Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
art of balance must be the most stylish and visually adept game released on wiiware yet. it's also a big 'fuck you' from shin'en to all the retail 'bu..bu..but it's wii!' garbage of the sort of tony hawk: ryde that does not even bother to draw a shadow underneath your character and thus deprives the player of elementary ground-contact perception when skating in 3rd person.

NINTENDO DOWNLOAD: WHETHER AT HOME OR OUT AND ABOUT, NINTENDO'S DOWNLOADS MAKE FOR GREAT FUN

Let's say you're relaxing at home, but something doesn't seem quite right. Maybe your house has ghosts. Clearly you need to get GhostSlayer, with its Wii MotionPlus™ accessory functionality, to figure out how to deal with them. Or maybe your house has a mouse. Mouse House™ puzzles seem the logical choice for you. Maybe you just need to get out of the house and try some fresh air with Family Go-Kart Racing. If it seems a bit brighter than usual outdoors, that's probably because Aura-Aura, the star of Aura-Aura Climber™, has fallen out of the sky. While you're out having fun, take and share some crazy pictures of your friends and family with Faceez, or spend a few relaxing hours directing flights with Flight Control™. And while you're out there, you might want to spend some time helping a little boy recover his lost pet goldfish, Flipper.

another 200 point nintendo-published dsiware game with absolutely no information available about it pre-release. aura aura climber just has a "(c) 2010 nintendo" tag, so i'm assuming it's either sufficiently outsourced that the developer doesn't get credit, or it's actually internally developed. visually looks a little odd, it's hard to tell what's going on in the two screenshots they've made available.

also mouse house doesn't look very good. ghost slayer looks like dreamcast level, and it's some kind of first-person brawler / slasher? family go kart has two 160x120 screenshots available. of course you can't see anything at that resolution, but it looks like poop regardless.

flipper appears to be the lone great-looking release this week

Flight Control seems pricey.

the game is really really excellent. but it's also 0.99 on its native platform, which has received about a half dozen free content updates, so paying five times as much for a port that isn't likely to be updated seems like a rip-off to me.

Also can I just say that the whole "get ready to super mario kart your ninja turtles with kirby in gameloftworld" title / lede paragraph format for their press releases continues to get stupider and stupider?

With a seemingly lackluster release list for WiiWare and DSiWare, you would think this would be a good time to release either Megaman 4 or Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for VC (or any VC game for that matter).

Tell that to Nintendo of Europe, they've released no VC games in FIVE weeks this year so far.

You say that now, but little do you know that they come up with the name of the press release first by pulling words from a hat, and then find game that go with the words.

What the fuck, where the fucking fuck is fucking Mega Man 4?
I preordered all the copies, so they are out of them to sell. You can buy one from me for $89.99 USD + Shipping. Yes, I do realize they are a downloadable game, but this does not change the facts.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
Flight Control is great, sure it's more than the iPhone version but still great fun.

Very interesting that they chose to withhold Mega Man 4. Not that it would be that unexpected for a null VC week since they have just Zaxxon, MM4, OB64 and CVX:RoB in the queue with maybe another Sunsoft title a little farther out. But I'm still somewhat expecting something about DD to come out of that media event this week. The rare no-VC week showing up on this of all weeks seems a little coincidental in any case. I do remember that Japan had no games the Tuesday the week VCA was announced.

Should be evident by tomorrow night if this is the case.

To be fair, they did that for a period last year, too, and back then they didn't have as much Wiiware content to fill in the gaps, either. At least there's quite a bit of Wiiware stuff coming out currently.

After the beginning of the blurb I skipped the rest, but 600 points for something to do with my MotionPlus that isn't Wii Sports Resort might be worth it.

I think I'll get this. If this is 1:1 and Red Steel 2 does the "make a motion, then we'll interpret it and do something on screen after you finish" from early reports, this could be the better sword game. :lol

CPS I and II on VCA would make me giddy.

This thread is as good as place as any I can figure to ask...

Does anyone know a good Metacritic like site for WiiWare and Virtual Console games? I just got a 2000 point card for a gift, and while I know 1000 of that is MM9, I'm trying to figure out where to spend the other 1000. So... many... good... choices...

Nintendolife is the only decent site out there. Many downloads don't ever see reviews from the big sites concerned with retail games. But if you have 2000 and want Mega Man 9 you might as well save the other 1000 for Mega Man 10 next week.

NintendoLife is great in that within a week of release they review every single VC and WiiWare and DSiWare game and almost no one else does. The problem is their reviews aren't particularly good by and large and they're all over the map score-wise. I use them more to get media and an overview of what a game is than actually paying attention to their criticism.

600 points.

Did they change Tournament of Legends to use Motion+? When it was first announced, they weren't going the Motion+ route with the game.

Edit:
Apparently not. From Stephen Totilo,

The game will not support MotionPlus despite earlier reports that it would. The High Voltage guys told me that's because it didn't make sense to offer more precise motion control for the right hand, while leaving the player's left hand with the default motion sensitivity of the Nunchuk.

Buy MM9 for 1000, then next week, buy MM10 for 1000.

What's the logic behind releasing NO VC game in a week? Surely there's a queue of games waiting to be released, and it's not like they're running out of games to put on it. Someone should press Nintendo on this issue one of these days.

It's not the end of the world, but how long are we supposed to wait to play certain rom dumps of old games we feel like playing?

I'm not talking about tournament of legends, i'm talking about rage of the gladiator, which does support M+, looks MUCH better than this, and will cost at most 1000 points.

Support for more hardware without the games to back it up? Yep that's VCA alright.

I think it's pretty clear at this point that if you want legal arcade emulator, VCA isn't going to be the place to get it in 2010.

Double dipping on Mega Man sounds good, but on the other hand, there are a lot of great virtual console games out there that I've never played that beg to be purchased... I'm eying Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Majora's Mask, and the eventual release of Ogre Battle 64 with particular envy. Being married and in school, I spend more time thinking about games than playing them :lol

Was hoping we'd get Mega Man 4, if only so Mega Man 5 can be next week. Only version of 5 I own is the meh PS2 anniversary collection.

Pociask, definitely do the Mega Man 9/10 double dip. With your next points card though, Super Metroid is the must buy.

Wow, Rage of the Gladiator has a far more appealing art style than Tournament of Legends. Has some pretty decent textures too aside from the ground...

No VC is completely unacceptable, unless they're planning something for the Media Summit on Thursday. Whatever it is, it better be good...

Absolutely awful week. Three meh-sounding DSiware games, four crappy looking WW shovelware titles with Cave Story still MIA, no VC game at all, not even a Mega Man game as lead in promotion for 10, no VCA when they haven't even uploaded Donkey Kong...I mean really. The mind boggles at how badly this service is managed sometimes.

It's amazing. Not just awesome!

Agreed, Mega Man 4 is still one of my faves in the series and I rank it closely with 2 and 3. Me and my brother saved for months to buy the cart back in '92 after renting it repeatedly. It's a bit easier but the weapon/difficulty balance is much better than 5 and 6, good level design, sweet mini boss animals (whales 'n snails, baby), fantastic soundtrack and it features some of the greatest Wily castle bosses ever, especially love this guy:

Oh and it has one of the finest ending squences in the series:
