I'm convinced that Disney has done a far far better job staying relevant to children demographics then Nintendo has outside of say Pokemon. I see Amiibo's mostly as a way to further monetize the older Nintendo fanbase that are likely predisposed to collecting such things

Hmm I assume Sony at least wants to try and make some money back off of Driveclub so I suspect while they'll have Driveclub bundles, they'll be over MSRP for a standard PS4

I suspect Destiny bundles at standard console MSRP going forward

That's right, kids ... a 23-point shift in the market's year-over-year growth rate in the space of a single week. ;)

That is a few 100 more then the week before.
Seriously the UK is not that big of a market anymore, if something is up a 100% week over week its just that a few 100 extra copies 1000 at the most.

The UK market is by far the biggest console market in Europe, it's just rather poor for Nintendo games.

The overall gaming market, however they define it now, is similar, but just look at the last gen install bases for Wii/360/PS3 or current gen install bases for PS4/XB1/Wii U, Germany makes up the difference via PC and I dunno how France does it (mobile maybe? idk)

edit: France 7th gen console total: 13.86 million through June 2013
Germany (7th gen): 10.9 million through September 2013

will refind the UK total later, I'm 99.99% sure it's over 20 million

By the way, I checked Watch Dogs and Battlefield 3 first week sales because according to Eurogamer, Destiny sold better than the former but worse than Battlefield 3. The problem is that our recent estimates had Destiny over Battlefield 3 too.

Well, I once again made the calculations and our estimates were right, what happens is that the news writer upweighted the figures to 100%. This post (he's a GAF member) supports my thesis.

Destiny - 417,100 (95%)
Battlefield 3 - 404,000 (90%)
Watchdogs - 388,000 (95%)

Upweighted to 100%

Battlefield 3 - 449,000

FIFA 14 sold less because it didn't have a Wii U version... lol

Not joking now but maybe they're selling less due to Legacy editions? (Wii/3DS/Vita). Or are we expecting FIFA 15 to sell more than FIFA 14? (I think the FIFA 13 numbers will be difficult to achieve).

just for kicks, since we were comparing console markets earlier, here's UK vs Japan in console software from April-August 2014 (Japan numbers don't have XB1 yet (lol) or Wii, but it shouldn't really matter considering the former is Xbox while the latter didn't have a million over the entire 2013 FY)

(Japan numbers are via Dengeki, UK numbers are obviously the chart above, I would do the entire year but I'm too lazy to search for extra Dengeki data)

This is software from April-August 2014, not hardware. (and for whatever reason Japan tends to have a shitty attach rate on consoles, just check out the Wii U as an example (or maybe this is just a Nintendo thing idk))
