SInce a few people were revealing their endgame teams earlier, I was playing Yusuke, Makoto, and Morgana almost exclusively for the latter half of the dungeons on my first playthrough. Low damaging team overall so the MC was the one spamming charge and concentrate towards the end while Makoto and Morgana were on support and Yusuke landing good damage on baton passes.

On my NG+, I'm using that team again unintentionally. I guess they just fit my playstyle lol

I was running yusuke, makoto, new character for most of the game... and then running ryuji near the end.

wear attack up gear
have auto attack up all cast thanks to main character persona.
main character, yusuke, ryuji just spam attack moves, makoto heals the team.... pretty much everything died in the ambush rounds lol.

likely doesn't hurt that I spent 300k to get a level 86 persona for my level 55 main character at the time :p

For endgame I had Yusuke and Makoto semi permanently and sometimes I'd put Ann, Morgana or Haru (she's a great hybrid), but mostly Ann during boss fights. Makoto had the Bugs gloves to deal some criticals with regular attacks, but she was mostly there for mediarahan and marakukaja, and sometimes the occasional nuclear coverage.

I prefer Yusuke to Ryuji because his agility makes him a more reliable physical hitter and speed master cements him as such. Plus he has high counter, and adding an accessory with medium chance of phys repel made him repel stuff regularly.

Ann... Well, she's a goddamn beast. Plus dekaja is nice!

Joker took care of rakunda, debilitate, heat riser, and destroying everything with charged Sword Dance and God's Hand. Almost all my personas had repel phys too which came in handy against 90% of the bosses in the game (Gabriel doing Divine Punishment to herself was hilarious).

Endgame SPOILERS

Anyone else notice meguro tends to use the bad ending credits theme for the last dungeons always ? He did the EXACT same for p4 with "corridor"

There is one thing I wish you could do in regards to Persona fusions.

When fusing two Personas into a new one, I wish for the option to not transfer over some skills.

Sometimes I just wanted to create a bunch of new Personas via fusion for the sake of filling the compendium. Also having a clean movelist or having the Personas in the compendium in their most natural state besides their level up bonus from the Confident Rank.

I mean sure it's useful to have some Personas with certain skill sets that you absolutely need to copy over, but just having the option to not transfer an ability over would be nice.

How do I finish the rank 8 of Star request? I beat the Membtos boss but the next available time to hang out I just played a game of shogi instead, no reference to the request at all.

The theme of my play through so far can be summed up with

"I should choose my words carefully...I'm already in a relationship with another girl"

How do I finish the rank 8 of Star request? I beat the Membtos boss but the next available time to hang out I just played a game of shogi instead, no reference to the request at all.

I literally just did that and the only way I was able to progress it was when I got a text from her asking to hang out, it seems that there is no way to get around having to hang out with her like 3 times between rank 8 and 10.

Crap, I was hoping to get her rank 9 skill before the early December flu season so I could get that reaper trophy before NG+

Unless there are some later dates with flu, I guess I'll wait because it's 12/4 and every time I tried farming the reaper with flu he never had it and Futaba sucked at escaping before I got destroyed.

Yeah star took me much longer than I wanted to as well, I was hoping to have her done before the end of november but she was only available to rank up like once between palace 6s conclusion and the end of the month because she had all those forced non rank up scenes.

They're definitely not skippable either, I had a star persona with me since rank 1 and I would do fortune telling before talking to her every time.

I didn't have any non rank up scenes with her.

Sat alone in a boggy marsh
For the game I basically had two separate teams

Team 1 and Main Team: Ryuji, Ann, Makoto

Team 2: Yusuke, Haru, Akechi

Morgan's sat in the party and healed after each battle so I didn't waste HP

Up to the fourth palace. Some thoughts so far...

I totally have the pants from those high school uniforms in the game. Though I call them pajama pants and more than likely wouldn't wear them out of the house with a dress shirt. Though maybe I will now as an experiment to see if everyone else thinks that look is as weird as I do

7/7
And I was shocked on 7/7 in game. Atlus's letter implied that there was gonna be a bigly yuge plot twist that day (and that first letter was a threat though I will give them credit for apologizing and doing the right thing) and absolutely nothing happened on 7/7.

Until the end of the second palace
That second palace though they needed to make the guy look evil a lot faster than they did. After King Moron on steroids, we get a guy that I didn't really hate too much until right before the fight, and in any story where I'm supposed to side with a thief you have to make me really hate the villain if you want me to buy the story, so can't dance around his villainy for that long (sorry, but plagiarism just doesn't look that bad after blackmail, borderline rape and driving someone to suicide.)

And was that second palace boss supposed to be hard? TVTropes says that it's the hardest boss in the game and it required strategy, but it was far from being even close to as difficult as tvtropes implied.

