Does it really cost so much to maintain a digital storefront that gets zero new content that it's not worth the chance that some DSi owner (or a device that can play DSi games and get on the store, not sure how Nintendo stuff works) might buy a game?

That's more than I expected, honestly.

It was a super quick call too. No issues. They can tell how many points you have by serial number. I called expecting a "you're out of luck" speech.

One thing that's important to note is that the vast majority of DSiWare games are available on the 3DS eShop. I suspect a big part of reason that this is being closed down is that this was basically only for DSi owners at this point.

By contrast, the Wii Shop Channel is still used by the Wii U, so it's probably safer (for now).
