Nintendo Downloads - May 2015

I'm also guessing both Castlevania games will turn up next Halloween, while we get the DS ones this year.

Legacy of Darkness contains Castlevania 64 as it's just an expanded version of that game with more stuff in it. I doubt they'd release both.

No it won't silly. It will be the european release with the music sped up to match the original. Nintendo cares avout vc quality!

I know it's a joke but please stop feeding into that nonsense about slower music.

F-Zero X will not be 50Hz because the game wasn't translated. Stop panicking.

Not sure why they make a big deal about the music being right in games when it was always the case anyway.

On Nintendo systems, anyway. The Mega Drive was another story entirely.

New themes for Europe this week:

Pretty sure those haven't been released in Japan yet. No doubt JoeM86 will correct me if I'm wrong :p

You're correct. Probably will be in Japan tomorrow night and the US Thursday

Edit: You could have poked me about this. I was too engrossed in Fullblox to notice the tweet :p

If that Shuffle one uses the Mega music, I'd go mad. It's all you hear 90% of the time when playing the game. Forget the stage music, every time you go Mega, WOOP, THERE IT IS.

Apparently if you buy Don't Starve before June 28th you get a free code for the game to give away? That's interesting.

Just preparing for the worst, breh. Shibata giveth, Shibata taketh.

Why don't more of you UK Gaffers just import U.S. consoles? The 50/60 MHz thing would drive me mad after awhile, don't know how you can stand it.

I'm sorry to make a dumb question, but how do you take 3DS screenshots again?
If the game doesn't support it in-game (games that do tend to be limited on where you can take screenshots) then you post on Miiverse.
Which means that if you don't have an NNID linked because being locked into one country sucks you are not worthy of posting screens.
If the game doesn't allow Miiverse screenshots (e.g. Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Kid Icarus, Mario and Luigi*) spend $200+ having a 3DS capture card installed.

Unless you mean the home menu in which case Y then follow the instructions on the top screen.

Maybe one day there will be a sensible screenshot function (in the 9.0 preview screens I had hoped that what it was rather than literally being only the home menu because people will buy themes if you show them off but not video games).

*-These last two are because some users are terrible. Kid Icarus has an AR mode (so someone posted porn, took them about 2 years to work that one out...) and Mario & Luigi had a weird framebuffer bug in v1.0 (people went nuts with animu spoilers, shrek in smash and cory in the house).

You can also post screenshots on Facebook, Twitter or tumblr with the Internet browser. It's also directly accessible through the home menu on the top left of the home screen.

I got it, but how do you make a post on Miiverse? How can I share those screenshots on Facebook, do they need to be posted on Miiverse first?

No, I mean you can post screenshots on Facebook, Twitter or tumblr WITHOUT using Miiverse. It's a link you can access on the 3DS browser, https://i.nintendo.net, you can also access this link from the Home button on the top left of the Home screen (the one that allows you to change themes), just scroll down.

This link works really well on Wii U, that's how I do screen captures. On 3DS it's not as reliable, sometimes it doesn't work, if so you have to go through Miiverse.

To post on Miiverse, you have to have an account, there are tons of guides online, and then it's pretty easy: press the Home button when you want to capture, go to Miiverse, and it'll even suggest to post the capture. Then you can access Miiverse on a computer/tablet here: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/, login, find your post, right click and save.

FYI: you can post screenshots of Mario and Luigi: Dream Team again. There was apparently a system update which fixed the framebuffer thing.

Does anyone know of Kirby and the Crystal Shards or Yoshi's Story were translated for their PAL releases?
They were (unless NOE are lying again like they were with Wave Race 64*) so yay more 50Hz shit for the N64.

*-In that case their lie was the opposite saying the game was English only when it is not.

edit: Thats what I get for adding words

Yoshi's Story was translated, yes. 100% sure. (just look at German box arts, they always have the yellow box saying "Deutscher Bildschirmtext" on it)

Kirby I don't know. It has a multilingual box art (Kirby was always a second-class citzen in EU).

Oh wait, I just forgot my own tip from a few weeks ago. Check emulator sites! And I just did that. No languages specified. Looks like it's English-only then.

Yoshi Story => PAL 50Hz
Kirby 64 => NTSC 60HZ

They were, yeah.

Are you sure (about Kirby)? I'm not trusting Nintendo's website right now :D

Checked some video, the game doesn't have any language options during boot up. Unless it's hidden under the options menu it really is English only.

Got an email from NOE saying that yes they listed Epic Yarn incorrectly and I'm entitled to a refund. They haven't updated the eshop description yet though.

Man, given Nintendo are getting 60 quid from me for Splatoon, you think I'd get that 3DS theme as a bonus.

yeah even if it was tied to the amiibos or something would be good (although I guess theres no way for them to do that at the moment).

The eShop and webpage info for Epic Yarn say you can use the GamePad as a controller. In fact, you can't.

So if you buy the game not knowing this you can ask for a refund? (but keep the game?) I was thinking about getting the game yesterday... mmmm hahaha (no, I won't try that, just curious about what happened ;D)

If it's anything like my refund of Myst on the 3DS eShop (also for erroneous listing), the game gets completely deleted from your account and system when the refund is issued.

Pretty sure they'd remotely delete it in that case

That's what I thought it would happen, thanks!

Anyway, still no PR about this week releases and sales? (besides the screenshots provided by Phazon)

Defintiely picking up the Splatoon theme. I'm assuming it'll hit NA this week too.

I've already got more themes than the random option can support, but I can't help myself. Still wish we could have Badge Center though.

I'm hoping Sega releases their hardware themes (they said something about licensing & such), because I would love to make use of the random option. But right now, it's just Famicom Memories thanks to a GAF member who kindly sent me a code.

& yeah, I still can't believe we haven't gotten Badge Center yet. It sounded like something we'd get within the same month. Maybe they're trying to figure out the pricing or something? Whatever the case, I would really like to get some new folder icons, especially since there's a NES & GB icon that I can put on my folders containing said games.

Those NES and GB icons are the main reasons I want it!
The lack of badges for other systems would probably drive me mad over time but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

What more do you need?! That is the PR.

UK prices.
You can guess them in most cases but it'd be nice to be sure.

I guess it's a better time than ever to pull out the handy dandy 64 Virtual console list to see what's possible

Going by that, my personal guess as for what's next is Yoshi Story, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis.

I'm also guessing both Castlevania games will turn up next Halloween, while we get the DS ones this year.

Just now reading through this list...

It sucks that most of the games I want are in the unbolded Nintendo category. Also, Quest 64 is one of my favorite N64 games (despite, as you said, it's reputation). Aidyn Chronicles is another game I'd love to see, but I doubt that will EVER see the light of day.

Indeed, Quest 64 is a fun little game.
And Aidyn Chronicles is absolutely amazing. Have sunk multiple 100+ hour save files into that.

(They would need to fix the random save file corruptions in Aidyn Chronicles though. I always kept multiple save files just in case, but still)

It's not that easy, though. Is there any important in-game text in Yoshi's Story? Because otherwise there is a fair chance we will still receive the US version, as we did with other platformers in the past that have been translated originally (Super Mario 64, DKC1+3).

Ah right. Sorry, I forgot about those. :D

Sure, that's also a possibility. Maybe they're thinking about audience. They seem to position Yoshi games as babygames (literally kind of lol) so they might want to put out localized versions to include younger buyers as opposed to older players who can be expected to get along fine with the English-only version.

So basically ... VC roulette :D
