Nicolas Cage will star in new Left Behind film

The poster makes it look like it's a survival thriller where Cage's plane crashes in the desert and he's left alone to his own devices as he's the only survivor.

If you look closely, you can see that he is actually walking on water.
I think... it's hard to tell, but I wouldn't be surprised given the movie's subject matter.

Totally wronger about Nintendo's business decisions.
Is this supposed to be a comedy or something? That clip is weird. And why is the article so insanely salty? I don't get it.

No. It's a serious take on what many Christians think will happen after the rapture. You know, where True Christians are taken by god (teleported to heaven) which results in chaos and mayhem for the ones....Left Behind.

BTW, history is so weird. The Book of Revelation was pretty much a stand-out from the rest of the books. And there were lots of similar Apocalypse books out but none of them got accepted as canon.

But for some unknown reason, the odd Book of Revelation got accepted as canon and now we get a Nic Cage movie about planes crashing because their pilots vanish.

What's really weird is that the idea of the rapture is not stated anywhere in the bible. And most of the verses that are used to point at it's existence aren't even in Revelation.

My pseudonym should be "AuthenticMMM", for Mere Male Mortal, which I am. :)

Seriously though, I thought she was a pornstar, and found it weird that she would star in this, considering who's making it and who it is for. :/

So Nicolas Cage in a terrible disaster porn flick with heavy-handed Christian overtones.

For what it's worth, Vic Armstrong's biggest claim to fame is being a stunt double for Harrison Ford. He's directed four things according to IMDb; this, a movie in the 90s called "Army of One" and two Young Indiana Jones episodes.

Guess nobody else wanted to touch it.

I though 2013 was the year of Nic Cage making a serious comeback.

Why would he throw some cred away for this?

My understanding is that Nic Cage's financials are so bad (relating to some tax stuff) that he basically cannot legally refuse work or else he gets thrown in jail.

So my Kickstarter is a crowd-sourced-plot film, with 50-75% of the KS funds going to Nic Cage, forcing him to make my movie.

Didn't Kirk Cameron star in a made for tv version of this?

Edit: I like Nic Cage, but I hope this bombs like Atlas Shrugged

Several of them I think...right?

They did 3 movies before this, and they were not very good. The writers apparently hated them. Wonder what they think of this new adaptation...

The book series is really long. I wonder if they will take it all the way

The books are not that long, and a few of them take place chronologically over only a few days, so if they really wanted to go all out, they could probably combine a few of the books together.

They should have cast Cage as the Antichrist and let him go all out with a bad Eastern European accent...

Shame that the Nostalgia Critic already did his Nick Cage month.

I’ve always liked the Left Behind series. As long as you go in expecting the writing quality and the respect for the source material to be on par with a Star Wars EU novel, there’s a lot of entertainment to be found in that series.

i have to admit i have a strange fascination with the left behind series. i wasted at least a half a day at work once reading the plot and wondering how the hell this became so popular

will watch

I found the books enjoyable. The 3 prequel books they did were terrible though.

Never read those. I also didn’t read the book set after Glorious Appearing . Seemed kinda pointless. After spending 1000 years with Jesus Christ as your next door neighbor, how could anyone possibly be tempted by Satan ever again? Its no longer a question of faith at that point. Jesus is right there. He is literally your homeboy. Turn you back on him at that point and you’re just begging for the lake of fire.

Can anyone who has read the books let me know if Cage's character ends up being God? It's the only way this movie will work for me.

No. But he does try to shoot the Anti-Christ in the head with a high-powered pistol, only to be outdone by a old, crippled Jewish scientist using a sword.

So there’s that.

Cosigned.

They're surprisingly fun. I stopped reading at book six though, I need to go back and finish them off.

I kinda want to see this.

There was only 1 book for the sequel. It was kind of meh. There was one nice story in it though with Abdullah.

I read like, the first 9 or 10 of those books when I was in college. I wasn't religious at all and still am not, but they are really entertaining. If there were some way to edit out all the obvious preachy stuff that's meant to talk directly to the audience about how they need to accept Jesus and blah blah blah, it would actually be awesome.

Still... the plotlines they came up with in that series were actually pretty cool. Characters weren't half bad either.