And the musics good, but none of it feels as iconic as Want to be Close or Persona 4's boss theme did when I was playing the previous games. Also not falling over myself to change my ringtone like I did to Want to be Close or Specialist. Though there are standout tracks. I do like the boss theme (just not AS much as p4) and the third palace theme.

Do love the sort of MGS vibe with sneaking into the palaces and ambushing enemies. Very happy you don't get punished too bad for getting seen.

With all the waifus in this game, what's with no social link for the math teacher. Out of all the characters in the game, she's the one that's totally my type.

And am I doing something wrong with regards to Mementos? I'm as far in as I can go and everyone keeps talking about allllll the requests in getting except that I only get one every palace cycle. I know I'll get some from confidants, but am I missing anything?

In what situations are guns useful? They seem weaker than physical attacks, and have limited ammo. I've just used them to get enemies to a low enough HP that they surrender, without killing them.

I only use them if they're a weakness.

Same reason why I only really use tier 1 elemental spells.

I only use them if the enemies are weak to it so I can do a talk or all out attack. I assume that's all they're good for.

They do more damage as you dump consecutive shots into an enemy. I really only used them against bosses because I'm one of those people who is afraid of using limited items.

That was basically the party I used for most of my first playthrough.

I did end up swapping to Ryuji, Ann and Makoto though, because well, it's just the best team. *shrug*

the dirty two horned beast...how do i make it my persona?

Each Persona as a personality type which you can see in their status page.

There is four types, Irritable, Gloomy, Timid, and Upbeat.

When you negotiate with each type, keep each Persona's personality type in mind.

Irritable types only like serious answers, Upbeat types like funny replies, Timid are more reticent to kind answers, and Gloomy types seem like like vague answers.

My team as well. Also having Morgana in the party is annoying cause if he dies you have to have the whole hiding shtick which takes too long for a party member dying normally.

Speaking of Morgana, did they HAVE to give him two unambiguously feminine names if he's a guy? They could've chosen male names you know.

And in one of her battle quotes, Ann draws out the first syllable of Persona so it sounds like she's saying "Purr-sona" after all the bear puns in Persona 4, it's kinda shocking Morgana doesn't have a quote like that cause he's a cat.

They get very useful after you get into the Tower confidant a bit. It opens up in early fall I believe.

Makoto is the best. Let's all agree about that.

Futaba >>> Makoto = Haru > Ann

for the main party females.

and for social links in general

Futaba > everyone else... and I don't have an order beyond that lol.

to be fair
confident spoiler.
futaba basically has two social links worth of stuff so it shouldn't be surprising that she got the most interesting social link stuff :p

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

You know this would be awesome if Atlus had the forethought in advance to consider this to be an actual legitimate connection. Like for example the Persona 4 crew meeting the Persona 5 crew in something like a new sequel Persona Arena Ultimax.

also, i'm super shocked the game give the player less days than persona 3 had. i'm sure theres more after the final boss, but still.

Doesn't persona 4 take place before persona 5?

Well considering the posters of Rise and Kanami shown at Shibuya, chances are that implies that Rise is not too old to still have her Idol career, so that would probably put the timing around the same time or maybe a few years afterwards.

Of course it could also be a just a reference and not an actual implied connection in regards for a timeline.

There is also a rumor that Persona 5 takes place in an entirely different universe than Persona 4 does but if that is the case that wouldn't explain the existence of the Rise and Kanami advertisements.

indeed, in fact if you are paying attention you can get updates on a number of persona 4 characters in persona 5 :p

depends on what AU theories you apply.
I mean it's completely possible to have an alternate universe where most of the things are different but a few things are the same.

Nah, P5 definitely happens 4 years after P4. Rise was to become 16 back in P4 and they mention in the news that she's now 20. Also that phantom thief in Naoto's SL is just her grandfather playing a game with her to rekindle her passion for her work.

There are some really absurd plot oversights that would make sense if some P3/4 characters didn't exist, but for the most part there's no reason to assume this is an alternate timeline.

but persona 4 took place in 2008 or so and p5 clearly takes place in 2016 :p

Isn't it implied that Yu Narukami is actually from the big city and he was only temporarily visiting Inaba because his parents were working abroad?

It would have been totally cool reference to accidently bump into him while going to ride a train at Shibuya terminal. Even a 4 second cameo like that would have been nice.

Then again there isn't any examples in the history of Persona games of one protagonist showing up in another mainline title.

Well Persona 3 protagonist could been a dream match guest character in P4A, however he wasn't due to obvious story reasons.

P4 takes place in 2011

Yep, I'm currently playing P4G myself and the calender indeed says 2011 unlike the 20XX calendar of Persona 5.

So real quick, but I hit a point where I've got 2 Requests that require doing some work at night. If my focus is just going to be on hitting the true ending and getting through as much Confidant stuff as I can, is there any purpose to using up some of my precious time on that stuff?
