Okay, where do I get the game then?
Register an account on http://www.pathofexile.com/ and wait for Open Beta
It is the last "planned" wipe, you have nothing to worry about.
It will be ladder so all characters will get to legancy league eventually on ladder reset.
Default will be legacy for all time.
There are a few permanent long term leagues including the default “standard” and “hardcore” leagues. All other leagues have a duration value and a parent league. When the duration is over, all characters in that league become part of the parent league.
I've owned this game for quite some time now, but have been hesitant to play it because of all the wipes. Anyone have a solid date for the final release?
There's no winning team. Only good and bad games.I'm just glad Yoshichan is on the true winning team now.
Talk about being nervous when you're having a conversation through text with Chris...

Looking through the patch notes and noticed one thing peculiar...
Ground Slam attacks at the speed of the weapon? Does this mean it's faster or slower when taking certain passives and using fast attack gems?
He's probably just testing alpha right now. It's not like he's programming or doing art.
I really want to get into PoE. I liked it, and bought it (got my Kiwi pet!), but I just can't seem to stay engaged to get to a decent level.
Any good guides out there on the first 20 levels?
Kripp is streaming the alpha and I assume eventually act 3 (just started act 2)

I know the Witch fulfills that role but it would of being nice to see a proper Necromancer class. Too late now i guess.
Missed out on Kripps alpha footage because I had to go to bed... thankfully I can watch his vods.
Could anyone link me the OT once it goes live?
Wow, so excited!!! ♥|OT| in 8 hours or 34 hours ?
Yep!I missed it too he records everything on twitch?
Is there a reason why you're not engaged?
If you're struggling to survive, check out Kripp's beginner video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgK9SMR2Vyw
In essence, get HP equip and passives.
If you feel like you're not powerful at the beginning, that's intended because it gets better when you level up as a game that has excellent character building and progression should (Diablo 3 doesn't).
Thanks! My main thing is: Skills.
I don't know what they are, which to use, how to get them, etc.
The video you linked says: When you're making a character, know the skills you're planning for.
And that's my main stopping point. I have no direction when I'm creating because I don't know the skills. Any good guides on them?

OTs can be posted 7 days out from release, so a little over 96 hours. You can keep track easily because I'll post it when the open beta timer hits 7 days.
I can't really offer up a guide, but I can tell you a few skills that pretty popular. Sweep and ground slam for melee, spark totem (thats spark + totem linked) for caster, and although I don't play one, I think lightning arrow and lesser multiple projectiles are popular with rangers. Someone can correct me on any of these. Aura's like hatred and anger are useful early on, and later you'll have access to mana regen. Totems are very useful, you can get health regen ones, or ones that taunt mobs to take the heat off you. These should carry you through for a few levels until you get a good grasp on the game and start seeing just how your items, skills, stats and weapons all synergise. It picks up soon enough, so stick with it.
I understand that classes are really just starting positions on the passive grid, but what is a good one to start as for a beginner?
