Rofl, dude, read my review here: http://kayos90.blogspot.com/2012/03/tales-of-grace-f-import-review.html
It answers almost all your questions.
Yeah, thanks. That helped lol. Good review.

Thanks. Others were not so kind. Rofl.
Fuck them. You spoke the truth and it's not your fault that a 7 (which I consider to be relatively good) is considered a bad score in this day and age.
Is that the one with Claire?DarkSchala said:Tales of Rebirth has the worst narrative in the series, but it has the best 2D LMBS next to ToDr.
Seriously. Rebirth's story is lol.
Pretty sure that the majority of people didn't even look at the number when taking issue, but all righty.
Thanks. Others were not so kind. Rofl.
You literally use rofl in EVERY post. It's so distracting.
But anyway, your review is pretty informative, not exactly sure what the issue is. Only thing I disagree with is the whole "archaic" thing. I mean, that's a very sensitive word to use in the first place. Second, I have not played the game, but I can't see where you're coming from. Partly because I have no clue what you mean by "archaic." And then because most of the elements you mentioned in the review and that I know of the game would hardly constitute as "archaic." But again, I have no idea what your definition of the word is. A game being three years old hardly warrants being called "archaic" though.
Just a disclaimer, if you or any other posters discussed anything in my post, I apologize. I just read the review and now posted the reply, sorry if you've already addressed this.
Mmhmm; it's too hard for me to dislike Veigue's VA since he's Link. To be honest, I don't find the characterization or character interactions sub-par; I think they're pretty good. And I love 3L-LMBS to bits.
Perhaps it would have been better to write 'old-fashioned' as opposed to 'archaic' in hindsight. I know what you're trying to say, but archaic has a negative connotation (ie: outdated, bad), and thus people will think of it with a negative spin.Anyway, it seems like the archaic is the thing that a lot of people either disagree about or just flat out discuss. Anyway, I'm not saying the game is archaic. Certain mechanics or tidbits of the game is archaic. And 3 years I think is sort of long time in video game terms.

Sorry, it's a habit that I type in rofl. Instead of lol, rofl comes out easier to type. <i was about to type rofl just now>. Also, thank you for the comments. I appreciate it.
Because I enjoyed the game quite a bit, I didn't feel like the plat was much of a chore despite being a bit of a grind. I had lots of fun doing it. I remember complaining a lot while I was doing FFXIII's plat, lol.
I think we're going to get along well. I loved ToR from a battle/ability standpoint because it was so gosh darn fun. The game looked fantastic as well. And on Rebirth, I can't understand Japanese so the plot affected me not at all, but God, the battle system and gameplay systems were so GOOD. The battles are probably the most fun of any Tales game I've played, with Vesperia being the only reasonable competition IMO. Not to mention the fact that with the exception of Annie, every character was a blast to play.
Well, just OoT/MM Adult Link/Fierce Deity Link/Zora Link.Blew. My. Mind.
I never got Vesperia's platinum. I didn't have the patience for it.so basically, I just have to complete all sidequests for the platinum? Looks like I might go for 2 playthroughs this time compared to the annoying speedrun, low level challenger, and the secret missions of Vesperia. That took me 3 months and its the first game I ever had 100% achievements. Still bitching at Secret Mission 17!
So, from reading a majority of these posts, the story is more "meh" than terrible, right? I can put up with a vanilla storyline but I don't have the patience to deal with absolute shit anymore (can't fathom how I managed to get through Star Ocean IV).
As a sidenote, I'm currently playing Tales of Vesperia, about to fight the final boss, and it feels like they missed a big opportunity story wise to take the story in a more interesting direction for the final act.
Are you talking about Vesperia? It definitely felt like it should have ended 2/3 of the way through, with the way character development for Yuri completely gets swept under the rug and forgotten for the final act.Story should've ended at the end of the 2/3 game. Rofl.
So this game doesn't have a world map in the same sense as past Tales games and is more linear like FFX, correct? That's a little disappointing, but I'll deal with it, I suppose.

My 3 favourite systems in Tales are:
- SS-LMBS (Graces)
- 3L-LMBS (Rebirth)
- AR-LMBS (ToDr)
...so I guess I like Team Destiny-designed systems more. They feel so good to play around and try to combo with.
I really like Tales of Rebirth. In fact... (sad that the images are broken)
That wasn't really all that long ago, either. Fact is that even though I had played most of the Tales releases ever since Phantasia, and tried very hard to like them due to my sister's fanatical enthusiasm for them, I never really appreciated them until something "clicked" in my mind while playing Vesperia. And then I went back and found something to love in every single one, including Rebirth as shown above. Though actually, I think I was doing Rebirth before Vesperia according to the date on that post. Wow, wait... maybe it was Rebirth that turned me around on Tales and not Vesperia.
Thought the OT will be up by today.
I just wanted to mention that the US boxart for this game looks great. I just saw it on Amazon.
Am I going to regret not going with a Gamestop pre-order for the bonuses, or should I just get it on Amazon to avoid the tax and hassle?
If you have no transportation then get release day from amazon. If you have the means to go to gamestop then get it from there.

kurea kurea kurea kurea..
kureaaaaaa!
<_>
I'm actually more excited for Graces than Xillia. Just seems alot more interesting to me.
Edit: Just my opinion though. I mean, I value Symphonia over Vesperia, so what do I know? Also, Rebirth was kind of =/
I just hope this doesnt have skits litrally every five steps. I made it farther in Abyss 3D and having so many skits has gotten to be both humorous and annoying.

You can always skip them if you don't enjoy them?
Graces is generally a bit lighter on skits than other Team Destiny games, probably more in line with Symphonia games in general. TD games used to go quite a bit overboard, and would often have several skits that said exactly the same thing ("Let's go to the next destination! That's over that mountain, right?!").
Yeah. Graces has 310 skits, Vesperia had 419.Well they're meant to help/reinforce the player. It seems in general Tales games have lightened up on the fat when it comes to skits. Rebirth probably had the record on that though. On average now though, its like 450-600 at most for any Tales game? Meanwhile Rebirth I think was in the 1000s or something.

1000+? What the hell?! So much voicework. I'm glad Graces is light on the skits. Sure there are the dumb ones. I usually like the ones that build characters.
Graces had that much? Maybe it's because I didn't get them or something. I remember the amount being smaller.
