I think the ODST marketing might push a bunch of consoles but not a lot really maybe +10% to 20% over norm, the fact the blu ray/Wi FI equipped PS3 is the same price as the 360 (with Hard Drive) should mean it thrashes its rival next month

I'm not surprised to see MPT not make the list. Primes were never huge sellers and this is just a re-release. Though I suspect it will gain LTDs in the long run as it's lucrative for newer Wii players but if Prime 3 didn't get them this wasn't.

That's a pretty extraordinary claim. There's a great exclusive and multiplatform lineup slated for it, a massive price cut that puts it in league with the competition, and an obviously pent-up demand for the console that the cut has unleashed. Comparatively the competition has no major exclusives slated for holidays, with an arguable exception for Forza 3, and neither competing consoles are touting such significant price reductions.

(Halo ODST and Ballad of Gay Tony will not move consoles. The Halo and GTA ships have sailed.)

Disappointed that Metroid Prime Trilogy bombed. What happened to the Nintendo fans who would buy anything made by Nintendo?

Personally speaking, I have all three games in the trilogy already and couldn't justify the $50 for Wii motion controls on Prime and Echoes when I could put that money towards several other games for the Wii/handhelds that I wanted to play. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason for a lot of people who would be interested in the trilogy in the first place.

So yeah. My Nintenwhoredom is weak =(

It's a very boring game because it's a very slow game. Echoes is the better of the first two because it has Sanctuary Fortress.

Corruption is the best though, by a long, long shot.

Yet the official announcement by Sony was Sept 1st. So two things are true, they arrived early in some numbers nationwide and most people didn't expect them until Sept.

yup - everyone who wanted to play halo ever went out and bought the X360 at full price exhausting the fan base, whilst Uncharted fans were clever enough to not buy the console or the first version and have just rabbidly been waiting for the follow up.

(i hope Uncharted 2 does move units, the beta was amazing and the (deliberately limited) footage i've seen looks utterly incredible. I want Uncharted 2 to be -specifically singled out- as the reason consoles move because it looks like it deserves to be THAT game)

I wasn't claiming to have made a 'bold' prediction.

I'm just saying is all. In the thread, I said people no longer had any MAJOR reason to buy a 360 now over a PS3 now that the PS3 has almost the SAME game library as the 360.

Looks like we're really going to start to see that come to fruition over the next few months.

I'm not sure how one month of in the ballpark with the competition sales equasl: "The turn around.". It sure is a turn around for Sony but they have alot of ground to recapture and I won't expect Nintendo and Microsoft to sit by and watch it happen.

I don't think MS has much else they can do though.

They can't really drop the price to a level that will make it worth it, bundling games doesn't do all that much.

All they have left that would have a major effect would be to slash the price of Live or make it free altogether. Even then they would only JUST have their necks in front.

Again, most people here would know I'm more of a 360 fan, but it's pretty clear where this is all going. Not that it's a big deal. It's not like one of the big 3 is going anywhere next gen.

Not sure if you mean total YoY sales, or just August's YoY, but August has PS3, NDS, and 360 with increased sales YoY.

Next month's PS3's sales are going to be a pretty big wildcard, could be anywhere to as high as double this month's sales, wouldn't be too surprised to see PS3 come in on 500K with 5 full weeks of sales. Will probably be closer to 350-400K, but the higher they are, the more interesting the thread will be.

I don't think there is a huge following that thinks that U2 or Ratchet will sell systems. If they do they're dumb. Only New games, and games that jump generations push consoles.
