Wii sold over 1 million units in France, PS3 over 800K.

But Sony still sold more PS3s than Microsoft and Nintendo combined.

And Wii sold 920k

Either way GT5 has to keep pace with the best ever selling version of the franchise in Europe just to reach 10 million which would still be a decent decline.
Europe has seen some interesting growth relative to PS2 days, so it's not entirely out of the question (I can't speak for GT popularity though).
That said, it's unfortunate PS3 got hit by piracy now, as GT5 had the strongest performance of any game in the series in Asia (so it could have made some of Jpn deficit there), but this will undoubtedly flatten out now.

But we don't have updated numbers for GT5 in the UK for that last 4 weeks.
Because Week 51 is totally fuck up, no comment how much it drop or increase in percent.

week 51 (unknown)
week 52 (-40%)
week 1 (-55%)

Let assume week 51 (0%) because most of top 10 are steady or slight increase.
therefore:
270+105+103+99+99+59+27
=762K
hence GT5 should be sold more than 700K in UK.

edit:it's for France, I read it out of context.

8m PS3 software
saying that big multiplatform games sell more on PS3, in some cases 1.5 to 2 times more.
software attach rate 2.8 for PS3 and 2 for 360 in 2010 on average. Microsoft also suggested that piracy had a significant impact on their software sales. Microsoft also admitted that PS3 is dominating in Southern Europe countries like Spain and Italy, hoping Kinect will change that. only in UK and US Xbox 360 is preferred over PS3.

*independent organization is cited as a source for numbers, no name.

Sony comments on software sales in Europe, mentioning 8m PS3 software sold in EU in 2010 compared to 4.7m on 360.

I believe those numbers are just for France, not the EU...it wouldn't make sense otherwise. The article doesn't say that's for the EU, and the explanation for the numbers is from SCE France's PR dude.

8 million software in whole of EU is not possible. Germany + France alone schould have more than 10 million PS3 software. Those figures are most likely France only.

the way it's written in the last part, looks like they are talking about Europe, but it's too low though :p
it's certainly wrong now that I'm looking into it. but yeah they comment on rest of the Europe, those attach rates must be for France too, 2,8*3m= 8m

there is more in this article than what was posted, about Europe not just France;
Sony comments on software sales in Europe, mentioning 8m PS3 software sold in France in 2010 compared to 4.7m on 360.

if we add these software numbers to UK sales for 2010:

360 - 18.1 million+4.7m = 22.8m
PS3 - 13.8 million+8m = 21.8m

very close.
if there is any error in this, let me know.
fixed. The wording also doesn't make it clear either if the 2,8 attach ratio is for France alone or Europe. And this tracker is most likely Gfk no?

very close.

You said these 8M and 4.7M are European SW sales (they were French), and then you added to UK sales.
BTW, UK is less than 20% of the European market.

it's safe to assume that PS3 software sales in EU covers the lead 360 has in UK and even more, adding only France there is just 1m difference. there must be margin of a few millions.

What a horrible attach rate for both.
Yep.

I would say this is because these numbers don't include digital games, bundled and obviously pirated copies.

Yep. If add get German, Spanish and Italian numbers we would get a way better picture, having the main 5 European markets.

No, the attach ratio is horrible because it's the ratio for 2010, meaning how many games were sold by each ps3/360 user between January 1th 2010 and December 31 2010.

De plus, un joueur de PS3 a acheté en moyenne 2,8 jeux en 2010, contre 2 pour le joueur de Xbox 360"

edit: seems like you are indeed referring to the number for 2010, is it that low? Got any numbers to compare?

Hard to tell without knowing global attach ratios.

Kinect gave 360 a second wind, interesting. +36% in the second half of they year is impressive, +19% overall - you could tell sales were stagnating in the first half.

New UK chart is up:

WiiFit Plus at #2 is insane. Do we have any idea of how many balance boards have been sold by now?

30, 35 millions?

It's getting advertising over here again (Netherlands) through a famous show host in a commercial, wouldn't be surprised if it's the same story in the UK and other countries.

Nice jumps for Kinect Sports and Dance Central.
Nice to see the jumps last after Christmas; but a shame to see YSF drop as its by far the best fitness game (even including the Wii ones)

Well I think that's an issue of choice, there are a lot of fitness games for Kinect already.

It looks like a not a bad start for a PS3 version of DCU, but PC version is only debuted 4th in the PC chart, which at this time of the year means very, very low amount.
