selling illegal goods/smuggling destabilizes a system, doesn't it?

Cross-posting from the ED thread:

Anyone listens to Radio Sidewinder?

http://www.radiosidewinder.com/

I have been playing it for the last two hours while playing the game and it gets you into the universe so much more, it's pretty great. Right now I have it playing on my iphone sitting next to the thruster but I would like to be able to use a button from my HOTAS to turn the stream on and off. They have a bunch of advertising for in-universe stuff, as well as factions and things, also random jingles, public service announcements, music (usually 1 song or 2, with ads and PSAs in between) and galnet news reading. The overall quality is pretty good, but the reason I'm posting here is because we could put an ad (from 30secs to 1:30 min) for the GAF faction.

http://www.radiosidewinder.com/advertise/

They have a few rules, but all make sense and are reasonable. What do you guys think? I think it would be pretty cool to be flying around and listening to some advertising for Neo Galactic Adventure Force! We have lots of people with nice voice here on GAF, though I don't know if any is into this game. Some nice voice, cool public domain music (or we make something that becomes public domain, anyway) and maybe a couple version of the ad (shorter and longer) and let the guy managing to decide and/or play both at different timings could be neat.

What do you guys think?

I like listening to radio sidewinder while playing on occasion, I think this is a great idea. The only issue is getting someone to do it.

I've not heard of Radio Sidewinder (mainly I just listen to my "Space Game" playlist on Spotify), but this sounds pretty awesome. If anything, thanks for making me aware of it!

Not been on Elite for a few weeks due to life and Fallout 4, but will be making a return now I've got some time off (and hopefully enough spare cash to get Horizons!)

I see this thread's gone pretty quiet! Shall we kick it off again?

Yeah, we are all talking in all of the other Elite threads, we have quite a few now!

I was in Apam Napat last night switching to my Vulture to do a little bounty hunting, and I noticed that our system is still in Anarchy, every ship flying around is flagged as "lawless". Is there a power struggle or civil war or something happening in Apam Napat? If so we need to find a way to end it, I'd like to bounty hunt at our Nav Beacon but it's difficult when every single ship is marked as "lawless".

Horizon's has fixed the metallic ring stutter, so when it releases I can finally comfortable do bounty hunting in Apam Napat. Also, there are a lot of planets to land on and at least one star port to land at and 4-5 settlements I think.

This thread is pretty much asleep, but let's see what use this will have. ;)

Something good I bet, the logo is damn good looking.

As for this thread being dead I think its mostly cause the whole reputation system is not really fleshed out in the game yet so there really is no incentive in growing the faction just yet. Sounds like they will be improving that aspect. I.e as the group grows the members receive a cut of the profits that is made (just an idea).

Mengy

We need to get our system Apam Napat out of anarchy, currently everything is lawless flying around in there. From what I've read we can't actually grow our faction until the civil war is settled. Problem is I don't know how to do that. I did a bunch of missions some time ago for our faction hoping it would settle things but it didn't seem to have any effect, so I'm clueless.

And now I'm on a half year exploration voyage, so I won't even see a space station until the summer!

I'm still around Apam Napat (feels like home now!) so if anyone finds out what to do in order for us to retake control of the system I'll pitch in.

In the mean time, if any of you in Open see me, say hi!

Not sure how it happend but we are now also in the neighboring Lorden system (actually have the highest influence there as well).

From what I understand apam napat has or used to have some decent extraction zones so maybe random people have been turning in bounties there and are growing the faction.

Edit; sorry, we actually have the second highest influence at Lorden.

I thought influence was by completing missions for the faction? Ah here...

Here's a list showing what generates influence with a specific faction. Trading might raise the influence more than missions given that the player has a large cargo.[citation needed] The missions on the Bulletin Board vary in effects by completing them, some missions with alternative routes may give the opposite results.

To increase a faction's influence players should focus on performing the following tasks:

Completing missions for a faction,
Trading with faction owned stations or outposts,
Turning in bounty vouchers,[9]
Turning in combat bonds and,[10]
Selling exploration data,[11]
For those wanting to get a minority faction into power there's a valid strategy to decrease the influence of the leading faction by performing any actions from the following list:

Completing a mission's alternate option given through Unidentified Signal Sources
Abandoning or failing missions accepted from a specific faction
Doing charity missions (this shows the faction is weak to the other factions)[citation needed]
Unlike regular missions, Charity Missions denote that a faction is weak compared to other factions and require donations. These missions are denoted by a hand icon with a medical cross and often reward reputation gains but no monetary reward.

Bounty Hunting within a system will reward influence to the controlling faction. This is good if you're attempting to strengthen the dominant faction within a system. However, if you're attempting to improve the influence of a smaller party this will prove to work against you.

some heavier reading on faction building.

Wow, really? Maybe all of those missions I did actually had some effect afterall, LOL!

Yeah, I turned in a lot of exploration data to Apam Napat too, wonder if that had something to do with it...

Spend all day today doing missions for the faction, hopefully it helps a bit. Doesn't look like the system is in anarchy anymore either.

I've received an email from frontier in regard to a new initiative that they are planning to have in the future, see below.

Galactic Academy

We’ve been considering a new initiative to help and support new users into the game. The program is called the Galactic Academy and the aim is to support new players into the basis of the game and find a community that’s right for them.

The initial thought process is to have a new user team speak and a set of Ambassador/Tutors that help support these players into the game. Showing the real basics such as landing ships, using the galaxy map and so on. In addition we would like to consider this an opportunity to have prominent groups have recruitment officers in the chat too, allowing players to find a group to get involved in. As I’m sure we will all agree playing with a group of other players can really expand the experience for a lot of players. We would like to also connect people with the player made and official tutorials. ESS have been running a Galactic Academy as a division of their group for a while and have kindly offered to support the program and we’d love it if more groups and individuals were able to help too.

I’m hoping to have this go out to all new and inexperienced players and continue to be an ongoing project, meaning all new players to the game will get an invitation to join in. Hopefully this will be a really great way to help find new community members for your groups too.

In addition to this we are considering further “Specialists” in specific areas to help people learn the ropes. For example, Powerplay, Minor factions/BGS/ Trading, PVP etc. However, this is likely to come at a second phase.

If you would like to register your interest to be a part of the program when we launch then please reply back to me directly with the email addresses of the people that would like to take part (personal emails), commander names and any other details. For example, would you like to be an ambassador/tutor, a specialist, offer recruitment officers or help the initiative in some other way. Let us know, and we will be back in touch with more information shortly.

Not sure how this is gonna work but if you are interested in being an ambassador for any of the above positions let me know and i'll have the info forwarded to Frontier (pm me as they do ask for your personal emails).

Also it seems like frontier is working on fleshing out the factions portion of the game quite a bit in the near future but I cant really get into it too much detail as it is 'super secret'. Just want it to give you guys a heads up.

I only left the region because I've been training some friends how to play and helping them make some money to get into semi decent ships. I'll be back to Apam Napat! Get some civil order in there, it's an embarrassment to the Empire. Lawless! Come on!

Was doing a few missions in apam napat yesterday and looks like the influence went up by 1% from 46 to 47%.

Edit: does anyone actually know why our system is in Anarchy when the leading minor faction is aligned with the Empire?

It won't have anything to do with this part of our description, would it?

What started out as a government bound association grew into an independent organization however. In 3296 the Galactic Adventure Force's leaders decided that it had distanced itself too far from the government, took up the name Neo Galactic Adventure Force and declared its independence.

Hmm, it could be. Been reading up on this a little bit and looks like out faction in Apam Napat is currently in BOOM state. Below is what I found on the official elite forums.

Boom: We haven't found a truly useful purpose for boom yet; however, some player groups suspect that in can be used to upgrade your shipyard and outfitting, though I haven't seen conclusive evidence for this. The readily apparent effect that Boom does have is on the commodity market, boosting profits by about ten percent. As profit is made from this boost, it subtracts from a "Boom Value" and once that is spent the boom will end, otherwise the Boom can last up to 4 weeks. While this lasts, trade missions and actions contribute twice as much to influence change in the system.
When in boom, the wealth of a system is increased for the duration and all trade missions have double the effect on influence. Boom can also positively increase a minor faction's influence. Boom can be entered by consistent trade profits and completed trade contracts. Booms tend to last until they naturally expire or until some other indicator takes precedence, such as famine.

From what I can work out we control the system as we control the main (control) station Majida, but Langley hub and Fan platform are controlled by Apam Napat empire assembly. The way to gain control of the control station is take control of the other stations in a system through influence which then allows you to influence the control station, as the others are not in our control it would hint at our system is being contested thus anachy.

Does that make sense?

Blimey, I didn't know this thread existed or that there were player created factions in the game. I'm running missions in Empire space anyway, so I'll relocate here.

Sounds good, its a good looking system. Try not to do any missions for Apam Napat Empire Assembly (even tho they are imperial). They control the other two stations in the system so it might be counter effective to the NeoGAF group.

We are currently sitting at 47.7% influence in the system and they are at 10.4% (and going down).
